[opensuse-factory] Two bugs in snapshot 20151209

I have run into two problem with 20151209. Firstly, it breaks "autofs" for NFS mounts. This is reported as bug 958410 (an already existing bug report). I happen to use NFS during updates, so this broke the update. I was able to manually mount to complete the update. Secondly, GPG appears to be broken. It is finding ambiguity where there is none. This prevents me from opening kdewallet. This is a slow machine. I encounter the problem with kmail and mainly with chromium. FF seams to be less hit by this. Hi, I have a ghost package problem with home:plater, I asked on the build service list but got no answer. I can't use rdelete or wipebinaries because of package home:plater/_meta which is broken and impossible to fix because it doesn't exist. Other ghost packages which I find via errors can be made to appear via osc meta pkg -e but _meta resists this process. Please help me fix this so as I can get on with some real work. [opensuse-factory] Tumbleweed - Review of the week 2015/50

Dear Tumbleweed users and hackers, No news is good news, right? The last week was no perfect one for openSUSE Tumbleweed: not a single snapshot could be published. Sadly, there were some issues with OBS 'refusing to build' new medias, which means snapshots could not be passed on to openQA or even be considered for release. By now, though, the issues have been resolved and OBS seems to happily build all the images again and will hopefully pass them on to openQA later today. At this moment, there is no prediction about how many surprises we will see there: we kept on merging more updates in order to not pile them up even longer. So, this week was not exciting for Tumbleweed - let's wait for the next one: it will change again. Either with a snapshot or with troubles found by openQA and a lot of effort to fix the issues. [opensuse-factory] Backlight doesn't turn off in Tumbleweed

Hi all, I recently switched to a different notebook, with an Intel Core i7 (integrated graphics disabled) and an Nvidia NVS 3100M. The backlight control with Nouveau works perfectly, the buttons to increase/decrease brightness are recognised and even auto-brightness works flawlessly. However, if my screen locks, it should turn off the screen (including the backlight) in like 5 minutes. What happens, though, is that the screen gets all kinds of stripes (horizontal and vertical) and sometimes even starts flickering. When I move my mouse, everything turns to normal again (apart from some flickering which disappears after some time). The strange thing is that when I turn off the screen in KDE display settings (to work for example on an external display) the backlight does turn off, however the stripes/flickering continues. It seems to be an error in Nouveau or something, but I haven't found any info on the Internet yet and I don't have any clue how to debug this problem. HI! I'm trying to upgrade the Kerberos packages to 1.14 which contains lots of major changes. Therefore I wonder whether the failing krb5-kvno-230379.patch [1] is still needed. In the patch file the following ticket is referenced: http://krbdev.mit.edu/rt/Ticket/Display.html?id=3349 The ticket was created back in 2006 and it mentions upgrade issues from W2K to W2K3. Since even W2K3 will be out-of-service pretty soon I'm inclined to simply drop this patch. Any thoughts on this? Ciao, Michael. Hi guys! I'm seeing random build failures with julia v0.4.2 package (x86_64). For example, it builds fine in my home repo and in science repo but failed when I submitted to factory: https://build.opensuse.org/package/live_build_log/home:Ronis_BR/julia/openS… (SUCCEEDED) https://build.opensuse.org/package/live_build_log/science/julia/openSUSE_Fa… (SUCCEEDED) https://build.opensuse.org/package/live_build_log/openSUSE:Factory:Staging:… (FAILED) The output gave me one important information: /bin/sh: line 1: 27871 Illegal instruction It turns out that the package we are trying to build needs SSSE3 instruction set (it is being built with MARCH=core2 for performance purposes). I am not 100% sure, but it seems that when the build server on openSUSE's server farm does not support this instruction set, then it will fail. I tried to add the following in _constraints: <constraints> <sandbox>kvm</sandbox> <hardware> <memory> <size unit="M">4000</size> </memory> <cpu> <flag>mmx</flag> <flag>sse</flag> <flag>sse2</flag> <flag>sse3</flag> <flag>ssse3</flag> </cpu> </hardware> </constraints> However, I get the error: constraints validation error: Extra element hardware in interleave when either sse3 or ssse3 is present. Thus, my question is: how can I tell OBS to build julia in a machine that supports SSSE3 instruction set? Hi I downloaded the weather widget and installed it on the desktop, configured it to use the correct city via www.yr.no and it worked fine. So i then installed it on the panel and it did not use the already configured setting, i had to reconfigure it. I found a seg fault in Leap:42.1's midnight commander and an update will be available that fixes it but the problem was caused in pcre, a very much used and built against library on our systems. The pcre version in Leap has missed out on numerous fixes and I'm proposing an update to pcre-8.38 that doesn't seg fault with the present mc. Is anyone brave enough to install Base:System/pcre on their system to test, it works on mine? [opensuse-factory] Using upstream artwork for Plasma 5

Hello everyone, with the huge help of Tomas, we've been taking a look at the current openSUSE bugs with regards to KDE software. One major pain point that emerged invovles artwork: themes changed quite a bit in the Plasma 4.x -> 5 transition and that caused all sort of issues (some subtle, some glaring). We (the KDE team) have been discussing this among ourselves and there are some problems ahead: 1. Neither of us is an artist; 2. Neither of us has the time / commitment to update the artwork; 3. The upstream artwork is moving very fast, so we'd have to play catch up. Therefore we will drop the custom artwork for Plasma 5 and use what upstream provides, with the next update. I encountered it also partially in 13.2 but it went worse now. Actually in 13.2 sometimes the first bug gives a description. Also leap follows this pattern. If there is more than one bug, you need to recharge the list of bugs with packagekit (I am speaking about the applet in KDE I think with xfce by your description it is exactly the same issue). Dear Tumbleweed users and hackers, We’re again one week and two snapshots further after last weeks review. Not too many things happened, I only spotted a couple minor updates here and there, like for example: * gdm 3.18.2 (Fixes lock screen bypass when holding escape key, CVE- 2015-7496) * wine 1.8 RC2 – only fixing bugs in the RC phase * VirtualBox 5.0.10 There are of course more updates, but nothing just jumped at me as being highly interesting this week. This must be because people have been preparing a lot for the openSUSE Asia Summit. You should always be on a lookout for local events near you – and make sure you join them. The stagings are currently all filled, building, failing, rebuilding, openQA’ing, and reporting success and failures, just as we’re used to it. * The cmake update to version 3.4.1 (from previous 3.3.2) is pending. Can’t really say yet if it will cause problems – but past updates shows we better be ready for it * systemd 228 (from currently 224) as being prepared * The kernel update, that will merge the XEN flavor into the default flavor. That is still going to be a short while, as there are other pieces in need of fixes (instllation-images-openSUSE) I’m sure we’ll try to get more snapshots to you during the next week (currently, it seems though as if openQA is not picking up new images to test – we’ll have to check on that). Hello, Recently I've set up another one database of the Linux hardware based on the SuSE hwinfo tool. The database is growing automatically based on the probes submitted by Linux users via the command line tool. So the database includes hwinfo output for about 3000 computers for now. The database is based on the concept of a "probe". Each probe includes hwinfo output, dmidecode, dmesg and other useful logs to discover computer devices and interfaces or debug some kinds of issues with the hardware. Helle, I'd like to use Ada programming language for some of my upcoming projects... I do use TW and there is gcc5-ada GNAT compiler based on gcc-5.2 which is fine, but many other things are missing like gprbuild, GPS IDE, GtkAda etc. which are present in other major distros like Ubuntu, Debian, Fedora, although, interestingly enough, FreeBSD is leading the squad here. Personally, I plan to write open-source app and due to the need to use 3rdp party C lib which is GPLv2+ licensed I can use AdaCore' GNAT-GPL bundle, but I wonder if there is some interest amongst openSUSE devs/users to enrich openSUSE's offering of packages to make it 1st class platform for Ada-related development? Running TW with xfce and just got popup that new updates are available. Apparently PackageKit is used (at least I see gpk-update-viewer running). Unfortunately the only information about every update that is displayed is "This update will add new features and expand functionality". Which is not really that useful. Are there technical possibilities to display something more useful (like changelog)? [opensuse-factory] Attempt to submit neovim to openSUSE:Factory

Hi guys! I'm trying to submit neovim to openSUSE:Factory. There were other users that created a package for it but AFAIK have never submitted to the official devel repos. The problem is that there were many packages needed to build neovim that are not in Factory yet. The list is: _ libunibilium; _ lua51-BitOp; _ lua51-LPeg; _ lua51-MessagePack; _ msgpack 1.3.0; _ python-click 6.2; _ vterm. The status right now is: * lua51-BitOp, lua51-LPeg, and lua51-MessagePack was already accepted in the devel repo devel:languages:lua and they are ready to be submitted to factory. * msgpack 1.3.0 was already accepted in devel:libraries:c_c++ and it is also ready to be submitted to factory. * python-click 6.2 was already accepted in devel:languages:python and it is also ready to be submitted to factory. * libunibilium, as per ismail advice, will be submitted to devel:libraries:c_c++. Thus, my only problem is with vterm. I'm not sure to which devel repo I should submit it. It is not "just" a lib, because it contains three executable files inside it. When I called this package libvterm, rpmlint complained about it. Once all these packages are accepted in Factory, I will submit neovim to editors devel repo. Hi, I've a fresh Leap42.1 install from the very first iso image and a few days ago Firefox started refusing to show any web pages, except build.opensuse.org ones. [opensuse-factory] Some questions about Tumbleweed

This question I have already asked but don't recall what the answer was so am therefore asking again (with an apology if you find it a repetition): will Tumbleweed ever find its place in the sun with its own name in GRUB MENU or will it be forever a number instead of a name (eg, 20151030)? And as an adjunct to this question: will discussions/questions re Tumbleweed forever be consigned to the FACTORY mail list? Next question. I have the latest Tumbleweed installed (or rather TW upgraded to the latest release as of yesterday). Now TW has been going for quite some time and is not "a new kid on the block" but the only repositories it has to its name showing in YaST are: * download.opensuse.org/update/tumbleweed * download.opensuse.org/tumbleweed/repo/oss * download.opensuse.org/tumbleweed/repo/non-oss and when you go and try and ADD repositories the only COMMUNITY repositories available are: * Main Repository (Sources) * Main Repository (DEBUG) On the other hand, openSUSE 13.2 (and earlier) have a host of Community repositories available such as Packman, libdvdcss, Games, et al -- but Tumbleweed has zilch (aka zero, nil, nothing). I make much use of VLC (from videolan.org) to watch digital television on my computer (my wife can watch whatever SHE likes on the big screen in the lounge :-) ) as well as watch DVD films. I also like to play some games included in Pysol. But neither vlc nor Pysol are available in Tumbleweed. The question therefore is: why is Tumbleweed so bereft of Community repositories when they are, and have been for years, available in versions of openSUSE? The blurb about Tumbleweed in the wiki (or whatever) extols Tumbleweed as the "bleeding edge" of openSUSE. But this would appear to be an overstatement when one cannot play all the games available or view DVDs or TV when the means to do so are available in the "plain Jane" versions of openSUSE. (And before you jump in Patrick with your comment I will preempt it by stating that that is not the point -- the repos should be THERE, showing in YaST, so that first time users of Tumbleweed can access them instead of having to jump on one leg at midnight while holding the innards of a cockerel in their left hand while trying to type a post to Factory asking about missing repositories with their right hand [reverse, of course, for left-handed people].) Ik ken 't. Hij gaat volledig aan de haal, en dat deels met jouw werk. Mijn grootste irritatie daarin is dat zijn volhardende amateurisme ( eufemisme ) dan als (deels) mijn werk gezien wordt. Een paar jaar geleden is-ie zodanig aan het pushen en trekken geweest, dat ik Gabor toen maar even een mail gestuurd heb om te waarschuwen. De man treedt alle ongeschreven wetten met voeten, en speelt mooi weer ( kan zelf nog steeds niks, dus weet eigenlijk niet eens wat-ie aanprijst ) met andermans werk. Je moest 's weten wat een mailconversaties ik nog in het archief heb, met verwijzingen naar echte plaatjes, nederlandstalige info, Nz. Nz. en dan komt er toch weer een PDF met uit stickers gegimpte logo's, 15 schrijfwijzen van "openSUSE", en totaal incorrecte informatie. Ik weet niet of de party een geschikt moment is, maar zin in oren wassen krijg ik er wel van. Nou heb ik ook geleerd in 15 jaar community, dat hulp aanbieden vaak de beste remedie is, maar dat is van meerdere kanten al wel geprobeerd. Maar 's kijken of we Frits niet kunnen overtuigen dat-ie zijn kracht moet aanwenden waar die ligt, en niet steeds opnieuw andermans wielen opnieuw moet gaan uitvinden, laat staan proberen te verbeteren. Hij weet ook donders goed dat-ie met gooien met "HCC" bij veel broeders en zusters (een illusie van) professionaliteit vertoont, ik heb niks met dat soort status gepronk. Krijg gelukkig geen vriendschapsverzoeken meer van hem... [opensuse-factory] How to revert the new default fonts setting (Adobe Code Pro and Roboto)?

Hi. As one of the weekly reviews said, "snapshot 20151123 changed fonts for openSUSE. The terminal font changed to Adobe Code Pro and Roboto was also added as the default font." I've just installed Tumbleweed and these fonts look quite bad from my point of view (very thick, I like fonts sharp), so I'd like to leave it as it was before the change. What are the files where the default fonts are set? And what were the previous values? Note that I have tried to correct the appearance by using YaST's fonts module and Plasma fonts settings without success. For Plasma I've explicitly set the font to one more appealing to me (instead of the generics sans serif and monospace), but other applications doesn't seems to take the change (I tried closing the session and even rebooting the computer). In any case, I'd like to know where are this settings done.
