Hello I resumed automated install testing some weeks ago. bug 630009 was already fixed. an Amarok-2.3.1 segfault was probably fixed upstream http://www3.zq1.de/opensuse/video/openSUSE-NET-x86_64-Build0012a.ogv at 3:33 Build0711 had problems with X11 input (no keyboard or mouse) which was fixed in Build0712 before I got to report it. With Build0714 and 715 I observed a PolicyKit1-KDE segfault. http://www3.zq1.de/opensuse/video/openSUSE-KDE-LiveCD-x86_64-Build0714a.ogv at 2:50 and now with Build0715, NET-inst reproducibly fails early (using the Build0714 iso on the current repo still works) Choosing another ethernet device ("eth0 : Virtio Ethernet Card 0" instead of "Qumranet Virtio network device") in ncurses-mode, using the same inst-source and later (during system-analysis) confirming an extra popup about usb-storage gets the install working. yesterdays overall installability score: 8/8 todays overall installability score: 6.5/8 -- Bernhard M. [opensuse-factory] Python 2.7 coming to Factory

Fellow developers and users, just a heads-up: moments ago I have submitted a new Python version 2.7. This version contains many new and interesting features, and only a small chance of breaking existing code: no backwards-incompatible changes, and no big changes worth mentioning. For more details see [1]. There is one thing notable for people who write or maintain software that embeds Python: the new function PySys_SetArgvEx [2] does the job originally done by PySys_SetArgv, but closes a nasty security problem with the latter [3][4]. Most software should be fixed by now, but please review your packages anyway. have fun m. Hello, I just noticed that the variable TMPDIR=/tmp is set in my 11.3 install (and not by me). This can cause problems when untaring big archives, the /tmp directory may not be able to cope with multigigabytes (dvd or videos) files. [opensuse-factory] finalizing the roadmap

Hi, I put the current roadmap draft into the wiki - this kind of sets the milestones, but we still should discuss on the freezes. I think we now had 2 releases where we made good experience with having a month of deep freeze and I still think that we need to have the time before that (talking 6 months between now and deep freeze) split into "factory can be broken, but we try not to" and "factory should not be broken". And I would translate that back into this rule followed after a certain point (right now that's between M4 and M5): (version) updates of basic packages need to prove not to break anything. What's a basic package and how well it's proven is of course something that we will still have to look over, but I think this rule might be clearer than what we have so far. I think it's important for openSUSE to have a large time window where changes of more or less experimental nature are easy to get in - or we will dry out. [opensuse-factory] Dropping all Moblin Packages

Moin all, It has come to my notice that MeeGo development is now pretty much focused on the new 1.1 release. I have been working getting the 1.0 series to work on 11.3 and have been about 90% successful. Now I know people wanted me to replace Moblin with MeeGo in Factory/11.4, but unfortunately I don't feel it is worth pushing the 1.0 release. Reason being is that with 1.1 there is a pretty big API change going on and that almost all packages are at the very least re-named. I know that the proper procedure would be to submit delete requests for all packages, but I am unfortunately severely tied up with work (MeeGo has managed to land me in hot water with my employer). So basically I was wondering if there was another way of dropping the Moblin packages? If it just needs someone with Maintainer rights in the Moblin:UI repo I'm more than happy to share the love.
