[opensuse-factory] Milestone 5
Hey Group; Why is that a "user" cannot use dsp or cdrom/DVDs right off the bat. It seems there is a effort to make an end user needed equipment not usable due to permissions. That also include other/additional so programs can access the device It seems to me that this issue would be a new user reason not to load linux. I hear lots of folks just say "Ubuntu works right out of the box". Yet openSuSE insists on root configured setting. On a very fresh openSuSE Milestone 5 (last night, no updates or zypper dup) as a user in KDE so far kmix and amarok fail. I bet k3b will complain about no CDrom/DVD also. Yep it does. -- 73 de Donn Washburn 307 Savoy Street Email:" n5xwb@comcast.net " Sugar Land, TX 77478 LL# 1.281.242.3256 Ham Callsign N5XWB HAMs : " n5xwb@arrl.net " VoIP via Gizmo: bmw_87kbike / via Skype: n5xwbg BMW MOA #: 4146 - Ambassador " http://counter.li.org " #279316 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

I burned a CD using k3b, but sound is a major problem here. I have one box where sound works and I can't see the difference between that and the other 2. In addition to the x86_64 boxes I have a x86 box with Milestone 5, but I haven't got around to checking sound on that one. Bug #525259 open for quite a while, since Milestone 1. It looks like a pulseaudio problem. Regards Sid. -- Sid Boyce ... I've played with YaST, disabling and enabling pulseaudio, sound still doesn't work. Regards Sid. -- Sid Boyce ... Well Sid; Here is the output from running kmix in a konsole. No BUG report error showed up. Besides most Bug Reports do not show any useful error information according to the software error. strace -o kmix.err kmix <unknown program name>(2601)/: Communication problem with "kmix" , it probably crashed. Error message was: "org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply" : " "Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken."
