Hello,
this looks like we have some haskell issue in Tumbleweed:
> Package 'xmonad' is not available in your repositories. Cannot
> reinstall, upgrade, or downgrade.
Is there some more information somewhere?
Thanks
Michal

Hi,
I read on the wiki that you look for some solution how to avoid additional
build time due to tar ball recompression.
One way to do it is like in science:unstable/FreeCAD package. It builds
directly in the git tree and is just packaging the _service file in
src.rpm's. It would have a > 100MB tar.xz file otherwise inside.
This us speeding up the build a lot.
The disadvantage of that is that you can not do an offline build.
And you can't get the code anymore, if the upstream scm server disappears
_and_ build.opensuse.org is not working for you anymore.
Therefore the distribution source tree alone would not be enough anymore
for saitisfing the GPL. Either the upstream project or the OBS instance
is required as well.
Not sure if this is good enough for you, but I wanted to mention it at least.
How does it look in practice?
_service file has only the obs_scm and set_version service active.
FreeCAD.spec is just packaging the _service file instead of the tar ball.
%setup is skipping tar ball extraction via
%setup -q -b %_sourcedir/%name-%version -T -D
Have a look in the example here, you find this also switchable via build_tar_ball
rpm macro:
https://build.opensuse.org/package/show/science:unstable/FreeCAD
(and yes, someone broke hdf5 stuff again, but does not matter here)
bye

[opensuse-factory] Version mismatch when branch-checking out package
by John Paul Adrian Glaubitz 09 Aug '18
by John Paul Adrian Glaubitz 09 Aug '18
09 Aug '18
Hi!
I would like to update some packages in openSUSE:Leap:43.3:Update to be
able to make the package "azure-cli" installable in openSUSE:Leap:43.3.
Currently a couple of packages like python-pydocumentdb are missing.
I have already branch-checked out python-pydocumentdb (using -M -N)
to my home project in an openSUSE:Leap:42.3:Update branch.
Now, when I want to build python-pydocumentdb in that branch using
the standard repository of 43.3:Update, I get the error that
python-requests in 43.3:Update is too old (needs to be >= 2.10).
Thus, I am bco'ing python-requests to be able to update it:
glaubitz@suse-laptop:~/suse> osc bco -M openSUSE:Leap:42.3:Update python-requests
A home:glaubitz:branches:openSUSE:Leap:42.3:Update/python-requests.openSUSE_Leap_42.3_Update
A home:glaubitz:branches:openSUSE:Leap:42.3:Update/python-requests.openSUSE_Leap_42.3_Update/no-default-cacert.patch
A home:glaubitz:branches:openSUSE:Leap:42.3:Update/python-requests.openSUSE_Leap_42.3_Update/python-requests.changes
A home:glaubitz:branches:openSUSE:Leap:42.3:Update/python-requests.openSUSE_Leap_42.3_Update/python-requests.spec
A home:glaubitz:branches:openSUSE:Leap:42.3:Update/python-requests.openSUSE_Leap_42.3_Update/requests-2.11.1.tar.gz
A home:glaubitz:branches:openSUSE:Leap:42.3:Update/python-requests.openSUSE_Leap_42.3_Update/urllib3-ssl-default-context.patch
At revision 2687486d94072e65ffed0cfc3545e7d1.
Note: You can use "osc delete" or "osc submitpac" when done.
glaubitz@suse-laptop:~/suse>
To my surprise, this branches and checks out version 2.11.1 of the package.
However, looking at the website, the python-requests package is at 2.7.0:
> https://build.opensuse.org/package/show/openSUSE:Leap:42.3:Update/python3-r…
Does anyone know why it's branch-checking out the 2.11.1 version here?
I already made sure that my branch repo doesn't have the 2.11.1 version
before branching it again.

Hi All,
The Kubic Project, producing a Tumbleweed variant focused on container
technologies like Kubernetes, is changing it's focus to integrate more
closely with upstream tools like kubeadm
For more details please read the full announcement here:
https://kubic.opensuse.org/blog/2018-08-09-newdirection/
Please use this opportunity to join in and contribute to this new era
of the Kubic project.
And, as part of this effort, we've made a new
opensuse-kubic(a)opensuse.org mailinglist - please keep any discussion
to that mailinglist so we can keep this opensuse-factory@ list nice
and focused.
Regards,
The Kubic Team

==== python-kiwi ====
Version update (9.16.2 -> 9.16.6)
- Bump version: 9.16.5 ? 9.16.6
- Fix result bundle command
This commits fixes a regression introduced in 98c9c77a
- Bump version: 9.16.4 ? 9.16.5
- Fixup validation of boottimeout attribute
If boottimeout is set to zero it is evaluated as "not set"
and the default applies. However it's a fairly well approach
to set a zero second boot timeout. This Fixes #789
- Do not replace version from the image name
This commit makes sure that replacing version to version plus the
build id on resulting files happens only on version suffixes. Before
that if image name was including the version string it, this part was
also replaced.
Fixes #787 (bsc#1102868)
- Extending result bundle task tests to better cover corner cases
This commit adds some tests to better cover a couple of cases:
* image name contains the version of the image
* the file in result does not include the version
- Cleanup misleading error message
In root_bind if the cleanup failed to remove a directory
hierarchy the error message was just displaying the path
as it would be on the host root and not based on the root
of the image root tree.
- Modify python-yaml dependency for CentOS and RHEL 7
This commit fixes #785
- Do not run Codacy analysis on tests
- Fixup DiskFormatOva implementation
The inheritance and super call concept used in this class
destroys the OO design concept of loosely coupled code
and also leads to a broken build because it bypasses the
post_init constructor called by the base class
- Exclude tests in codacy analysis
- Bump version: 9.16.3 ? 9.16.4
- Added grub2 module packages for GCE test build
- Fixup timezone and keytable setup for GCE build
- Second round of package fixes for GCE test build
- Update schema for GCE build test to latest version
- Fixup package list for GCE test build
- Added Google Compute Engine build test
- Deleted obsolete landscape setup
Code quality is checked via codacy now
- Rebuild schema documentation
- Fixed building VMware images with pvscsi adapter
Qemu does not natively support the pvscsi adapter type.
However there is a VMware suggested procedure which allows
to change the lsilogic setup to pvscsi inside of the DDB
of a formerly created lsilogic configured image format.
This patch implementes that procedure and
Fixes bsc#1099569
- Rebuild schema documentation
- Bump version: 9.16.2 ? 9.16.3
- Fixed name of checksum file for pxe type
The pxe image build generates among others a checksum
file with the suffix '.md5' This file is read by the
legacy netboot code and is expected to have the same
basename as the image file itself. However if the
compressed attribute is set the image file name is
set to 'image.xz' and the checksum is named 'image.xz.md5'
which is wrong because 'image.md5' is expected. This
patch makes sure the checksum file is always set
to 'image.md5' no matter if the compressed flag is
configured or not
- Fixed custom_args argument assignment in BootImage
custom_args has been deleted from BootImageKiwi class
but was still passed in the Factory
- Added runtime check for label use
Added check_volume_label_used_with_lvm to check if
custom volume labels are used in the scope of LVM
- Fixed GCE image file name
In former times Google requires the image name to follow
their naming conventions. However that seems to have changed
and it is no longer required to match a certain pattern.
Thus this patch changes the output name of the GCE tar file
to use the same naming schema as KIWI applies to its output
files
- Add codacy.yml config file
- Move from landscape.io to codacy.com
- Updated Travis check icon to forked project
- Support label attribute in volumes
The optional label attribute in a volume section allows
to specify a filesystem label for the selected volume.
The label setup will have no effect on filesystems
which implements their own volume management like it's
the case for btrfs. This Fixes #738
- Update schema tron rules for btrfs type attributes
The btrfs_* attributes only applies for vmx and oem types
- Fixed some code smells
* Use of unused variables, and dangerous defaults
* Update of design patterns on pylint and landscape
- Add support for activation of btrfs quota groups
If the new type attribute btrfs_quota_groups is set to true
this will enable the quota group system for btrfs based systems.
This Fixes #772 and bsc#1093518
- Improve coding style, tests and label format validation
- Add '--add-container-label' flag
This commits adds a command line flag to add a label for container image
types. The flag can be used multiple times.
Fixes #770
- Added system cleanup methods
Some files in the system gets created by services like
systemd or zypper and are meant to be created once on the
target system. However in the image they might be unwanted.
Thus this commit adds convenience methods to delete files
which gets automatically re-created by the services on
startup. Whether or not the methods are used is in the
responsibility of the author of the image descripion.
This Fixes bsc#1098535
- avoid double quoting of disturl in label (...="'obs://...'").
avoid always printed warning of missing disturl
make use of disturl variable
==== python-py ====
Version update (1.5.3 -> 1.5.4)
- update to 1.5.4
* don't make assumptions about fs case sensitivity in ``make_numbered_dir``.
==== reiserfs ====
Subpackages: libreiserfscore0
- Compile with _GNU_SOURCE to get loff_t
- Use %license for COPYING
==== rubygem-autoprefixer-rails ====
Version update (9.0.2 -> 9.1.0)
- updated to version 9.1.0
* Add `background-clip: text` support.
* Fix adding Grid span for IE (by Bogdan).
==== spice-gtk ====
Subpackages: libspice-client-glib-2_0-8 libspice-client-glib-helper libspice-client-gtk-3_0-5 typelib-1_0-SpiceClientGlib-2_0 typelib-1_0-SpiceClientGtk-3_0
- Avoid buffer overflow on image lz cheks (CVE-2018-10893, bsc#1101295)
Added patches:
0001-lz-Avoid-buffer-reading-overflow-checking-for-image-.patch
0002-lz-More-checks-on-image-sizes.patch
- Add setuid bit to spice-client-glib-usb-acl-helper (bsc#1101420)
==== squashfs ====
- sysmacros.patch: Include <sys/sysmacros.h> for major/minor/makedev
==== strace ====
- statx-redefinition.patch: Workaround incompatibility between
<sys/stat.h> and <asm/stat.h>
==== tbb ====
- Extend reproducible.patch to override build date (boo#1047218)

- Add xvnc.target to fix xvnc-novnc.service's dependency.
(bnc#1103552)
- Split the X server's VNC module into subpackage and give it
dependency on the current extension ABI.

G'day,
Running v3.16.0 on openSUSE Tumbleweed (20180804).
GTK+ 2.24.32 / GLib 2.56.1
Locale: en_AU.UTF-8 (charset: UTF-8)
Operating System: Linux 4.17.12-1-default (x86_64)
From 'Configuration', 'Preferences', 'Compose', 'Spell Checking',
'Dictionary', 'Default dictionary', I have 'fi'.
I'm guessing it's not English. Once spell checker is enabled, every
'English' word is deemed to be a spelling mistake.
Can anybody shed some light on this please?
Best,

* ) mod_md: improvements and bugfixes
- MDNotifyCmd now takes additional parameter that are passed on to the called command.

Hello everyone,
Firstly I am cross posting this across a number of mailinglists because
this post affects several, but I would ask that you keep your replies /
feedback on the openSUSE project list as not to fragment discussion.
It has been raised with the board by several members of the community
that some of our mailinglists have not been working as effectively as we
would like. As such and as raised in our annual discussion with the
community during the conference, the board has decided to take a couple
of steps that we hope will resolve these issues or that will at least be
a starting point in resolving these issues.
Firstly we have created a new opensuse-support(a)o.o mailing list, we as
the board felt that in the transition from factory -> tumbleweed in
particular the change in role for opensuse(a)o.o did not work well and in
many cases there was an attitude that factory/tumbleweed issues should
still be posted on the factory mailing list. As such we have created the
support mailing list to help clarify these changes in policy that we
don't believe worked when we tried to change them last time. In short we
would like you to use opensuse-support(a)o.o whenever you require support
whether it is for Tumbleweed, Leap (regardless of whether you are using
a Leap beta or not) or any other project under the openSUSE umbrella.
This brings us to the next issue, posting bugs / bug reports on mailing
lists rather then bugzilla. This is a practice we would like to see
stopped and we will be gently reminding people if they continue posting
bugs on mailinglists, this especially includes if a package /
application breaks when updating tumbleweed / leap (including beta's).
We would ask that you search for your issue prior to reporting but in
case you accidentally report a duplicate bug its easy for us to mark it
as such, also if you report something that is intentional and not a bug
it doesn't take long to mark it as such, so if in doubt file a bug
rather then posting to a mailing list, there is useful information for
filing bugs at the following links [1][2]. But if you are really stuck
with trying to file your bug the friendly people at opensuse-support(a)o.o
can support you through the process.
The board hopes that with the changes outlined above the contents of the
opensuse-factory(a)o.o will go back to just being general distro
development discussion so if your post to openSUSE factory is something
other then that think twice about where the more appropriate place to
post is. The new tumbleweed snapshots will continue to be posted to
factory but we would ask you do not reply to them in order to report
issues / bugs. If a bug is reported that a package maintainer believes
will cause significant issues for most tumbleweed users ie not being
able to boot / login or severe data loss we still invite the maintainer
to post a warning to opensuse-factory but such issues happen very rarely
and as such we don't expect to see many such posts.
The board has decided that it would like to see how well these changes
work before deciding to add / remove / change openSUSE's mailing lists
further. Although we have discussed several other possibilities that we
could also try in the future.

[opensuse-factory] Tumbleweed - Review of the week 2018/31
by Dominique Leuenberger / DimStar 04 Aug '18
by Dominique Leuenberger / DimStar 04 Aug '18
04 Aug '18
Dear Tumbleweed users and hackers,
Week 31 was very slow when looking at the number of snapshots
delivered. Last Friday, there was an update of openQA deployed, which
contained quite a bit of rework under the hood. Despite quite a bit of
testing upfront, there were some corner cases that made snapshots turn
red. So rather than releasing untested snapshots, we spent the time to
get the openQA code fixed again, adjusted tests where needed, so that
in the end at least we can, with confidence, say again we trust the
test results. That’s why only 0731 has been released during this week.
That snapshot brought you, amongst others, these updates:
* GStreamer 1.14.2
* fwupd 1.1.0
* Linux kernel 4.17.11
* LLVM 6.0.1
Staging projects were also slowed down during this week due to openQA.
So a good bunch of what was in the makes last week is still there:
* KDE Plasma 5.13.4
* Linux kernel 4.17.12
* RPM packaging changes: the SUSE specific configuration is being
moved to a separate package, theoretically making maintenance of the
rpm package easier.
* binutils 2.31: breaks grub2 and qemu
* ncurses 6.1-20180707: breaks Xen (deprecations added, Xen builds
with -Werror)
* Usage of the new System Role selection instead of the legacy
‘desktop selection’
* Python 3.7
* KDE Applications 18.08.0 (release candidate currently in testing,
will be delivered when final)
Cheers,
Dominique

==== kvm_stat ====
Version update (4.17.0 -> 4.17.10)

is useful to multiple architectures which have kvm support.

represent this package in any meaningful way.

Dear Stefan, hi list,
after returning from vacation, I upgraded a tumbleweed installation (zypper
dup), but X doesn't start anymore. It boiled down to:

[ 30.577] (EE) Caught signal 11 (Segmentation fault). Server aborting
Deviation from a standard installation:
libvnc is enabled with default parameters (in /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/10-
libvnc.conf),
display manager is kdm of course, (since sddm doesn't support XDMCP).
System is using an AMD A6-6400K APU with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics
Reverting to Tumbleweed as of 2 weeks ago (last dup: 10180719 00:48) fixes
this problem and makes the system usable again. Disabling VNC makes X work as
well, but it is *primary* used via VNC.
Does anything changed with randr (protocol) lately, that tigervnc depends on?
Any other ideas? bugzilla?
While at it:
Identifier "Screen0" in /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/10-libvnc.conf is missing a
closing ". SR?
I attempted to build a tigervnc 1.9.0, based on our 1.8.0, but failed so far.
Most patches apply with manual fixes only, some are upstream, but are missing
hunks, the cert and autoconf patches aren't applicable easily, and in the end,
it failed to compile :-(. Postponed it..
Cheers,
Pete
