[opensuse-factory] Compiling of kmp modules (11.1, kernel 2.6.27.25) fails in new flavor "ec2"

Other people http://forums.opensuse.org/network-internet/418824-new-kernel-2-6-27-25-mad… and me were not able to compile modules for newest openSUSE 11.1 kernel version 2.6.27.25-0.1.1. Compiling fails in new kernel flavor "ec2". Anyone know why kmix fails. It is the latest thing to fail with this sound issue :~> kmix <unknown program name>(15045)/: Communication problem with "kmix" , it probably crashed. Error message was: "org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply" : " "Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken." " Kmix used to work. I blame a recent zypper update which screwed up many sound things. [opensuse-factory] m5 & Intel GM965, what was the trick to get X to work?

All, I just zypper dup'ped a 11.1 laptop to the latest (m5). And now init 5 seems to be basically ignored. init 3 is working fine. I've got a Intel GM965 so I tried: https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=528397#c3 but that had no effect. I'm pretty sure someone here had posted a different solution. [opensuse-factory] kmixrc size in kde3

If I alter size in /home/lancelot/.kde/share/config/kmixrc or I remove kmixrc, it gets recreated when I start kmix, it's very large with the bottom disappearing off the screen. On startup =========== Position=420,0 Size=1082,1852 Changed to ========== Position=450,0 Size=421,230 I wonder if anyone knows where the size may be coming from. Hey Group; Why is that a "user" cannot use dsp or cdrom/DVDs right off the bat. It seems there is a effort to make an end user needed equipment not usable due to permissions. That also include other/additional so programs can access the device It seems to me that this issue would be a new user reason not to load linux. I hear lots of folks just say "Ubuntu works right out of the box". Yet openSuSE insists on root configured setting. On a very fresh openSuSE Milestone 5 (last night, no updates or zypper dup) as a user in KDE so far kmix and amarok fail. I bet k3b will complain about no CDrom/DVD also. Hi list, Just updated to latest Factory repos and still I notice the same error at login into Gnome desktop as per Milestone 1: Error activating XKB configuration.
