[opensuse-factory] kde3 potential gcc47 compiler code interpretation problem resulting in kwrite/kate crash

Ilya, Dominique, All, I have been troubleshooting a runtime issue in kde3 when built on gcc47 that does not get caught by the compiler, but produces a crash in kwrite at runtime when lines that wrap are encountered. This problem was not discovered until 4/25. It is being worked as http://bugs.pearsoncomputing.net/show_bug.cgi?id=979 There are multiple backtraces and strace outputs included with the bug report. The crash occurs when line length in a text file causes the line to wrap within the editor window. This can be reproduced by opening kwrite and: (1) pasting 1-2 words using the select buffer until the line wraps; or (2) by opening a text file with long lines and arrowing down until the long line is encountered. This is 100% reproducible on Archlinux and effects kwrite/kate/quanta+ and text preview within konqueror file manager (anything involving katepart) On Slackware, this is limited to kwrite. Darrell Anderson reports being able to use kate without issue, but experiences the crash in kwrite and in konqueror file preview. This may not effect openSuSE, but be aware of it and test for it in your builds based on gcc 4.7. We are currently troubleshooting, this issue and if you can either confirm it in openSuSE or rule it out, that would provide another data point. Currently we have worked backwards building code from 4/25, 4/10, 4/03 and 4/1 sources. The problem remains in all builds. We have binaries from the 3/29 build that work, but no confirmation of the gcc version used in the 3/29 build. I am presently building the 3/29 sources with gcc 4.7 and if the crash occurs, that will rule out a stray patch to the code causing the issue and will implicate something going on with the compiler. I'll let you know when I confirm the 3/29 build. This is a cross-post to both factory and opensuse-kde3. So check the reply address you intend to reply to. Thanks, and I hope this doesn't affect you. Hi, Couple of days ago I have asked the procedure for changedevelrequest for fbi package, which is now in its new home multimedia:photo. However, I have now slight problem with package building since libpcd-devel is not available in this project. libpcd resides in graphics and many photography related software are also in the graphics project developed. [opensuse-factory] PPC and ARM

Hi, can someone please point me to documentation how I can test builds against Factory for PPC and ARM? I've received patches in the past but I'll probably break them faster than they arrive with the fast mozilla release cycle because patches do not apply anymore. Without any chance to test them myself (and see the actual build errors) I cannot do much about it :-( I've added build targets to mozilla:Factory but they never leave the unresolvable state. While I cannot runtime test anyway it would probably help a lot to look after build errors if I could. I strongly prefer the second approach. Hello, There is a sr for syslog-ng to move it from / to /usr as part of the UsrMerge project. In theory it makes syslog-ng packaging a lot more simple. In practice, the latest syslog-ng is often recompiled on older distribution versions (think about threading, mongodb output, correlation, etc.), where UsrMerge is not supported . So simply accepting the sr does not seem to be an option, as I don't want to maintain separate spec files... Question: - should I ignore UsrMerge until <12.1 distros are EOL - rework syslog-ng.spec based on this sr to have UsrMerge for >12.1 but not for earlier releases? Hello, There is a new package, libumberlog, a library for logging: http://algernon.github.com/libumberlog/ As right now it is mostly used from /etc/ld.so.preload, also during boot, I put it to /lib. Now I got a submitrequest to move it to /usr. In my understanding it's safer to leave it in /lib, as apps could fail if /usr is not available for some reason. Should I still accept the sr? Hi, I have submitted a request #116205 to openSUSE:Factory:Contrib regarding fbi package which includes exiftran a requirement for the new rapid-photo-downloader package for which I have also submitted a request to multimedia:photo with #116210. Ideally it would be better if exiftran is available in multimedia:photo area. I know it's probably pretty low priority what with the fs crashing and other recent activities, but can someone either accept or reject the jbigkit SR so I'm not just stuck on hold? The SR for tiff to enable jbig is on-hold untill after jbig is in Factory. And if possible I'd like to see tiff supporting jbig in 12.2. Or if it's intentionally on-hold until after 12.2 release because it's too late in the release cycle for that sort of feature addition, then tell me that so I know better than to keep waiting and expecting.
