Tried to rebuild madwifi source to get online, because kernelmodul ath5k
doesn't work with my card. Unfortunately I can't rebuild madwifi Package
because of missing kernel-syms on dvd and wrong kernel headers (dvd provides
2.6.24)

Hi, I'm experiencing a strange problem with yast2 qt software management. If I click the X on the title bar to close
after selecting a package for installation and then click cancel on the message box asking if I want to abandon all
changes, instead of returning to yast the window exits but the process y2base sw_single qt stays running and I have to
kill it before I can run zypper or yast again.
I first found this behavior in yast2-qt-pkg-2.16.37 from build service but after downgrading to factory the problem
persists. Has anybody else experienced this problem?
Regards
Dave P

There seem to be quite a few packages failing an integrity check,
although there seems to be nothing wrong with them. E.g. (from most
annoying bugs): avahi, beagle, cups, hal, ntp, openssh, PolicyKit,
postfix
But not aaa-base, dbus-1, fuse
There is nothing wrong with installing the packages with rpm -Uvh (and I
am NOT pleased that the packages are deleted immediately after
download - it's a waste of bandwidth and time).
Is this a transient problem or more systematic? Is there a workaround?

Hi ..
Well bit the bullet donwn loaded 11.0b1 and installed on a spare drive on the
laptop "Compaq V5030 64 bit amd ati m200 graphics "hate it but " ALI
sound " installe went well found and correctly set the display sound
network well almost it keeps finding the wrong driver for the network card
rtl 8139 , think thqt is a caseof blacklisting the wrong module so it only
loads the correct one .
Now as a lot of you will know from previous posts i dislike KDE4 but thought
i would give it another look well my opinion has not changed at all still
ages away from ready and not at all useble far too many issues so went back
to KDE3 (installed both 3 and 4 at the time of install ) and was forced to
accept the bulk of gnome (got Gno time for it at all rather have the old
OLVWM back) ran KDE3 did what i need to thought i would go back to KDE4 see
if i could get it to at least start behasving correctly but it would not even
start the screen just goes black with a mouse cursor on it but noting else
at all no errors in the X logs the only way out is got to a text consel
and init 3 init 5
back to normality this happens every time i try 4 now and i did not even try
messing cause it did not start any thing springs to mind out there or is 4
going to remain bin fodder ..

Hi!
In april 21st I installed the factory (beta1) via internet (http) and
I saw some things that I didn't "appreciate"...
* After I choose the Language (pt_BR which is almost full translated)
the installer told me that downloaded the language extension but the
only part which was translated was the right side of the installer
(the one with the steps...)
*I don't know why the installer installed a text-mode grub regard the
graphical one...(I test the automatic option which is nice!)
*After had the system up and running I realise that the some language
packages where installed correctly (firefox-translations, yast-pt_BR,
etc) but some ones not (bundle-lang-common and bundle-lang-kde where
installed only in "en)
I don't know if it is because I install via internet or if it is a bug....

Luiz Fernando Ranghetti

Here's a useful query to see the bugs that have been voted for, sorted

We could always use more votes to get better statistics, of course...

I'm installing 11.0 beta 1 as we speak and notice that the version of
Postgres presented is 8.2. Why are we not using the current version?
8.3 was released 02/04 and 8.3.1 on 03/17.

I agree with you with regards to that - that is why I raised the issue here in an attempt
to call attention to it :)

My wifi connection works fine on my Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 3945ABG card once I boot
and I select my named (and configured) WPA connection via KNetworkerManager.
Mind you it only works fine because I also did the following (but that's another problem !)
# initial lsmod results post Beta 1 install
jpearson@linux:~/.kde/share/config> lsmod | grep 3945
iwl3945 106332 0
firmware_class 25984 3 microcode,pcmcia,iwl3945
mac80211 190356 1 iwl3945

I downloaded compat-wireless-2.6.tar.bz2 from
http://linuxwireless.org/en/users/Download#DownloadlatestLinuxwirelessdrive…
Note 1 :compat-wireless-2.6.tar.bz2
This package is updated daily. It reflects the latest on wireless-testing.git
tree.
# 2
Did a make, checkinstall and smart install
Note 2 : Note the new line below on my lsmod output
which was absent on the lsmod results post Beta 1 install output
cfg80211 43784 2 iwl3945,mac80211
# Final lsmod results
jpearson@linux:~/.kde/share/config> lsmod | grep 3945

Hi, all
I'm a student working on an opensuse GSoC project which aims at
enabling ext4 file system as grub legacy boot patition for opensuse
and others. As I was told in the other mailing list, I downloaded the
latest src.rpm file from
http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/SL-OSS-factory/inst-source/suse/s…
After unrpming the source package, and following the patch order in
grub.spec, all patches are applied successfully (wildcard patches are
disabled in grub.spec, so I didn't apply them either).
BUT, there are some problems without wildcard patches.
The dir function declaration in stage2/shared.h is modified in
stage2-wildcard.diff and this modification is needed by other files in
stage2 directory. Without it, I got compiling errors saying
disk_io.c: In function 'print_completions':
disk_io.c:1481: error: too many arguments to function 'dir'
disk_io.c:1500: error: too many arguments to function 'dir'
After making the following changes, everything goes right.
--- stage2/shared.h.orig 2008-04-22 11:06:15.000000000 +0800
+++ stage2/shared.h 2008-04-22 11:14:48.000000000 +0800

/* List the contents of the directory that was opened with GRUB_OPEN,
printing all completions. */
-int dir (char *dirname);
+int dir (char *dirname, void (*handle)(char *));
int set_bootdev (int hdbias);
Hope there's someone taking care of this:-)
