base operating system for building container images

Hello together, we of the s390x port wanted to start with our existing container images tomcat [0] and httpd [1] to test and enable these ones for s390x, because that does not exist for s390x in registry.opensuse.org at the moment. My question is: Which base operating system is used for building our container images? The reason is, that we were able to reproduce errors (Sysconfig) with SLES SP2 in the LinuxONE Community Cloud. Then we did an upgrade to openSUSE Tumbleweed and we didn't receive any failures any more (without changes in the Dockerfile). You can not receive any background about build failures for special architectures in OBS [2] because all is disabled. Therefore, I wanted to ask for the required environment to reproduce not working container images. Thank you! This reminds me of opensuse's gvim not being able to use dlopen support to load plugin-languages like perl either. What's up with leaving dlopen support/use out of products like bash and gvim? And you can't say I didn't report it in the bugDB. For gvim -- I even posted the patch for building perl as a run-time load via dlopen, and did it get used? Nep. Open suse don't do run-time loading of libs... (and again, people wonder why I have to build my own gvim among other rpms or my own perl...etc)... Sorry if I am not sounding all cheerful but....its hard to keep up w/repairing things :-(

V8 headers and so files from NodeJS

Hi, Some important R packages (most notably R-rstan) that we are trying to build depend on the V8 package for R: https://cran.r-project.org/web/packages/V8/index.html On the Fedora world, the R-V8 package depends on v8-devel, which is provided by the NodeJS package: https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/nodejs/blob/rawhide/f/nodejs.spec The v8-devel subpackage provides the headers (v8*.h), the "libplatform" module (needed by our package) and the so files (libv8*.so). Note that there is also a patch regarding the V8 headers: https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/nodejs/blob/rawhide/f/0003-Revert-build-… On openSUSE, the nodejs-devel, only provides the v8 headers (v8.h and v8config.h), making it impossible to build the R-V8 package (and thus our target packages). Now, I'm a crappy packager and know nothing about NodeJS packaging, but would it be possible for the nodejs package to either include those files in nodejs-devel or build a sub-package like v8-devel in Fedora? Krita build failing with new OpenColorIOv2

Hi all, I happened to notice the OpenColorIO v2.0.1 library was checked in a few hours ago to Factory. Unfortunately current krita is incompatible with this version (requires v1), while I believe blender 2.9.3 does now require v2 I had a quick look to see if I could patch krita, but the api is non-trivially different. See also this Fedora bug https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1932124 I am not the maintainer of any of these packages, just someone who noticed this looming breakage. T
