[opensuse-factory] Non-oss on alpha2 DVD?

Hi, http://en.opensuse.org/Development_Version says: openSUSE 11.0 Alpha2 for i386, x86-64 and ppc is available as different media sets: * 1 DVD containing OSS and NonOSS software with support of the following languages: Chinese (Simpl. & Trad.), Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Finnish, French, German, Hungarian, Italian, Japanese, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Swedish There is no acroread, flashplayer or java-sun on the DVD. [opensuse-factory] Make SDL default ALSA device "hw" instead of "default"?

The SDL API doesn't allows the developer to select the audio device. It just does: #define DEFAULT_DEVICE "default" ... static const char *get_audio_device(int channels) { const char *device; device = SDL_getenv("AUDIODEV"); /* Is there a standard variable name? */ if ( device == NULL ) { if (channels == 6) device = "surround51"; else if (channels == 4) device = "surround40"; else device = DEFAULT_DEVICE; } return device; } I don't understand the motives (someone here does?), but setting AUDIODEV to "hw" works better than "default" in some cases (sometimes default works better?). All the info about the problem I found is http://mednafen.sourceforge.net/documentation/#using-cli , that says: "This is necessary because ALSA's "default" audio device has very poor buffering control capabilities." I just found again the problem with GuitarFun ( http://www.elotrolado.net/hilo_-JUEGO--Guitarfun-PC-2-0--homebrew-_948414 ). But I remember having the same problem in the past with other software. [opensuse-factory] new mysql bootscript to support the start of multiple database

Hi, [one more try, to get someone to try the new startup script for mysql. Or did someone try it out already?] anybody out there that want to test a new mysql rpm, that supports the start of multiple databases during system startup (and stop during shutdown)? The rpm and it's dependencies can be retrieved from this repository: http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/server:/database:/mysql51/openSUS… (a 10.3 version is available as well) The /etc/init.d/mysql script has 2 legs: - 1 with code that is currently in use - and a leg with the new code, that starts and stops multiple databases With a variable in /etc/sysconfig/mysql (or in the sysconfig editor Applications/Mysql) one can select which leg to use. To use the new code the variable MYSQLD_MULTI has to be set "yes". The code to start the multiple databases uses mysqld_multi that comes with the mysql code to start the databases. [opensuse-factory] Problem booting 11.0 Alpha 2 on iMAC (PPC)

Hi List, With installation now complete (!) I now have problems booting on this iMAC G3 (350 MHz PPC, 512M RAM). It runs fairly well when started via boot CD -> install -> "boot installed system", but iMAC "Open Firmware" (as I believe the BIOS equivalent is known?) won't see it, I just get the flashing "?" Network Installation used default options for everything (especially language / timezone etc. - that bug bites on PPC too) but I examined the suggestions and they all looked sensible. In a nutshell: /dev/hda1 8G Extended Extended partition /dev/hda5 32M MacHFS no mount, boot loader /dev/hda6 768M Linux Swap swap /dev/hda7 5G Linux (ext3) / /dev/hda8 ~2G Linux (ext3) /home Before I head off to Bugzilla, does anyone have any suggestions please? [opensuse-factory] Alpha 2 won't install on PPC (iMAC)

Doing a network install on iMAC G5 (PPC), after setting up network and FTP data, screen shows "Loading Installation System". Once loaded and booted, hundreds of lines of errors similar to: "/usr/lib/YaST2/startup/common/logging.sh: cut: command not found" and "/sbin/inst_setup: line 270: awk: command not found" Install aborts at this point. No opportunity to set up alternate logging (e.g. to network) so logs not available to attach. Same machine runs 10.3 OK-ish (at least the installation works!) The installation hangs on setting up /etc/hosts.
