[opensuse-factory] Missing dependences in MS4

Hi all, I have tried to install MS4 in virtualbox by using openSUSE-Factory-NET-Build0652-i586.iso. As installation target, I have chosen the minimal text only and everything went smooth except for the fact that after the first stage, the network is not working: the package ifplugd is not installed since it is not part of the default package selection, so the second stage of the installation fails on network config since it wants to install such package but the network can not be configured (unless it is configured statically). Hence also in the installed system the network does not work. Note that if I choose KDE, for instance, then ifplugd is selected automatically. Moreover I see errors from "/etc/sysconfig/network/scripts/functions" about the fact that the file /bin/mountpoint is missing: in oS 12.3 it is provided by sysvinit-tools while in oS-factory such package does not provide such file that is instead provided by util-linux but as /usr/bin/mountpoint Should I file bug reports? I'm pretty sure I'm doing this backwards: instead of introducing on the list then submitting a request, I've submitted the request and now I'm introducing it to the list. The request is at: https://build.opensuse.org/request/show/197934 Basically, I gave my five year old daughter a linux box I had installed OpenSUSE 12.3 on. Because there was no decent media player for it, I had to do workarounds in order for her to listen to her music and watch her videos. Last month, I took the codecademy Python course and taught myself enough PyQT to create this program. It is a audio and video player designed specifically for children. It allows them to navigate their audio and video directories through the use of pictures: album artwork and video thumbnails for their selections and iconed buttons instead of menu entries. This way, a 4 or 5 year old who cannot read has complete ability to search through their own media and select something to play. Doudoulinux is interested in including this in their next major release, but both me and my daughter use OpenSUSE. Hello, I cannot login as root after I did a new install of openSUSE-Factory-KDE-Live-x86_64-Build0667-Media.iso Did not see a place to enter/select user id. How can you login using this id, to do administrative tasks. [opensuse-factory] Reminder: Beta checkin this friday

Hi, I want to remind you that this friday is the checkin for the Beta (some call it Beta 1, but that somewhat implies that there is going to be another one, which is not in the plan :) All features should be done by then and submitted to openSUSE:Factory. Having it in SCM or the devel project does not help the Beta. Everyone without features to finish, please help getting the current number of build failures down - we're over 100 again ;( After the Beta I'm going to branch off openSUSE:13.1 and will only cherry-pick from factory. Currently python-gobject in the devel:languages:python and python3-gobject in devel:languages:python3 are separated into two packages. However, python-gobject is linked to the version on openSUSE:Factory, which still has python 2 and python 3 spec files in one package. Its devel project is GNOME:Factory, which also still has both spec files. This is leading to frequency breakage in the devel:languages:python version, since it links to a package that has two spec files while it only has one. If we are going to go with the separate packages we should to it in factory as well. It would be easy to provide a submit request for this. However, currently python3-gobject in openSUSE:Factory and GNOME:Factory are linked to their respective python-gobject packages, so doing the submission now would break python3-gobject. So if we are going to go with the separate python2 and python3 packages, can we do so for python-gobject as well? Why is it in experimental instead of main (as is for 12.3), or legacy? 12.3 has current 17.0.8 available, while "experimental" only has very much older 17.0.4. Recent FF versions keep losing features. "Always show the tab bar" has been purged in furtherance of dumbing Firefox down to Chrome/IE level. Disabling of JS has been obscured into devel tools somewhere. Proper calculation of DPI on http://fm.no-ip.com/Auth/dpi-screen-window.html has been broken at least partly at least since v21. [opensuse-factory] broken gfx driver loading?

I fresh installed an i915G system yesterday. X was using FBDEV instead of Intel, sluggardly 1152x864 instead of decent 1920x1440. After some time trying to figure out what was goind on I realized I had had a G84 card installed at installation time, since pulled. Before I realized installation included neither Intel nor ATI drivers, I noticed lsmod output included nouveau. Why? Since installing Intel driver (and upgrading kernel from rc7), nouveau is properly missing (and i915 included). -- "The wise are known for their understanding, and pleasant words are persuasive."
