Is init command no longer supposed to symlink to or call whatever immemorable 3X-15X command string is supposed to replace it? I just booted with 3 on cmdline, logged in root, then issued 'init 1'. I have just installed openSUSE 12.2 and see this problem is still not fixed. What does it take to fix this problem. It has been happening since 12.1 was released. I do not like having to keep an old system around solely so that I can use XDMCP. It is the menu that's broken and prevents selecting a remote host. It appears that on 12.2 tar defaults to include PAX extended header information (specifically the access time). I can't find any information on when or why this was introduced and if the default can be changed back without recompiling tar. Yes, I can remove these headers by adding options on the command line, but that would require to change a lot of scripts and there are quite a few of applications that don't really like such archives. As part of the Tumbleweed lifecycle, with the 12.2 release of openSUSE, the openSUSE:Tumbleweed repo is now empty so that you can start out with a "clean" 12.2 release. It will stay that way for a few weeks for things to settle down with 12.2, and then will start to add packages back to it (new kernel, KDE 4.9, etc.) as time permits. Hi, I have installed OpenSuse 12.2 KDE CD and after the instalation complete I could find the sax2-tools package was installed in my system. I think sax2 is not used as default configuration tool since 11.2. And as I could see sax2-tool also require icewm-lite with is a old (not sure if maintened windows manager).
