[opensuse-factory] Status of GCC 5 transition?
Dear openSuse! Before the branch of openSuse Leap 42.1 there were to many issues with GCC 5 so it did not become the default compiler. Later Richard sent several status updates. What's the current status? Can GCC 5 or later GCC 6 become the default? Related, I wanted to test GCC 6 from devel/:gcc but it is disabled for Leap 42.1. Is there a reason? Can it be please enabled? There was never a plan to switch the system compiler for Leap. It comes with gcc 5 - and we will very likely integrate gcc6 when it's ready, but the system compiler is the one of SLE12. Similarly, I'm missing cross-aarch64-gcc5 for Leap. Should this be enabled in Leap's gcc5 package via MR, or can Leap builds please be enabled in devel:gcc? I've enabled both for Leap. Richard.
