|Hello, I wanted to update syslog-ng in factory to syslog-ng 3.3 beta2 + patches to make sure, that 3.3 is included in Milestone 5. I ran into a strange problem. When I compile the project in its dedicated project at https://build.opensuse.org/project/show?project=home%3Aczanik%3Asyslog-ng33 it compiles without any problems and produces useful binaries. But when bco Base:System syslog-ng and copy the updated package sources there, I have a problem. Compiling goes fine, but post build checks fail, see https://build.opensuse.org/package/show?package=syslog-ng&project=home%3Acz… : ... running 06-check-installtest ... testing for pre/postinstall scripts that are not idempotent /.build_patchrpmcheck_scr: line 75: /etc/init.d/syslog: No such file or directory postinstall script of syslog-ng-3.3.0beta2-51.1.x86_64.rpm failed [ 232.739665] SysRq : Power Off 11.4 and earlier fail, as those don't have the required eventlog version (which is available in my other project), but I don't understand, why the build for factory fails. Is it built against a different set of packages? I mean, my syslog-ng33 repo against factory while the bco version against packages in Base:System? BTW: looking at syslog-ng in Base:System, it fails the same way: https://build.opensuse.org/package/live_build_log?arch=x86_64&package=syslo… Can I push the updated package to Base:System and to Factory, or it is not possible in this stage? [opensuse-factory] Introducing sleuthkit

All, I have just submitted sleuthkit to factory. As the name implies, it is a collection of command-line tools used by computer forensic investigators. Sleuthkit has a long history and is fairly stable at this point. My SR is: https://build.opensuse.org/request/show/79619 Anyone interested in sleuthkit may also be interested that log2timeline was recently added to the security repo. The latest version of log2timeline depends on file timestamps being generated vie sleuthkit and is why I pushed sleuthkit to the security repo. log2timeline is still rapidly improving, so leaving it only in the security repo seems appropriate for now. Hello, It looks like a large amount of these messages "nothing provides python-gobject2 >= 2.21.3 needed by <packagename>" listed at [1] [1] https://build.opensuse.org/project/monitor?blocked=0&building=0&dispatching… In the message python-gobject2 is common to alot of the unresolvable items, can it be fixed ?. I was unsure if it belonged to factory or packaging so I sent it to both. [opensuse-factory] systemd and rsyslog

Hello, I run factory in vmware for syslog-ng testing. As I don't use systemd and rsyslog, so I delete them. I'm quite happy with sysvinit, and even more happy with syslog-ng :) My problem is, that any time I use "zypper dup" on factory, these two packages get reinstalled: The following NEW packages are going to be installed: rsyslog 5.8.3-3.2 systemd 33-14.1 If there are already working init and syslog systems installed on the machine, why are these keep coming back? [opensuse-factory] Including SaX3 in factory

Hi All I believe SaX3 is good enough, to be pushed into factory. I would like to know if it can be included in factory as it will tested before 12.1 and I can include all the bugs reported as an update to 12.1 just as firefox does it. Also, what is the last date of factory submissions, September 1st 2011 just to make sure again. [opensuse-factory] Future of compiz

Hi everybody, Factory is nearing up to the 12.1 look and feel and I, as one of the Compiz maintainers, was wondering if it is in any way useful to keep compiz around for this release. The most 'prominent' DE using it was gnome, but with the move to GNOME 3 (actually 3.2 for the release), Compiz does not make sense (only one compositing manager can run at any time, so compiz and gnome-shell conflict). KDE4.x has most of the features of compiz anyway directly integrated (as far as I know). Is there anybody using compiz on other DEs? (lxde/xfce, even though that would be a bit contradicting their 'light' advertisement). If nobody cares for it, I might as well drop it from Factory; X11:Comiz will obviously stay around for as long as I find enough time to make it build with current infra.. In case anybody wants to keep it: That also means somebody needs to TEST it during Factory periods. Just collecting thoughts here. this showed up during a compile of some CAD software. I have seen this linking problem before. I also have a zypper download of openSuSE's fltk/fltk-devel and factory gcc. [opensuse-factory] How to make custom policy configuration?

Hi! It seems that the polkit policy in Factory is no longer compatible with HAL which is essential for normal use of KDE3. Is it possible to enable a custom policy set in KDE3 repository without forking the polkit-default-priv package? That is with current Factory policy a KDE3 user can enable say, automatic mounting of removable media with the following command: sudo polkit-auth --user $USER --grant org.freedesktop.hal.storage.mount-removable But this command is not suitable for autostart (because requires a root password) and also not suitable for install-time because it requires a username and cannot be used to enable the privilege for all users.
