Dear All,
I'm Maurizio and some of you may know me as MauG on Freenode and
Discord. This is my first email to the Factory Mailing list so nice to
e-meet you all :).
I'd like to submit the package "menulibre" to you, which I already
maintain on X11:xfce:
"Menulibre" is a light but advanced application menu editor similar to
"Alacarte" but more feature rich and independent from any Desktop
Environment. It's a very good fit for light environments such as Xfce,
with Whisker Menu already integrating it by default if installed. In
addition Budgie, Cinnamon, GNOME, KDE (Plasma), LXDE, LXQt, MATE,
Pantheon, Unity, are all supported.
Menulibre is particularly useful for people who are not comfortable in
editing config files to change menu entries, like for example new
Linux users. Other distributions like Fedora, Mint and Xubuntu include
this package as default for Xfce installations.
It is actively maintained on Launchpad: https://launchpad.net/menulibre
I've prepared a package on: /X11:xfce/menulibre
I would very much appreciate feedbacks from anyone who may find it
useful as I would really like to see this in Factory/Tumbleweed.
Thank you all for your attention!
Best Regards,
Maurizio Galli

[opensuse-factory] Fwd: Bug? Re: problem with static linking. of util-linux utils meant to be statically linkable...

So I should file this as a bug against factory or tumbleweed? There
was some disagreement about whether or not they should be treated
the same?
Because these utils 'should' be statically linkable and *are* on
redhat (which I thought opensuse was based on). So how
did static linking get broken for us but still work for redhat?
-------- Original Message --------
Subject: problem with static linking. of util-linux utils meant to be statically linkable...
Date: Sat, 06 Oct 2018 12:30:59 -0700
From: L A Walsh <suse(a)tlinx.org>
To: SuSE Linux <opensuse(a)opensuse.org>
Was trying the rc1 version of util-linux 2.33, and it has an option
to link several of its utils statically.
It works for the maintainer on redhat, and I was wondering why
I'm having problems on opensuse...
> $ ./configure --enable-static-programs=mount,umount
> $ make mount.static umount.static
.....
so I see... Except I got:
CC sys-utils/mount_static-mount.o
CCLD mount.static
libtool: warning: complete static linking is impossible in this
configuration
/usr/bin/ld: total time in link: 0.038189
CC sys-utils/umount_static-umount.o
CCLD umount.static
libtool: warning: complete static linking is impossible in this
configuration
/usr/bin/ld: total time in link: 0.039017
with ldd:
Ishtar:tools/util-linux/util-linux-2.33-rc1> ldd mount.static
linux-vdso.so.1 (0x00007ffc38d78000)
librt.so.1 => /lib64/librt.so.1 (0x0000003001c00000)
libc.so.6 => /lib64/libc.so.6 (0x0000003000800000)
libpthread.so.0 => /lib64/libpthread.so.0 (0x0000003000c00000)
/lib64/ld-linux-x86-64.so.2 (0x00007f81b9262000)
So why would it work on redhat but not opensuse? Any ideas?

==== python-kiwi ====
Version update (9.16.12 -> 9.16.18)
- Bump version: 9.16.17 ? 9.16.18
- Create parent qgroup when snapper is present
This commit creates a new parent quota group (1/0) of level 1 when
btrfs_quota_groups is enabled and snapper present into the image
root tree.
Related to bsc#1093518 and #812
- Bump version: 9.16.16 ? 9.16.17
- Fixup make build target
Don't include auto generated schema docs into the source
tarball. Also cleanup MANIFEST.in from files no longer
present in the repository
- Bump version: 9.16.15 ? 9.16.16
- Disable warnings report from pytest
By default pytest now generates warnings for all modules
used in the tox environment. This information is nice
but taints the test output of the code of this project
and is therefore unwanted.
- Bump version: 9.16.14 ? 9.16.15
- Customize latex output for look and feel
- Update development doc chapter per review by Tom
- Make volume id customizable for installation ISOs
This commit makes volid attribute also available for OEM images.
The installation media makes use of the volid value. Only posix
safe names are allowed, up to 32 characters.
Fixes #811
- Include PDF build of documentation to the package
Bundle a PDF version of the online documentation with the rpm package
build. Due to the complexity of getting a latex build environment into
the travis CI which does not take forever to install, the bundling of
a built PDF into the pypi archive has been skipped. Users installing
from pypi would need to install a latex env on their machine and
run make latexpdf from the installed bundle.
This Fixes #819
- Update docs for setting up development environment
Reference py3.6 when showing example tox call. Also
delete a py version reference where it was not needed
- Update kiwi tools README
Delete obsolete entries for tools no longer present
- Adding bugfix trace for bsc#1108508
bsc#1108508 ticket was fixed with bf556a96 and 77517cff commits. Just
adding the ticket reference here.
- Fixed disk detection for live iso in loopback grub
If the live iso is used as a disk on e.g USB sticks and
is configured to setup a persistent write space via the
initrd option rd.live.overlay.persistent, it's required
to find the disk device to create a write partition on
it.
This detection worked if the live iso is binary dumped
on the disk and bootet due to the hybrid support each
iso built by kiwi provides.
However if the live ISO deployment should not destroy
existing data on the disk there is an alternative setup
which uses grub's loopback support and puts the iso as a
file on some partition of the disk. In this mode the
kiwi-live dracut module failed to find the disk device
and could not setup a persistent write partition.
- Bump version: 9.16.13 ? 9.16.14
- Fixed spec template
Directory delimiter missing in call for install_dracut target
- Bump version: 9.16.12 ? 9.16.13
- Make use of kiwi/utils/sysconfig
This commit makes use the sysconfig kiwi utility in order to
read and eventually update the /etc/sysconfig/snapper file.
- Snapper configuration for btrfs quota support refactored
This commit refactors the snapper configuration for btrfs quota support
when btrfs_root_is_snapshot is enabled. The sysconfig file
/etc/sysconfig/snapper is now taken into consideration.
Fixes bsc#1093518
- Fixed overlay of intermediate config files
Some config files e.g etc/hosts needs to be temporary copied
from the buildsystem host to the image root system. This is
done by a custom copy with the .kiwi extension and a symlink
to that file. During the installation process the package
manager either overwrites the file or creates a .rpmnew variant.
In case a .rpmnew variant exists there is code in kiwi which
restores that .rpmnew variant to become the real file. However
that _restore_intermediate_config_rpmnew_variants() method
runs after overlay files has been applied to the system because
it's part of the final cleanup step. In order to preserve
an eventual overlay version of the file the .rpmnew variant
gets only restored if the real file does not exist.
This Fixes #807
- Fixed dice documentation
The chapter: Building in a Self-Contained Environment holds
a fixed ruby version in the package install which was outdated.
It also still referenced the container as tar.xz but we have
changed to uncompressed containers by default a while back
- Fixed filesystem builder use of exclude list
kiwi defines a global Defaults.get_exclude_list_for_root_data_sync
method but it was not used in the scope of the filesystem builder.
Thus this builder was missing the exclusion of the .buildenv
file. This references Issue #422 and Fixes #814
- Enhance /etc/snapper/configs/root file parser
- Fix quota groups management when snapper is present
* Fixes the config file path if root is snapshot
* Uses the correct QGROUP="<group>" syntax
* Do not overwrite the config file if already present
Fixes bsc#1093518
- Separate dracut module install by Makefile target
The dracut modules like kiwi provides it should not be part of the
default install target. If kiwi gets installed from source or via
pip all dracut code gets installed on that system which is unwanted
and in the worst case leads to boot trouble next time this system
rebuilds its initrd via dracut. Therefore an extra Makefile target
which is used in the spec of an rpm but not in the install target
of setup.py is provided in this commit.
As a consequence the installation from pip will not install any
dracut modules on that system which is intentional. Installing from
source requires to run make install_dracut which if called assumes
the caller knows what he/she does :)
==== python-libvirt-python ====

- Do more misc spec file fixes:
* Be explicit in spec file about Version used for all subpackages
(again, to avoid subpackage ordering issues). Default Release
tag is also brought in by obs format_spec_file service
* Delete binary blob s390-netboot.img, which we rebuild
* Don't provide separate Url for qemu-kvm package - the main qemu
website provides easily findable link for kvm specifics
* Associate petalogix-ml605.dtb with qemu-extra instead of qemu-ppc
* More entry sorting
- Correct some versioning as follows:
* Accurately reflect the qemu-ipxe package version value by adding
"+" at the end
* Don't overwrite seabios .version file, since now (for quite some
time actually) upstream tarball creation creates this file and
the value we are writing to it is actually wrong
- Make spec file improvements, including the following:
* Add qemu.keyring to enable package source verification
* Create srcname macro to identify source file name separately from
package name
* Create alternate to %version to avoid subpackage ordering
causing inadvertantly wrong %version value at point of use
* Sort some entries
* Be more consistent with macro syntax usage
* Minor file tweaks as done by osc format_spec_file service
- Re-sync openSUSE and SUSE SLE qemu packages. This changes file
is the openSUSE one with this entry providing the intervening
SLE CVE, FATE, and bugzilla references, which are still addressed
in this package, and not yet called out in this changes file.

- Update to v3.0.0: See http://wiki.qemu.org/ChangeLog/3.0
Don't read anything into the major version number update. It's
been decided to increase the major version number each year.
Take note that ongoing feature deprecation is tracked at both
http://wiki.qemu-project.org/Features/LegacyRemoval and in
Appendix B of the qemu-doc.* files installed with the qemu package.
Some noteworthy changes:
* PPC64 host fixes (page size, mmap alignment, interrupted syscall,
F_*LK64)
* Fixes for several syscalls: mmap with 0 length, setsockopt, netlink
* new syscalls: swapcontext (ppc), get_tls (ARM)
* Most errors are now affected by -d rather than just dumped to stderr
* qemu-binfmt-conf.sh: new options to use persistent (F) flag, ignore
the OS/ABI field
* add support of FDPIC for ARM
* Support for ARM's Scalable Vector Extensions

[opensuse-factory] Tumbleweed - Review of the week 2018/40
by Dominique Leuenberger / DimStar 05 Oct '18
by Dominique Leuenberger / DimStar 05 Oct '18
05 Oct '18
Dear Tumbleweed users and hackers,
During week 2018/40, some infrastructure issues (unavailability of
download.opensuse.org) hit us again – which meant we were not able to
get representative tests for new snapshots out for two days. This, in
turn, resulted in ‘only’ 3 snapshots being released this week: 0928,
1001 and fresh off the press: 1002.
The most relevant changes in those snapshots were:
* Linux kernel 4.18.9
* KDE Frameworks 5.50.0
* iptables 1.8.0
* Qt 5.11.2
* Mozilla Firefox 62.0.2
* GStreamer 1.14.3
* Java 11.0.0 – final release
The things in staging are largely unchanged since my last review – and
can benefit from extra eyes and hands looking after them:
* glibc 2.28, Python 3.7, openssl 1.1.1: the three all interdepend on
each other and cause a bunch of new failures – See Staging:C
* GNOME 3.30 – changes in GDM require adjustments in openQAs test
handling (gdm now shuts down after login)
* ncurses 6.1-20180707: breaks Xen (deprecations added, Xen builds
with -Werror)
* KDE Plasma 5.14.0 (currently, the beta 5.13.90 is being staged for
integration testing. WE will only ship once 5.14.0 is released)
* Linux kernel 4.18.11 and beyond
* GO 1.11 (currently, cri-o fails the test suite in this setup)
Cheers,
Dominique

==== mozilla-nss ====
Version update (3.37.3 -> 3.38)
Subpackages: libfreebl3 libsoftokn3 mozilla-nss-certs mozilla-nss-tools
- update to NSS 3.38
* required by Firefox 62.0
New Functionality
* Added support for the TLS Record Size Limit Extension
* When creating a certificate request (CSR) using certutil -R, an
existing orphan private key can be reused. Parameter -k may be
used to specify the ID of an existing orphan key. The available
orphan key IDs can be displayed using command certutil -K.
* When using certutil -O to print the chain for a given certificate
nickname, the new parameter --simple-self-signed may be provided,
which can avoid ambiguous output in some scenarios.
New Functions
* SECITEM_MakeItem - Allocate and make an item with the requested contents
(secitem.h)
New Macros
* SSL_RECORD_SIZE_LIMIT - used to control the TLS Record Size Limit
Extension (in ssl.h)
Notable Changes
* Fixed CVE-2018-0495 (bmo#1464971)
* Various security fixes in the ASN.1 code
* NSS automatically enables caching for SQL database storage on
Linux, if it is located on a network filesystem that's known to
benefit from caching.
* When repeatedly importing the same certificate into an SQL database,
the existing nickname will be kept.

==== pcre ====
Version update (8.41 -> 8.42)
Subpackages: libpcre1 libpcre1-32bit libpcre16-0 libpcrecpp0 libpcreposix0 pcre-devel
- pcre 8.42:
* Fix outdated real_pcre definitions in pcre.h.in
* pcregrep was truncating components of file names to 128
characters when processing files with the -r option, and also
truncating path names to 512 characters. There is now a check on
the absolute length of full path file names, which may be up to
2047 characters long
* Using pcre_dfa_exec(), in UTF mode when UCP support was not
defined, there was the possibility of a false positive match when
caselessly matching a "not this character" item such as
[^\x{1234}] (with a code point greater than 127) because the
"other case" variable was not being initialized
* Although pcre_jit_exec checks whether the pattern is compiled
in a given mode, it was also expected that at least one mode is
available. This is fixed and pcre_jit_exec returns with
PCRE_ERROR_JIT_BADOPTION when the pattern is not optimized by JIT
at all.
* The line number and related variables such as match counts in
pcregrep were all int variables, causing overflow when files with
more than 2147483647 lines were processed (assuming 32-bit ints).
They have all been changed to unsigned long ints.
* If a backreference with a minimum repeat count of zero was first in
a pattern, apart from assertions, an incorrect first matching
character could be recorded. For example, for the pattern
/(?=(a))\1?b/, "b" was incorrectly set as the first character of
a match.
* Fix out-of-bounds read for partial matching of /./ against an
empty string when the newline type is CRLF.
* When matching using the the REG_STARTEND feature of the POSIX
API with a non-zero starting offset, unset capturing groups
with lower numbers than a group that did capture something were
not being correctly returned as "unset" (that is, with offset
values of -1).
* Matching the pattern /(*UTF)\C[^\v]+\x80/ against an 8-bit
string containing multi-code-unit characters caused bad
behaviour and possibly a crash. This issue was fixed for other
kinds of repeat in release 8.37 by change 38, but repeating
character classes were overlooked.
* A small fix to pcregrep to avoid compiler warnings for
- Wformat-overflow=2.
* Added --enable-jit=auto support to configure.ac.
* Fix misleading error message in configure.ac.
==== perl-Apache-AuthCookie ====
Version update (3.25 -> 3.27)
- updated to 3.27
see /usr/share/doc/packages/perl-Apache-AuthCookie/Changes
3.27 2017-07-28
- Fix POD spelling error [#118545].
3.26 2016-09-30
- remove unused module Apache::AuthCookie::Autobox from dist
- remove CGI.pm dependency. CGI.pm has been removed from perl core, which
was the primary reason we used it in the first place. Replaced with
dependency on lighter weight set of three modules:
* HTTP::Body
* WWW::Form::UrlEncoded
* Hash::MultiValue
Also recommended (but not required) is WWW::Form::UrlEncoded::XS
- Add optional support for charset encoding. If you have something like
PerlSetVar MyAuthNameEncoding UTF-8
Then AuthCookie with now automatically decode parameters using the given
encoding now. AuthCookie params() data will be decoded automatically if
this is on. See details in AuthCookie module documentation. In addition
r->user will be encoded (using byte semantics) using this encoding.
* **** IMPORTANT *****
If you turn this on, this could break your code. r->user() will now be
byte encoded using the given encoding. If you use usernames that contain
non-ascii characters you either need to use decoded_user(), or decode
r->user() yourself in your subclasses.
See the AuthCookie docs for more details.
- add optional support for decoding httpd.conf requires directives. This is
enabled with a RequiresEncoding setting:
PerlSetVar MyAuthNameRequiresEncoding UTF-8
Then decoded_requires($r) will return the decoded value of $r->requires
You only need this if you have non-ascii characters in your requires
directives such as:
Requires user programmr
- add decoded_user($r) method to get the value of r->user decoded using
character semantics instead of bytes. Due to the fact that r->user is a C
API method we cannot get character semantics on r->user directly. If no
Encoding directive is in effect, then this is the same as r->user.
- add encoding($r): string which returns the value of the Encoding directive
that is in effect for the current request.

==== python-M2Crypto ====
Version update (0.29.0 -> 0.30.1)
Subpackages: python2-M2Crypto python3-M2Crypto
- Update to 0.30.1:
* Various small typos (Windows builds, Fix SSL.Connection.__del__)
* The project is now Linux-distribution agnostic
* Replace all old-style classes with the new ones (it shouldn't
cause any problems, but feel free to file an issue, if it does)
* Do not by-pass a potential transfer decoding in m2urllib2
* Update M2Crypto.six with 1.11.0 and replace our local workarounds
with new functions.
* SSLv3 just removed.
* Don't support Python 2.6 on Windows anymore. Windows users don't
have python as a system package, so they are usually more likely
to upgrade anyway.
==== rpm ====
Subpackages: rpm-build rpm-devel
- Add upstream patch that prints dwz compression rate
new patch: dwz-compression.patch
==== rubygem-pg ====
Version update (0.20.0 -> 1.1.3)

== v1.1.2 [2018-08-28] Michael Granger <ged(a)FaerieMUD.org>
- Don't generate aliases for JOHAB encoding.
This avoids linking to deprecated/private function rb_enc(db)_alias().
== v1.1.1 [2018-08-27] Michael Granger <ged(a)FaerieMUD.org>
- Reduce deprecation warnings to only one message per deprecation.
== v1.1.0 [2018-08-24] Michael Granger <ged(a)FaerieMUD.org>
Deprecated (disable warnings per PG_SKIP_DEPRECATION_WARNING=1):
- Forwarding conn.exec to conn.exec_params is deprecated.
- Forwarding conn.exec_params to conn.exec is deprecated.
- Forwarding conn.async_exec to conn.async_exec_params.
- Forwarding conn.send_query to conn.send_query_params is deprecated.
- Forwarding conn.async_exec_params to conn.async_exec is deprecated.
PG::Connection enhancements:
- Provide PG::Connection#sync_* and PG::Connection#async_* query methods for explicit calling syncronous or asynchronous libpq API.
- Make PG::Connection#exec and siblings switchable between sync and async API per PG::Connection.async_api= and change the default to async flavors.
- Add async flavors of exec_params, prepare, exec_prepared, describe_prepared and describe_portal.
They are identical to their syncronous counterpart, but make use of PostgreSQL's async API.
- Replace `rb_thread_fd_select()` by faster `rb_wait_for_single_fd()` in `conn.block` and `conn.async_exec` .
- Add PG::Connection#discard_results .
- Raise an ArgumentError for strings containing zero bytes by #escape, #escape_literal, #escape_identifier, #quote_ident and PG::TextEncoder::Identifier. These methods previously truncated strings.
Result retrieval enhancements:
- Add PG::Result#tuple_values to retrieve all field values of a row as array.
- Add PG::Tuple, PG::Result#tuple and PG::Result#stream_each_tuple .
PG::Tuple offers a way to lazy cast result values.
- Estimate PG::Result size allocated by libpq and notify the garbage collector about it when running on Ruby-2.4 or newer.
- Make the estimated PG::Result size available to ObjectSpace.memsize_of(result) .
Type cast enhancements:
- Replace Ruby code by a faster C implementation of the SimpleDecoder's timestamp decode functions. github #20
- Interpret years with up to 7 digists and BC dates by timestamp decoder.
- Add text timestamp decoders for UTC vs. local timezone variations.
- Add text timestamp encoders for UTC timezone.
- Add decoders for binary timestamps: PG::BinaryDecoder::Timestamp and variations.
- Add PG::Coder#flags accessor to allow modifications of de- respectively encoder behaviour.
- Add a flag to raise TypeError for invalid input values to PG::TextDecoder::Array .
- Add a text decoder for inet/cidr written in C.
- Add a numeric decoder written in C.
- Ensure input text is zero terminated for text format in PG::Coder#decode .
Source code enhancements:
- Fix headers and permission bits of various repository files.
Bugfixes:
- Properly decode array with prepended dimensions. #272
For now dimension decorations are ignored, but a correct Array is returned.
- Array-Decoder: Avoid leaking memory when an Exception is raised while parsing. Fixes #279
- Add more rpmlint filters to avoid warnings which are caused by this gem
- Removed license line from gem2rpm.yml as the license can be detected
automatically
- Drop rubygem-pg-0.17.1_shebang.patch as it's no longer needed
- updated to version 1.0.0
see installed History.rdoc
== v1.0.0 [2018-01-10] Michael Granger <ged(a)FaerieMUD.org>

- MINGW: Workaround segfault due to GCC linker error in conjunction with MSVC.
This happens when linking to PostgreSQL-10.0-x64 from EnterpriseDB.
Documentation fixes:
- Add PostgreSQL version since when the given function is supported. #263
- Better documentation to `encoder` and `decoder` arguments of COPY related methods.
== v0.21.0 [2017-06-12] Michael Granger <ged(a)FaerieMUD.org>
Enhancements:
- Move add_dll_directory to the Runtime namespace for newest versions
of RubyInstaller.
- Deprecate PGconn, PGresult, and PGError top-level constants; a warning
will be output the first time one of them is used. They will be
removed in the upcoming 1.0 release.
Documentation fixes:
- Update the docs for PG::Result#cmd_tuples
New Samples:
- Add an example of the nicer #copy_data way of doing `COPY`.

Version update (0.14.0 -> 0.14.1)
- Upstream disabled support for the celt051 audio codec by default,
do likewise in the spec
- Note updated 0.14.1 build dependencies in the spec:
* OpenSSL 1.0.0 or newer is now required
* glib 2.32 required
- add upstream signing key and verify source signature
- Update to v0.14.1 stable release
The announcement email describes this release as follows:
The main change in this release is the addition of a new protocol
extension in order to support streaming the remote display as a
video stream rather than going through the QXL protocol. Together
with spice-streaming-agent, and/or with more work on the qemu/
spice-server side, this should allow streaming of 3D accelerated
VMs in the future. At this point, this part of spice-server is
still a work in progress (multi-monitor support and various
features are missing).
* avoid performance issues on Windows 10 KVM guests (boo#1109044)
* add new org.spice-space.stream.0 channel used for passing an

disconnection/reconnection (introduced in 0.13.90)
* fix regression in corner cases where images could be sent
uncompressed when they used to be compressed with QUIC
* disable TLS 1.0 support
* CELT 0.5.1 support is now disabled by default. If celt051-devel
is installed at build-time, --enable-celt051/--disable-celt051
must be explicitly specified
* drop support for unsupported OpenSSL version. OpenSSL 1.0.0 or
newer is now required
* bumped minimum required glib version to 2.32
* endianness fixes
* (small) leak fixes

Hi all,
I've stumbled upon this Bug (
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1108320) asking for USB
gadget support. The bug's resolved since adding it on Leap seems
unlikely. Yet I see it's enabled for arm64 on Tumbleweed. Would it
cause any problem for us to also enable it on x86_64?
Regards,
Nicolas

Effort is on the way to get musescore (musescore.org) in Factory. It
is a music score editing program.
I has lived in OBS in different places for many years, now it has
moved to multimedia:apps.
Kind regards,

Hi there,
There is a bug in zsh_command_not_found where it defaults to using
python2 rather than using the python version declared in the scripts
hash bang.
I was looking to fix this but I cant seem to find it in build.opensuse.org
I was hoping someone here could point me in the right direction?

I started getting errors upon `zypper dup` today. For example:
```
Warning: You are about to do a distribution upgrade with all enabled repositories. Make sure these repositories are compatible before you continue. See 'man zypper' for more information about this command.
Permission to access 'http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/Application:/Geo/openSUSE_Tumblew…' denied.
```
However, it is not just Application:Geo. Even the main OSS repo (http://download.opensuse.org/tumbleweed/repo/oss/repodata/repomd.xml) seems to be failing. I have tested multiple IPs. What has happened?
