==== libatasmart ====
Subpackages: libatasmart-utils libatasmart4
- Modernize spec file
- Use pkgconfig(libudev) instead of libudev-devel, allows shortcut
via systemd-mini package.
==== libostree ====
Version update (2019.1 -> 2019.6)
Subpackages: libostree-1-1
- Update to version 2019.6:
* Nothing major in this release, but there is some bigger stuff
outstanding and ready to merge, so this version was released
so that work will have time to stabilize.
* A few build/CI fixes. A new progress API which will be used by
flatpak (and can be used by others). Finally, we also avoid
reordering kernel arguments.
- Update to version 2019.5:
* We discovered that CLang has a static analyzer scan-build;
it found some small memory leaks so far, otherwise mostly
noise, but we haven't dug through all the errors yet.
* Gained a new zipl (s390x bootloader) backend
* Install the .hmac files needed for FIPS mode in /boot too
* This is also the first release where we switched to using
the OpenShift Prow as a merge bot, though a lot more CI work
is pending.
- Update to version 2019.4:
* This is mostly a bugfix release. Notably, the 2019.3 release caused
some issues related to the gpg-agent code spewing messages on the
terminal. Additionally, Fedora 31 users have hit upon issues with
ostree-finalize-staged.service running too late to be able to write
back its logs to the journal. This then confused rpm-ostree after
reboot, because it looks at the previous boot's journal for this
message.
* The biggest feature-ish change is support for a partial commit
"reason" so that after ostree fsck --delete was used, subsequent
ostree fsck will continue to report an error. This should be used
by higher level tools that want to do "fsck and repair". It's
likely at some point that "fsck and repair" logic will move down
into the libostree core as well.
* There are ongoing efforts to port Fedora CoreOS to s390x: one fix
landed here to add the deployment prefix to BLS entries since it's
what the zipl bootloader expected.
- Update to version 2019.3:
* A lot of changes since the last release. On the feature side,
probably the biggest is we've made public the internal API
for kernel arguments, which rpm-ostree now uses.
* Other things include a new --modern switch for init-fs,
better support in pull for downgrade protection, better
use of mmap, support for committing archives (tarballs)
from stdin, etc.
* Finally, libostree now supports being built without GPG,
which is an important preparatory piece for introducing
an alternative signature system.
- Update to version 2019.2:
+ It's been some time since the last release, so this is a slightly
larger one! There's lots of new features, and a few bug fixes.
+ New features:
* A new sysroot.bootloader key was added to be more explicit about
which bootloader OSTree should use. Notably a none value is
supported, in which OSTree is solely responsible for writing the
BLS entries. This can then be used by bootloaders like GRUB2,
which now supports BLS natively.
* ostree config now supports the unset command to unset a key from
the OSTree repo config
* ostree remote add now supports the --force flag to replace a
remote of the same name if it exists
* ostree-prepare-root now logs a structured journal message after
finding the deployment to which to pivot. This can be used by
higher-level apps like RPM-OSTree to build a history of the
deployments the machine was booted into.
* The staging API now supports a lockfile which prevents
finalization at shutdown. This is intended to be used in systems
that need more fine-tuned control between staging a deployment,
and setting it as the default deployment on reboot.
* ostree static-delta show now prints the From and To commits for
which the delta was generated
+ Bug fixes:
* Make looking up collection-refs similar to how regular refs are
looked up, i.e. first in the transaction, then in the current
repo, and then in the parent repo
* Don't include the OSTree commit version number twice in the boot
menu title. This affected at least Fedora-based systems composed
with RPM-OSTree's mutate-os-release.
* Activate ostree-finalize-staged earlier; this should hopefully
make deployment finalization more reliable by running it later in
the shutdown sequence, when less services are running
* Run grub2-mkconfig on the filesystem tree of the pending
deployment, rather than the previously deployed tree. This was a
corner case where the deployment failed if a previous deployment
did not exist, on systems where grub.cfg is used.

[opensuse-factory] openSUSE:Factory - Build fail notification
by DimStar / Dominique Leuenberger 23 Jan '20
by DimStar / Dominique Leuenberger 23 Jan '20
23 Jan '20
Dear Package maintainers and hackers.
Below package(s) in openSUSE:Factory have been failing to build for at
least 4 weeks. We tried to send out notifications to the
configured bugowner/maintainers of the package(s), but so far no
fix has been submitted. This probably means that the
maintainer/bugowner did not yet find the time to look into the
matter and he/she would certainly appreciate help to get this
sorted.
- python-pyFFTW
- python-sunpy
Unless somebody is stepping up and submitting …
[View More]fixes, the listed
package(s) are going to be removed from openSUSE:Factory.
Kind regards,
DimStar / Dominique Leuenberger <dimstar(a)opensuse.org>

[opensuse-factory] [DEL Announce] Compiz will be dropped from Tumbleweed
by Dominique Leuenberger / DimStar 22 Jan '20
by Dominique Leuenberger / DimStar 22 Jan '20
22 Jan '20
Hi all,
this is the final chance for somebody to step up and give CPR to
Compiz.
Compiz once used to be this nice thingy, mostly known for projecting
desktops onto a cube and making windows wobbly.
It's been a long that this package did not have a successul build.
First failure was noted on August 1st 2019.
Considering the time that has passed, I am but to believe that the
current maintainer(s) don't care that much for it anymore.
Also the version we have in Factory gives this a bit away: …
[View More]we are at
0.8.16, whereas upstream released 0.9.14.1 in Nov 2019 (so upstream
does seema live; not sure if kicking :P )
So, this is basically a wakeup call: if somebody cares a lot for compiz
it would be about THAT moment to speak up - and the step up to become
the new maintainer. Otherwise, the delete request will be processed,
which will include those packages (dep tree)
compiz :
compicc
compiz-emerald
compiz-emerald-themes
compiz-plugins-experimental
compiz-plugins-extra
compiz-plugins-main
libcompizconfig
python-compizconfig
simple-ccsm
Of course, seeing compiz go makes my heart bleed a little bit - there
has been a time in the past where I was actually maintainer of that
stack (back in the GNOME 2.x days; when I was using and enjoying
compiz)
Cheers,
Dominique

[opensuse-factory] Make use of job template settings to reduce the number of testsuites
by Marius Kittler 21 Jan '20
by Marius Kittler 21 Jan '20
21 Jan '20
Hi,
openQA supports adding test settings directly on job template level (the YAML
file defined for each job group). This helps to avoid test suites which would
otherwise only be used by a single job template.
A test suite can still be used. In this case the settings specified on job
template level extend or overwrite settings specified within the test suite.
This helps to avoid having multiple, almost identical test suites.
The example in the next section is supposed to give an idea how …
[View More]the feature is
intended to be used in practice so you can consider it when adding *new* test
scenarios.
We are working on tooling to migrate *existing* test suites.
See https://progress.opensuse.org/issues/60329 or reach out to the tools team
if you have questions or suggestions about migration plans.
# Example
In this example I am considering the test suites for openQA-in-openQA tests on
o3. Previously the `scenarios` section of the YAML document looked like this:
```
scenarios:
x86_64:
openqa-*-dev-x86_64:
- openqa_install+publish
- openqa_from_git
```
The referenced test suites `openqa_install+publish` and `openqa_from_git` are
not used anywhere else. That makes them perfect candidates for being included
directly within the YAML so the `scenarios` section can be changed to:
```
scenarios:
x86_64:
openqa-*-dev-x86_64:
- openqa_install+publish:
testsuite: 'empty'
settings:
INSTALL: '1'
INSTALL_ONLY: '1'
PUBLISH_HDD_1: 'opensuse-Tumbleweed-%ARCH%(a)%MACHINE%-%BUILD%.qcow2'
PUBLISH_PFLASH_VARS: 'opensuse-Tumbleweed-%ARCH%@%MACHINE%-%BUILD%-
uefi-vars.qcow2'
QEMUCPU: 'host'
UPDATE: '0'
description: >-
Maintainer: okurz(a)suse.de Test for installation of openQA itself.
To be used with "openqa" distri. Publishes an qcow2 image including
the openQA installation ready to run as an appliance.
- openqa_from_git:
testsuite: 'empty'
settings:
INSTALL: '1'
INSTALL_ONLY: '1'
OPENQA_FROM_GIT: '1'
QEMUCPU: 'host'
UPDATE: '0'
description: >-
Maintainer: okurz(a)suse.de Test for running openQA itself from git.
To be used with "openqa" distri.
```
The settings and description have just been copied over from the test suites
which are then no longer needed and can be removed. Note that the names
`openqa_install+publish` and `openqa_from_git` are still present because the
structure of the YAML document expects a name at this level. As we do not want
to use any settings from testsuites the assignment `testsuite: 'empty'` is
used. This refers to an actually existing but empty test suite.

Hi,
I would like to ask where can I find some info about package removal reason? I've searched bugzilla and didn't found any of it.

[opensuse-factory] Tumbleweed - Review of the week 2020/03
by Dominique Leuenberger / DimStar 18 Jan '20
by Dominique Leuenberger / DimStar 18 Jan '20
18 Jan '20
Dear Tumbleweed users and hackers,
This has been a busy week when looking at the snapshots. Tumbleweed has
received 6 fully tested snapshots that were published (0110, 0111,
0112, 0113, 0114 and 0115).
The most noteworthy updates there were:
* RPM 4.15.1
* Mozilla Firefox 72.0.1
* Mozilla Thunderbird 68.4.1
* KDE Applications 19.12.1
* KDE Plasma 5.17.5
* KDE Frameworks 5.66.0
* Linux kernel 5.4.10
* Kubernetes 1.17.0
That was quite a bunch of what was on the todo list of …
[View More]last week, but
definitively not all of it and a few new things are already incoming
again. Things currently being worked on or being shipped in the near
future
* systemd 244 (Snapshot 0116+)
* Mesa 19..3.2 (also snapshot 0116+)
* Qt 5.14: we are awaiting some legal reviews. Tests by openQA have
all passed
* Python 3.8: Salt seems to be the main blocker here, as it still
relies on Tornado 4.x
* Removal of python 2
Cheers,
Dominique
