I use OpenSUSE Tumbleweed.
In the new version of LibreOffice is a shortage of fonts. I can choose
104 fonts from the 171 available of my system fonts.
I was advised to delete ~/.config/libreoffice/.
How can I do that?
Thanks
Andre den Oudsten

Maybe this needs a bug report. But I'll start with the mailing list.
Background: I normally use Plasma 5. I am using "gdm" for login,
because I occasionally experiment with Gnome.
Shutdown is slow. Watching the messages, I see something like:
A stop job is running for ...
And this repeats over and over, until almost the 1:30 time limit for
that stop job. And then it shuts down at almost the end.
The stop job always has to do with LUKS …
[View More]partitions.
But here's the interesting thing. If I switch to using "sddm" for
login, then the system shuts down within around 5 seconds and I never
see those "stop job" messages.
So there's something about "gdm" (or perhaps "wayland") that is
hanging around for too long and delaying shutdown.
I've now switched back to "gdm" and the long delays have returned.

[opensuse-factory] openSUSE Tumbleweed - Review of the week 2017/08
by Dominique Leuenberger / DimStar 26 Feb '17
by Dominique Leuenberger / DimStar 26 Feb '17
26 Feb '17
Dear Tumbleweed users and hackers,
This week we had to cancel a couple snapshots, as a regression in grub
was detected, that caused issues on chain-loading bootloaders. But
thanks to our genius maintainers, the issue could be found, fixed and
integrated into Tumbleweed (and this despite being busy with hackweek!
A great THANK YOU!). Despite those canceled snapshots, this review will
still span 4 revisions: 0216, 0218, 0219 and 0224. And believe me,
there have been quite some things coming your …
[View More]way.
The most impacting were:
* Linux kernel 4.9.10 & 4.9.11
* Python 3.6
* Mesa 17.0
* KDE Plasma 5.9.2
* Libreoffice 5.3.0.3
Python 3.6 did cause some trouble for users of applications beyond the
rings (remember: only ring-packages are tested on integration of any
updated package). You can find a list of packages still failing at
http://goo.gl/3AX7sK – Help to get those sorted is appreciated from all
sides.
What else is coming our way in the near future:
* RPM 4.13.0.1 – A regression was already spotted during 4.13.0
staging and upstream corrected it. A handful of packages still needs
adjustments
* GLibc 2.25 – Nobody seems to be providing fixes for any of the
failures… Call for help! Please let’s move this forward
* Linux Kernel 4.10 (snapshot 0225+)
* python single-spec work: building code for multiple python targets
out of a single spec file; first submissions started
As a reminder, here once again the link to the Factory dashboard [0],
where you can see which staging areas are in need of help. All build
failures need to be addressed in one way or another for a staging
project to be moving forward.
With all this said, go forth and have a lot of fun!
Dominique

Subpackages: libmjpegutils-2_0-0
- Split the package in smaller pieces, allowing as user to keep the
main/free parts from the distribution and 'enhancing' the
capability with simple addon-packages: libmpeg2encpp-2_0-0 (as a

mjpegtools-orig-addon, which is auto-recommended when the user
has mjpegtools installed AND has a repo enabled, containing this
package AND has recommends enabled.
==== mozilla-nss ====
Version update (3.28.2 -> 3.28.3)
Subpackages: libfreebl3 libsoftokn3 mozilla-nss-certs mozilla-nss-tools
- update to NSS 3.28.3
* This is a patch release to fix binary compatibility issues.
NSS version 3.28, 3.28.1 and 3.28.2 contained changes that were
in violation with the NSS compatibility promise.
ECParams, which is part of the public API of the freebl/softokn
parts of NSS, had been changed to include an additional attribute.
That size increase caused crashes or malfunctioning with applications
that use that data structure directly, or indirectly through
ECPublicKey, ECPrivateKey, NSSLOWKEYPublicKey, NSSLOWKEYPrivateKey,
or potentially other data structures that reference ECParams.
The change has been reverted to the original state in bug
bmo#1334108.
SECKEYECPublicKey had been extended with a new attribute, named
"encoding". If an application passed type SECKEYECPublicKey to NSS
(as part of SECKEYPublicKey), the NSS library read the uninitialized
attribute. With this NSS release SECKEYECPublicKey.encoding is
deprecated. NSS no longer reads the attribute, and will always
set it to ECPoint_Undefined. See bug bmo#1340103.
- requires NSPR >= 4.13.1

* Add support for Mageia

==== pcre2 ====
Version update (10.22 -> 10.23)
- pcre2 10.23:
* major re-factoring of the pcre2_compile.c file
* Back references are now permitted in lookbehind assertions when
there are no duplicated group numbers (that is, (?| has not
been used), and, if the reference is by name, there is only one
group of that name. The referenced group must, of course be of
fixed length.
* \g{+<number>} (e.g. \g{+2} ) is now supported. It is a "forward
back reference" and can be useful in repetitions
(compare \g{-<number>} ). Perl does not recognize this syntax.
* pcre2grep now automatically expands its buffer up to a maximum
set by --max-buffer-size.
* The -t option (grand total) has been added to pcre2grep.
* A new function called pcre2_code_copy_with_tables() exists to
copy a compiled pattern along with a private copy of the
character tables that is uses.

Hi,
I would like to propose the addition of a new package to openSUSE:
Apache Cassandra.
"The Apache Cassandra database is the right choice when you
need scalability and high availability without compromising
performance. Linear scalability and proven fault-tolerance on
commodity hardware or cloud infrastructure make it the perfect
platform for mission-critical data.Cassandra's support for
replicating across multiple datacenters is best-in-class,
providing …
[View More]lower latency for your users and the peace of mind
of knowing that you can survive regional outages."
I have prepare a package of the most recent version at
https://build.opensuse.org/package/show/home:nicolasbock:midokura/cassandra
Any comments or suggestions are most welcome!
Thanks,
Nick

Hi,
I would like to propose the addition of a new package to openSUSE:
Apache Zookeeper.
"Apache ZooKeeper is an effort to develop and maintain an
open-source server which enables highly reliable distributed
coordination.
ZooKeeper is a centralized service for maintaining
configuration information, naming, providing distributed
synchronization, and providing group services. All of these
kinds of services are used in some form or another by
distributed …
[View More]applications. Each time they are implemented there
is a lot of work that goes into fixing the bugs and race
conditions that are inevitable. Because of the difficulty of
implementing these kinds of services, applications initially
usually skimp on them ,which make them brittle in the presence
of change and difficult to manage. Even when done correctly,
different implementations of these services lead to management
complexity when the applications are deployed."
I have prepare a package of the most recent version at
https://build.opensuse.org/package/show/home:nicolasbock:midokura/zookeeper
Any comments or suggestions are most welcome!
Thanks,
Nick

As written KDEPIM + Akonadi 17.04 which is not yet out yet. I do not know
which version number KMail will have for 17.04, but it will certainly be
higher than 5.3.

Hi,
currently, we see only a single mirror for Tumbleweed in EU:
List of best mirrors for IP address 2a01:4240:2e27:..., located in Czech
Republic (CZ).
Found 1 mirror in other countries, but same continent (EU)
http://gd.tuwien.ac.at/opsys/linux/opensuse/tumbleweed/repo/oss/GPLv2.txt
(at, prio 100)
That one is completely overwhelmed and only a little responsive. Any
ideas what is going on?
thanks,
