[opensuse-factory] conflicting files and directories

Hi, I found some of my packages failing in Factory because of the new conflicting files check. While I think this is basically a "good" check I found that in my case it makes sense. ERROR: /usr/lib/xulrunner-9 is packaged in both mozilla-js and xulrunner, and the packages do not conflict I've thought about doing it differently for a moment but still I think this is the correct way of packaging in that case. Also I remember we have tons of packages installing the same directories because it just makes sense but this. Therefore the question how can I disable that check and if I cannot, I'd need a recommendation what to do instead. [opensuse-factory] Still openSUSE 12.1 - NetworkManager does it worst....

Howdy all, *Before* reading my mail, please note: openSUSE 11.4 ran perfect on my machine, after the upgrade to 12.1, networkmanager doesn't run at all.I can't connect to my router anymore (which worked yesterday, even with 12.1). The result is a completely angry user, who just wants his sane and working 11.4-like system back. Please excuse my offending mail, but I'm boiling totally. My problem: After the upgrade, NetworkManager doesn't ran anymore. I did some searching and fixed the problem. Now, today, I started my machine but NM can't connect anymore. It just says something like: Wait for authorization On 11.4 it used to be KWallet which asked my a password for NM. With 12.1 it's a KDE-su like one. Does anyone else has the problem? I'm writing from my notebook because my workstation isn't connected anymore. Hi all, I got a bug about icedtea-web is not installed by default https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=737105 I am sure that instead of relying on patterns, the problem can be solved very easily in icedtea-web package itself Supplements: packageand($BROWSER:java-openjdk) will push the package when browser and JRE is installed. However what is the $BROWSER? To my suprise we have 8(!) different browsers in Factory atm. But maintaing a list of several changing (security team might decide 8 more or less unmaintained browsers is too much) Supplements does not sound sexy for me, so I wrote a FATE#313084 Universal rpm symbol for browsers https://features.opensuse.org/313084 In short I propose add 1.) One common symbol for all browsers 'browser', 'browser-plugin', or 'browser(plugin)' 2.) Rendering engine specific one 'gecko' or 'browser(gecko)', 'webkit' and 'presto' Please share your opinion here or in the FATE. Thanks Michal Vyskocil

[opensuse-factory] New request "declined" handling in OBS

I want to inform you about a planned change regarding request declined handling. It was raised as blocking issue that the request creator may not see a rejection (request set to "declined" state by target). While we send out mails by default via hermes, it may get missed. Also the pull model is not really accessable here. So we decided to follow other systems like github, where you have to act on declined requests. This means: 1) We show request on the "my work" webui page and on "osc my rq". 2) To get rid of these requests on that page you have basically three options: * revoke: You accept that this was the wrong way basically * superseded: You submitted an newer improved version * reopen: You disagree and ask back to take the request as it is. However this means that suddenly older "declined" requests will pop up at your place. You can see how this looks alike on the stage instance: https://build.opensuse.org/stage/home/my_work The new webui also offers to revoke or to re-open the request again. The osc in openSUSE:Tools:Unstable is supporting this as well and also offers to "supersede" requests in declined state when you submit a request. We consider also to change all requests from "declined" to "revoked" during deployment, so only new requests will popup. [opensuse-factory] Tumbleweed Project is almost empty (only 26 packages being built)

Good Afternoon. I have been trying to do a distribution update for Tumbleweed and most of the packages seem to be missing. My system want's to downgrade about 100 packages including the kernel. I am not sure if this is something to do with my configuration or if there are currently only 26 packages being built for Tumbleweed (https://build.opensuse.org/project/packages?project=openSUSE%3ATumbleweed) Is there something wrong with the build/build service or am I looking in the wrong place? [opensuse-factory] VLC from KDE4 Factory repo vs Packman?

Just curious... does the VLC that we can install from the openSUSE Factory repo actually play anything? I was beating my head against the wall here today trying to figure out why VLC was unable to play anything on my openSUSE 12.1 install. Normally VLC is the be-all-play-all application on any OS. I tried everything I could think of until it hit me to check where it was installed from... and it was installed from the KDE4 playground Factory repo. I switched over to the VLC from Packman all all my multimedia started working again. This leads me to ask... since VLC in the Factory repo is so severely crippled that it appears to be completely unusable, why is anyone even bothering to put it in there? I understand (and hate) the whole argument around codecs etc... that's not what I am asking here... If the player cannot be used for the vast majority of the videos is it worth the time and effort of including it in Factory? Usage message and man page both refer to "modules", but provide no apparent way to discover what modules exist. How is one supposed to discover what this utility does and can do? The usual switches --help, --? -? -help, -module <emptystring>. The only things it does that are obvious to me are fonts and permissions, though not their module names. [opensuse-factory] changes to Factory w/o devel project

Hi, did I miss a note? Why are Factory packages changed w/o going through the devel project again? This is very annoying as my workflow is not to track Factory and do my modifications but Factory is the last step in my workflow where changes end up. And even worse I wouldn't know about the changes at all if I wouldn't monitor opensuse-commit@. So my next submit to *:Factory and later on to openSUSE:Factory would just revert the changes (if Factory maintainers wouldn't notice what they probably would). The Yast package manager does not report any dependency problem or conflict. [opensuse-factory] libgadu and kdenetwork

I have been trying to get kdenetwork to detect libgadu for gadu protocol support without success. libgadu is available, and it is in the buildrequires. Here is the cmake message: -- checking for module 'libgadu' -- found libgadu, version 1.11.0 -- Found LIBGADU: /usr/lib64/libgadu.so grep: /usr/local/include/libgadu.h: No such file or directory -- libgadu must be compiled with pthreads support Note that libgadu IS being built with pthreads support enabled. Also note that cmake appears to be searching /usr/local/include/. Include files are not installed there, they are installed in /usr/include/, and kdenetwork is told to search in /usr/include, it searches in /usr/include for every other package it needs, and libgadu.pc says to look in /usr/include. I looked at the cmakelists.txt files and couldn't find anything obviously wrong. Hello, I'm in relation with the author of EKD (http://ekd.tuxfamily.org/index.php/Main/AccueilEnglish) - we are both french and videographers. I can't find it on OBS is it somewhere? if not I can package it. I have no packager experience, but there is already a rpm available on the author web site and the program is python, so this should not be too difficult. this programm needs ffmpeg2theora that I don't find. I may be able to package it also. is there any where a home for this program?
