On Tumbleweed, I'm hitting
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=89842https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=747115
"Use new legacy tray in system with nvidia nouveau drivers hangs all
gnome"
Suggested fix from freedesktop is to downgrade libdrm from 2.4.60 back
to 2.4.59 .
Can we do that?

Whenever a new kernel is installed in openSUSE (or when I run the
command in oS, 'grub2-mkconfig -o /boot/grub2/grub.cfg') there are 9 new
files recreated.
However, when it comes to Tumbleweed there are only 8 files recreated.
The missing file (in TW) is, for example when kernel 4 was installed,
'symtypes-4-0-0-1.<*>-desktop.gz. This has occurred for previous kernel
upgrades so it is not "an ooops" for kernel 4.
Why is that?

Hi everyone !
I would like to introduce gnulib into Factory.
"The GNU portability library is a macro system and C declarations and
definitions for commonly-used API elements and abstracted system behaviors.
It can be used to improve portability and other functionality in your
programs."
Some gnu projects require it to build correctly, and we can't update
some of them because they try to download gnulib and to build it during
compilation.
I've submitted gnulib to devel: openSUSE:Factory, sr#298336, as I didn't
find a more appropriate place.
Regards.

Is anyone having problems with darktable git builds by Togan Muftuoglu?
http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/toganm:/photography/openSUS…
I have used his builds for a great time, probably over four years with few
problems, but since 6 April and Tumbleweed 20150405 release and
darktable-1.7.0.1428334157.3358a8b-1361.1.TM.x86_64.rpm, I only get a dark
screen displayed when starting and no control works. Cannot change to
full-screen using f11, to darkroom mode or even quit.
At first I suspected a bad build but as a usability crutch I maintain a
cache of the last ~15 builds and every one fails in the same manner.
Versions fail that previously worked for me, prior to Tw 20150405. They
also fail with Tw 20150406.
I ran "darktable -d all" and posted the debug data to:
http://wahoo.no-ip.org/~pat/drktbl.txt
and requested debug runs from the developers:
http://wahoo.no-ip.org/~pat/drktbl2.txthttp://wahoo.no-ip.org/~pat/drktbl3.txt
and a list of the changed packages current at the time I noticed darktable
failing me (for the first six days of April:
http://wahoo.no-ip.org/~pat/changes.txt
The darktable developers see no indication of a problem from darktable and
suggest the failure is related to OBS. Made trials with clean
environment, ie: new library and clean cache, with same result, gray
screen.
I have installed and can use the 1.6.3 issue from
http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/graphics/openSUSE_Tumbleweed
but the git build are much more feature mature and provide needed function
missing from 1.6.3.
I experience the same failures on three other boxes with Tumbleweed
20150405+ and darktable from "/home:/togamn:" and the success of darktable
1.6.3.
I tried direct mail to Togan but he appears mia ???
How to trouble-shoot, what to do? Any help appreciated.
tks,

rpm -q rsyslog-doc --requires
rsyslog = 8.4.2
Just because I want to read the rsyslog docs doesn't mean I also want to
install rsyslog. Or I might want to uninstall rsyslog but keep the docs
around.
Documentation shouldn't require the installation of the software itself.
postfix-doc doesn't either.
Problem exists in oS 13.2 and factory.
Could someone remove this requirement?
Thanks,
Volker

Hello,
I was told on the opensuse(a)opensuse.org list to post this here.
Debian GNU/Linux has a program called Mandos, which allows computers with encrypted root filesystem to boot unattended as long as they are in the same LAN segment as the mandos server. If someone steals the computer or copies the storage of an ecrypted VM then they'll still have to enter the password on boot.
It needs to install its client in the initrd of the encrypted machine, which is why it only works on Debian GNU/Linux for now.
I feel like it would be a great addition to openSUSE GNU/Linux, but it needs a lot of changes in the boot process in order to work.
More info about Mandos: https://wiki.recompile.se/wiki/Mandos

Hi,
The CPU on my EeePC laptop has been slowly overheating since yesterday
(24 April), shortly after performing an update. The last update I did
was on Tuesday (21 April), but I do not think the problem was present
after that.
The sensors seem to report flawed information, at least regarding the
fan speed: it is reported to be around 4000 rpm. The fan does spin (I
can hear it if I hold my ear really close to the chassis), but
definitely not at 4000 rpm (I remember from past issues that I
shouldn't need any effort to hear it at that speed). The reported
speed also sometimes drops to zero without any continuity.
I mention that the overheating is "slow", I mean that I can work
around 15 minutes before the computer shuts down, and that, idle, it
takes about 1 hour to reach critical temperature. If the fan was not
spinning at all, it would be 2 minutes.
Also, I could not get any form of manual control over the fan with
pwm1_enable set to 1.
Booting on a previous kernel did not help. If I boot on a different
distribution or on windows, the OS does not see the fan speed sensor,
and the computer overheats slowly all the same. But as I said, I
already had similar problems with this computer (the fan was not
spinning at all, then), and I remember that it showed across
distributions in the same way. If I remember, I concluded back then
that something had set a bios flag that prevented the bios from
handling the fan properly for other OSes.
I have uploaded some information about my hardware on
https://gist.github.com/ThibautVerron/27da7b4da3940f9894c0 .
Does anyone have any clue as to how to investigate (and hopefully fix)
the issue?
Thanks,
T. Verron

see /usr/share/doc/packages/perl-Crypt-SSLeay/Changes
0.70 2014-04-24 14:53:43 UTC
- RT #94974: I forgot that `return` just returns from the code block for
`catch`, not the subroutine so `filter_libs` was still trying to link
against various libraries even when Devel::CheckLib was not installed.
0.68 2014-04-24 14:13:07 UTC
- Previous release did not bump version number in Net::SSL even though there
was a minor change. Correct that oversight.
0.66 2014-04-24 14:00:42 UTC
- Various minor fixes to C code
- Various fixes to the distribution such as manifest files, additional
tests, bundled module etc
- Address RT bugs #94828 and #79212
0.65_14 2014-04-16 23:55:42 UTC
- REMINDER: make test WILL FAIL if your OpenSSL is vulnerable to Heartbleed.
- Add additional functions exposing information that can be obtained via
SSLeay_version.
0.65_13 2014-04-15 22:22:43 UTC
- Work in progress
- Add ability to query OpenSSL version, add test whether OpenSSL library
being used is vulnerable to the Heartbleed bug.
- Assorted fixes to Makefile.PL, most importantly to fix build problems with
Strawberry Perl.
0.65_08 2014-04-10 13:40:08 UTC
- Work in progress
- In Makefile.PL, use assert_lib to find the libraries against which we can
actually link rather than passing a big bowl of libs to WriteMakefile.
Bail out early if we can't link against any of the candidate libraries.
0.65_07 2014-04-10 12:38:06 UTC
- Work in progres
- Make sure t/02-live.t actually uses Net::SSL.
0.65_06 2014-04-10 10:35:14 UTC
- Work in progress
- Address RT bugs #88786, #88269, #78848, and #79477
- Makefile.PL now respects live-tests and no-live-tests, and allows library
and header locations to be specified via the command line arguments
libpath and incpath, respectively.
- These options can also be specified using the environment variables
CRYPT_SSLEAY_LIVE_TEST_WANTED
OPENSSL_LIB
OPENSSL_INC
- Also fixed a number of embarrasing logic errors and typos in Makefile.PL
which were introduced in previous 0.65_xx versions.
0.65_05 2014-04-04 12:38:21 UTC
- Work in progress
- Reorganize Makefile.PL to allow incpath and libpath command line
arguments. This attempts to address RT #88786, #88269, #79477, and #78848.
This was supposed to be the next step immediately after drastically
specifying Makefile.PL. But never got done.
- Also add encoded version number to openssl-version output.
0.65_04 2014-04-02 18:03:11 UTC
- Work in progress
- Address pull requests from GitHub and bug reports on RT. These address RT
issues #83764, #86425, #86819, #62133, #82715, #90803
- disable Crypt-SSLeay-0.58.patch as it works without and it's unclear what it
wants to achieve

- updated to 0.78
see /usr/share/doc/packages/perl-RPC-XML/ChangeLog
0.78 Thursday February 6, 2014, 08:00:00 PM -0800
* lib/RPC/XML.pm
A patch to loop detection in smart_encode from Dag-Erling
Smrgrav. Some other minor bits.
* lib/RPC/XML/Procedure.pm
RT #83108: Fixed a spelling error. Some other fixes, too.
* lib/RPC/XML.pm
RT #86187: Force key-ordering in struct as_string and
serialize. Was getting some intermittent bug reports of
failures in t/15_serialize.t that amounted to the keys in a
fault struct not being in consistent order.
* lib/RPC/XML.pm
* t/15_serialize.t
Undo the previous change and fix the test. The previous change
didn't feel right, so this rolls it back and fixes the problem
at the level of the test, instead.
* Makefile.PL
* lib/RPC/XML.pm
* lib/RPC/XML/Client.pm
* lib/RPC/XML/Server.pm
Replace direct evals for loading optional modules with
Module::Load. Required adding this to Makefile.PL because
Module::Load is not core in 5.8.8. Also did some slight doc
tweaking.
* lib/RPC/XML.pm
* lib/RPC/XML/Client.pm
Merge pull request #5 from alexrj/utf8-encode. Use
utf8::encode() instead of utf8::downgrade().
* lib/RPC/XML.pm
* lib/RPC/XML/Client.pm
* lib/RPC/XML/Server.pm
Finish the uft8 encode vs. downgrade change from the previous
commit. Changed in places that were overlooked, and adjusted
the version number in all three modules.
* lib/RPC/XML.pm
* lib/RPC/XML/Parser/XMLLibXML.pm
Merge pull request #6 from dctabuyz/master. Added 'no_blanks'
libxml option to skip blank XML::LibXML::Text nodes.
* lib/RPC/XML/Server.pm
Merge pull request #7 from kvar/master. Initialize $do_compress
in RPC::XML::Server between requests.
* lib/RPC/XML.pm
* lib/RPC/XML/Parser/XMLLibXML.pm
* lib/RPC/XML/Server.pm

COMPATIBILITY WARNING
inconsistency between simplify and XML::Simple for empty elements (including
elements with start and end tags but no contents)
the XML::Simple behaviour is to map them to an empty hash, not an
empty/undef scalar (depending of whether the element is a PCDATA or not)
as was the case in previous versions of the module.
This has the potential to break some existing code, but simplify should be
strictly the same as XML::Simple's XMLin

correct behavior for https_proxy,
e.g. don't send plain https:// requests to proxy, but instead establish
CONNECT tunnel and then send requests inside tunnel.
This change does together with a change in LWP::Protocol::https.
The change supports LWP::Protocol::https with the default
IO::Socket::SSL backend, but also with Net::SSL. Also:
- proxy authorization is supported (http://user:pass@host:port as proxy
URL, Net::SSL still needs special HTTPS_PROXY_* environemt variables,
as before)
- CONNECT request does not need to be the first request inside the
tunnel (not with Net::SSL)
- conn_cache is read and written inside request(), instead of writing in
request() and reading in _new_socket(). If a https tunnel is
established the cache_key no longer depends only on proxy host,port
but also on the tunnel endpoint
- CONNECT is a proxy request and must always use Proxy-Authorization,
not Authorization header

fix: auth-header of Digest auth did not conform to
RFC 2617 when WWW-Authenticate has 'qop' parameter.

There is no real man page for this config file. Its a text file that's
ostensibly self-documenting. Apparently it hasn't been updated in a very long
time. Most recent touch to a bug report with string "/windowmanager" in
summary was over 4 years ago (gdm ignores DEFAULT_WM...). Here's TW's list of
possibilities for the windowmanager to be used by default:
## Type: string(gnome,kde4,kde,lxde,xfce,twm,icewm)
As it apparently has been since the beginning of time, a minimal X
installation preserves this too:
DEFAULT_WM="twm"
I don't know if kde4 ever worked in it. Instead,
DEFAULT_WM="kde-plasma"
has been required for KDE4 to start by running simply 'startx' from a vtty.
It does not work for Plasma5. That it doesn't is why the problem reported in
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=929016 was discovered. What
does, or should, cause Plasma5 to be the default? Is there any doc that
explains? Are there other missing or obsolete types?

Hi,
I'd like to introduce a new package to openSUSE / Factory.
Riemann-c-client is a dependency of syslog-ng. But before doing so, a
tough question: where to put it? My primary choice would be
devel:libraries:c_c++, but server:monitoring might also suite...
riemann-c-client is a client written in C for the riemann monitoring
server (http://riemann.io/) It is available on github:
https://github.com/algernon/riemann-c-client released under LGPL v3+
It's a C library used by applications written in C (like syslog-ng) to
send data to a riemann monitoring server. There is also a bundled
command line client, which acts both as a reference implementation and
as a tool to test connection to the server.
Right now it's available in my syslog-ng repo:
https://build.opensuse.org/package/show/home:czanik:syslog-ng36/riemann-c-c…
Bye,
CzP
