Hi everyone, it's a short week in Germany (public holiday tomorrow), and we are still working on creating a first installable build of openSUSE 11.1 Beta2. Currently, we are looking into a cyclic dependency between some packages. If you want to follow that discussion, please check https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=431340 Yesterday, we were stuck because of build loops in the java stack, which have been workarounded in the meantime. [opensuse-factory] Discussion about Java versions in 11.1

It's my understanding that 11.1 is planned to ship with openjdk 1.6 installed by default and with (only) Sun Java 1.6 available via non-oss repo. I'd like to discuss this, as it causes some major problems - at least for Danish users. 1) With Danske Bank - the largest Danish bank, home banking only works properly with Sun Java 1.5. With Sun Java 1.6 some core functionality doesn't work and with openjdk 1.6 you can't even login at all. 2) Another home bank system, common to many smaller Danish banks, won't work with Sun Java 1.6 on x86_64 systems (even with 32-bit firefox+32-bit java, even though it does work on full 32-bit systems with Sun Java 1.6). https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=288750 In summary, 11.1 will be unusable for Danske Bank customers and most x86_64 users without Sun Java 1.5 available - making it very difficult to recommend to anyone. I'm certain these problems of critical java applets, that only work (properly) with Sun Java 1.5, exist for very many users in very many countries. I suggest to include Sun Java 1.5 in the non-oss repo for 11.1. And to make this repo available for testing before release. I also encourage anyone who's dependant on Java applets to test this stuff ASAP. [opensuse-factory] Has anyone booted from a fresh 11.1b2 installation?

Hi, I just tried to reboot my fresh upgrade with grub-0.97-151.3 and I got the grub shell this time instead of os not found but no boot. I copied old backed up grub directory into /boot and used system repair to point grub at the new kernel and now it works. [opensuse-factory] Factory repo http 404 errors

Hi, factory is returning many http 404 errors for me, unfortunately my wireshark and iptraf are broken so if there are mirrors involved I can't log the activity. Retrying finds the package. [opensuse-factory] Beta2 repos and reinstall

Hi, I did the Beta2 install of the DVD which worked perfectly. I then added (yast2, Software Repos -> Community Repos) MAIN Respo (OSS) and the Update repo. Doing a "zypper dup" first wanted to change vendor for all packages which is fine I suppose, but, it also wants to reinstall what seems to be all packages. What's the cause of this and can I disable the reinstall and just upgrade? An other minor thing is when trying to Edit a repo in yast2, it gives me a orange popup saying: UI Syntax Error Unknown widget type InputFiled Check the log file!
