[opensuse-factory] [TW] dependency cycles between services resulting in some services not to be started at all

Hi there, I have seen messages during boot similar to the following remote-fs-pre.target: Job remote-fs-pre.target/start delete to break ordering cycle starting with remote-fs.target/start since quite some time now. While it sometimes results in some services not being started at all (e.g. named or nfs-server), I always found manually starting the service solved the problem for me. But, since the most current snapshot (20160126), this now also occurs for SuSEfirewall2_init.service, which I find kind of scary. All in all, it looks to me that the dependencies between targets and services are not quite consistent. [opensuse-factory] New package for Factory: tcpreplay

I'm going to submit a new package for Factory: tcpreplay. It's a set of utilities allowing to process network traffic capture files (produced by e.g. tcpdump), modify them and replay the traffic either as is or tweaked in various ways. These utilities are valuable for network testing and analyzing networking issues. Project home page is http://tcpreplay.appneta.com/ All utilities are open source (GPL3) and seem well maintained. [opensuse-factory] kernel 4.4.0 causes application lockup and unusable interfaces with radeon hardware

Just a warning, myself and some others in IRC have been experiencing some odd behavior/freezing (show stoppers) with 4.4.0 kernel on radeon OSS drivers. There are a couple seemingly relevant upstream mailing list threads and patches. I am working through trying to test some of them out with the hope of finding a solution. In the mean time I still have a 4.3.x kernel which does not exhibit the issues. [Status quo] Driver updates are made for a specific distribution and are placed into a /linux/suse/ARCH-DIST/ directory. DIST is either sles or sled + version number or the openSUSE release number. So latest DISTs are sles12, sled12, 13.2. Note that we distinguish SLES and SLED but not service packs (there is no DIST sles12-sp1, for example). [Problem] There are no provisions for either Tumbleweed or Leap. The straightforward way would be to set DIST to (e.g.) 'tw' for Tumbleweed (no version tag) and 'leap' for Leap (with or without version?). E.g. /linux/suse/x86_64-tw/ /linux/suse/x86_64-leap/ or /linux/suse/x86_64-leap42.1/. [Question] So, my question here is: is that sufficient? Or do we need to distinguish Tumbleweed versions somehow? When we hand driver updates to customers does anyone notice that they are limited to a specific DIST anyway? I guess the customer just gets some URL pointing to a file to use. So the DIST in the subdir might even be superfluous. Or, OTOH, does it make sense to be as strict as possible, like DIST=tw20160201? Note that you _can_ already check for all kinds of conditions in your driver update to ensure it's only applied under certain circumstances. mkdud (software.opensuse.org) for example comes with checks for service pack versions. Dear openSuse! Before the branch of openSuse Leap 42.1 there were to many issues with GCC 5 so it did not become the default compiler. Later Richard sent several status updates. What's the current status? Can GCC 5 or later GCC 6 become the default? Related, I wanted to test GCC 6 from devel/:gcc but it is disabled for Leap 42.1. Is there a reason? Can it be please enabled? Hi all, I want to ask what is the difference between Stagings:A-J and adi:1-...? Are the stagings used for packages that affect the openqa tests or for packages in ring0-2 and the adi's for stuff that is not tested in openqa? When are adi- projects checked in to factory? Enable delta RPMs for TW (was Re: [opensuse-factory] New Tumbleweed snapshot 20160117 released!)

Hi list, I'd like to raise a topic from almost a year ago, http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-factory/2015-02/msg00032.html > $ sudo zypper up > ...skip... > The following product is going to be upgraded: > "openSUSE Tumbleweed" > > 2890 packages to upgrade, 7 new. > Overall download size: 2,12 GiB. In the meantime `zypper lu` says almost (no, I didn't go through each of ~2900 lines of it) every package got just build number increased. Not package version, not upstream version, only build number. And I've got that gut feeling that build number increment is only change for 99% of affected packages. I wonder how big would delta RPMs with such changes be, something like 6K, correct? Imagine the bandwith (and more importantly, the time) they'd save, if someone would enable building and publishing them for Tumbleweed. So, could delta RPMs be built and published in Tumbleweed? Or at least can we have a steady resolution on that topic? I have up to date TW with kernel-default 4.4.0-1.1. Running zypper dup offers to install 4.4.0-1.2. Zypper up does see this kernel (and zypper info even says that installed package is outdated) but won't install it. I just try to understand why. Any option to see why and how zypper decides to skip it? zypper --verbose does not help.
