HI!
Could somebody here give a pointer how <software> within an autoyast file should
look like to have a minimal text mode installation with sshd running?
My attempts (see below) always result in X11 etc. being installed.
Many thanks in advance.
Ciao, Michael.

Hi,
I have some open ports in OpenSuSE firewall (kdeconnect, NFS client, SMFP device discovery). With wired connection everything works, but with WiFi doesn't.
I realized that there is no zone attached to wlp3s0 wireless interface. So I created file /etc/sysconfig/network/ifcfg-wlp3s0 with content:
BOOTPROTO='dhcp'
STARTMODE='auto'
After that (and firewall restart) everything started to work. I can see wlp3s0 interface attached to external zone (yast2 firewall).
But when I restart computer, then login to KDE session, connect to WiFi, it doesn't work (e.g. I can't connect to android phone via kdeconnect).
I have to restart firewall to make it work.
thanks, m.

Heads up - Issues with the Samba packages in this snapshot might mean
you may need to do a `zypper dup`
This seems to fix things if you're having issues with
gnome-control-center loading for example.

[opensuse-factory] Feedback needed: swap sharing in the new installer proposal
by Ancor Gonzalez Sosa 16 Apr '16
by Ancor Gonzalez Sosa 16 Apr '16
16 Apr '16
As you may know if you have followed previous blog posts by the YaST
team, we are currently redesigning the YaST code for managing and
proposing partitioning.
While designing the algorithm that proposes the disk layout for a new
installation we came to a philosophical question - should we try to
reuse existing swap partitions or should we always create our own?
If the current (i.e. old) installer finds a swap partition that is big
enough for our needs, it will use it instead of creating a separate one.
Although this can save some space, we are wondering if it's a good idea
to do that by default. It effectively means that we will share the swap
space with another Linux installation in the same computer. During
normal operation that can be fine, but the swap partition is also used
for suspend to disk (i.e. hibernate). That means that if we start LinuxA
while LinuxB is hibernated, we will make impossible for LinuxB to resume
the suspended execution.
Having separate swap partitions is safer from the hibernation point of
view, but it consumes potentially valuable space just to make sure that
you can run a Linux system while the other is hibernated, which can be
considered a pretty weird scenario.
So, what the geckos out there think? Do you prefer to share swap
partitions and save space or to have separate ones for better suspend
isolation? Is there some implication or use-case that we have overlooked?
In any case, take into account that this will only be the proposed
layout. You can always use expert partitioning to make your own.
Cheers.

I'm not exactly sure what's going on but I see only list message go to
spam with these messages, and they're very often yahoo domain
individuals who are affected. So I think it's something about the
relay through a mail server. The only failed item I see in Marco's
email for example is this line from the email I get from opensuse
servers.
Authentication-Results: mx.google.com;
dkim=neutral (body hash did not verify) header.i=(a)yahoo.com.br;
spf=pass (google.com: best guess record for domain of
opensuse-factory+bounces-68269-lists=colorremedies.com(a)opensuse.org
designates 195.135.221.153 as permitted sender)
smtp.mailfrom=opensuse-factory+bounces-68269-lists=colorremedies.com(a)opensuse.org;
dmarc=fail (p=REJECT dis=NONE) header.from=yahoo.com.br
Also, this is not only with opensuse mail servers, I see it with other
mail servers too, Fedora and sometimes also vger lists.

+ Enabled utf-8 mailbox support for IMAP.
+ New expandos %r and %R for comma separated list of To: and Cc:
recipients respectively.
+ Improved support for internationalized email and SMTPUTF8 (RFC653[0-3]).
! $use_idn has been renamed to $idn_decode.
+ $idn_encode controls whether outgoing email address domains will
be IDNA encoded. If your MTA supports it, unset to use utf-8
email address domains.
+ The S/MIME message digest algorithm is now specified using the
option $smime_sign_digest_alg. Note that $smime_sign_command
should be modified to include "-md %d". Please see
contrib/smime.rc.
+ $reflow_space_quotes allows format=flowed email quotes to be
displayed with spacing between them.
! multipart draft files are now supported.
+ The "-E" command line argument causes mutt to edit draft or include files.
All changes made in mutt will be saved back out to those files.
+ $resume_draft_files and $resume_edited_draft_files control how
mutt processes draft files.
+ For classic gpg mode, $pgp_decryption_okay should be set to verify
multipart/encrypted are actually encrypted. Please see
contrib/gpg.rc for the suggested value.
! mailto URL header parameters by default are now restricted to
'body' and 'subject'.
+ mailto_allow and unmailto_allow can be used to add or remove
allowed mailto header parameters.
! The method of setting $hostname has been changed. Rather than
scanning /etc/resolv.conf, the domain will now be determined using
DNS calls.

Hi Larry,
I sent an e-mail to myself on my gmail account and I get it regularly

[opensuse-factory] openSUSE Tumbleweed – Review of the Weeks 2016/14 & 15
by Dominique Leuenberger / DimStar 15 Apr '16
by Dominique Leuenberger / DimStar 15 Apr '16
15 Apr '16
Dear Tumbleweed users and hackers,
It seems to be difficult in the last weeks to find really interesting
new features to write about. The fact that Plasma 5.6 and GNOME 3.20
are already available takes a lot of wind out of the sails. So a
request to all of you: keep the things coming 🙂
This review spans again two weeks and touches the snapshots 0401, 0404,
0405, 0406, 0407, 0408, 0411 & 0412.
Noteworthy updates:
* Plasma 5.6.2
* XChat has been replaced by hexchat
* KDE Framework 5.21.0
* Mesa 11.2.0
And of course, as always, many more version updates and bigger and
smaller bug fixes.
The next snapshot to be released, 0414 will contain the security fixes
for SAMBA, which might be awaited by many of you. You can expect the
snapshot ‘shortly’: the build process is almost completed and the
snapshot will be handed over to openQA.
Things currently being prepared in the Staging areas:
* GLibC 2.23. NOTE: once this hits Tumbleweed you have to cope with a
larger update as we will do a full build cycle including all
dependencies
* GNOME 3.20.1 – mostly minor fixes and updated translations
* Qt 5.6.0: The YaST issue is still pending. The installer does not
have the keyboard focus on startup
* Linux Kernel 4.5.1
Have a fun weekend ahead,
Dominique

Ok I undesrtood the *alien* software update app is _"gnome-software"_!
Wonder if I can get rid of it by uninstalling and by living just with
the default *"gpk-update-viewer"* also because just for updating simple
audio video packages, it ask me to install and reboot(?) in fact there
is a single button in its GUI "Reboot and Install" that's a weird
option/request IMHO, since I'm not installing new kernel or vídeo
drivers...Is there a configuration setting for this app?
Tks.
Cheers,

build time.
* Tests and benchmarks now build correctly on OSX.
* An XKB keymap provides a name for each key it defines.
Traditionally these names are limited to at most 4 characters,
and are thus somewhat obscure, but might still be useful
(xkbcommon lifts the 4 character limit).
* The new functions xkb_keymap_key_get_name() and
xkb_keymap_key_by_name() can be used to get the name of a key
or find a key by name. Note that a key may have aliases.

well (with Xorg >= 1.16).
* RandR CRTC transforms now work correctly (but for now still exhibit
tearing even with TearFree).
* The RandR 1.4 provider name is now no longer hardcoded to "amdgpu"
but constructed from the GPU chipset name and bus ID, allowing
several GPUs supported by this driver to be distinguished by name.
* The RandR primary output is now always explicitly marked as such.
* The driver can prevent clients trying to use the DRI3 extension over a
display connection forwarded via SSH from hanging.
* VDPAU/OpenGL interoperation can now work with DRI3 enabled.
* Many more fixes for issues using the DRI3/Present extensions.
* Plus many other small improvements and fixes. Thanks to everybody who
contributed to this release in any way!*

* The RandR primary output is now always explicitly marked as such.
* The driver can now make use of more than 256MB of VRAM for scanout
buffers, allowing e.g. virtual desktop sizes >= 8192x8192 to work.
