Hi there, I just did yesterday a new KVM guest install with last Tumbleweed ppc64le iso (1) I do not know if related error message is important or not (at least it is not critical for my install) But looking at the details of the linuxrc message I extracted lines at (2) My question: Should we ignore the line about "Error getting authority: ..." ? [opensuse-factory] suse-prime-alt package now available for Optimus cards

Hi all, Thanks to Bo Simonsen, a great stable substitute for Bumblebee is now available for Leap and Tumbleweed. It used to be only available on Ubuntu. suse-prime-alt nvidia-prime like package for OpenSUSE Assumptions: * You are running OpenSUSE LEAP 42.1 / Tumbleweed * You don't have bumblebee installed * You have installed the nvidia driver using: https://build.opensuse.org/project/subprojects/home:Bumblebee-Project:nVidia Leap repo: http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/bosim:/suse-prime/openSUSE_… TW repo: http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/bosim:/suse-prime/openSUSE_… After install please do: 1. Add the following lines if [ -f /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc.d/prime-offload.sh ]; then . /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc.d/prime-offload.sh fi To /etc/X11/xdm/Xsetup after the line ". /etc/sysconfig/displaymanager" 2. Hi Is there a template for the defaults? During one of the various tumbleweed/ plasma 5 updates, i've had default associations changed. If i check Applications/Default Applications/File Manager it now says to use Gwenview to browse directories instead of Dolphin - seems a strange setting Gimp also seems to have become the default viewer of png and jpeg images - an overkill to view images. There may be more but i've not been found them yet. i have changed them to more sensible defaults. [opensuse-factory] A new rpmlint check is needed for appdata.xml

Since openSUSE:Leap:42.1 libzypp has been aggressive with desktop applications that provide appdata.xml files along with desktop files. See https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=952324 and it's duplicates. Certain information has to match and the appdata.xml has to be provided along with the desktop files, I don't profess to fully understand them but I do know that these files and proper installation of them is important for a good gui user experience. Could this be included in the rpmlint test in obs to make it easier to pick up problems before they end up as bug reports. The appdata.xml file has to provided and it's name at least has to match it's desktop file name. [opensuse-factory] changing runlevel drops internet connection

I have five local networked Tw machines which all drop network when the runlevel/multi-user/graphical target is changed. Plays havoc with remote access. One with a wired interface retains network but is inaccessable as external sites are firewalled requiring a SuSEfirewall2 restart. [opensuse-factory] Default mime-associations

Hi everybody, Plasma users have been bitten by a bug lately that file associations were messed up for them. The reason for this is two fold: * glib2 was fixed to follow the xdg specification to find the right mime associations. The old spec was to check a $desktop-defaults.list file in /usr/share/applications, then fallback to defaults.list in the same location. openSUSE always provided 'defaults.list' (non DE-specific). When I realized that glib2 still put defaults.list instead of the now correct, xdg specified, 'mimeapps.list' in place, I went ahead and fixed that. Following the old way, mimeapps.list was put in the same way. I wrongly assumed that KDE would also have loaded the defaults.list before, as there was never a kde-defaults.list present. Turns out: I was wrong :) and KDE/Plasma simply ignored that... but it no longer ignores mimeapps.list... D'oh! Raymond just submitted a fix for glib2 that will put "GNOME's mime associations" correctly into gnome-mimeapps.list. This file won't be used by Plasma and as such the issue is solved for Plasma... But that's just the beginning of the trouble now: other DE's that relied on mimemapps.list (or defaults.list before that) won't get the benefit from this file anymore. I can imagine that XFCE, LXDE, Mate, BeatMeToDeath won't do the right thing anymore and that those desktop will have to ship an own variant of mimeapps.list for their own desktop - with the positive side effect that the desktop maintainers themselves can be much more granular in what defaults they want to deliver to their users... so not all bad. If you maintain (or are interested in) any of those desktops, please try to rename /usr/share/applications/mimeapps.list to /usr/share/applications/gnome-mimeapps.list (same as glib will do for you soon) and see what effects this has on your DE. In case everything seems a bit random you might want to deliver a correct specification for your desktop via one of the DE-specific main packages.
