Hello everyone, Feedback regarding openSUSE 11.1 RC 1: I would like to be able to right click on a tar.gz/tar.bz2/zip/etc file and unzip wherever it is located. I could do that on previous openSUSE releases. Today I have upgraded my openSUSE 11.1 RC 1 system to the latest kernel update and my default grub entry was changed to floppy. This shouldn't have happened. The KDE updater applet is unable to install updates. It always exits with "An error occurred." I have to use YaST or zypper to keep my system up- to-date. Speaking of YaST, if you launch YaST and switch to repositories, it takes a while to load the list of repositories, which btw, not all of them are shown since this movable separator is way too high. [opensuse-factory] status openSUSE 11.1

Hi, You may wonder why you haven't heared from me - but I'm stil alive. The status of 11.1 is pretty short: it's cursed. The GM was supposed to be done on thursday last week, but late on tuesday we found that the rpm headers in the 11.1 project were all wrong and so we rebuilt all packages, which took till friday due the build service playing hard to get. Then I released a GMC and we fixed 5 urgent problems to have a GM on monday - so I thought. Casual J. noticed in #457095 that the download DVD miss the "check installation medium" boot entry - which was really important to get back, so tuesday. This morning I noticed that the images for the installation contain files they really should not contain and so we had redo the DVDs one more time. But we decided to ship the retail DVD even with this bug to the fab. And this afternoon we noticed that a non-standard 11.0 update (well, one that is standard 11.0 + acroread installed) on x86_64 will leave the system unusable. This bug (bnc#457564 if you like reading horror storries) made us redo 110(!) packages + resend the DVDs to the fab. So we're here still without GM - but fortunately still 9 days to go for public download. [opensuse-factory] lost all "System" programs in gnome menu

After some zypper and a bad reboot, I lost all the programs from the "start" menu on the right in the "system" category including the logout and others. Any way to restore them easily? [opensuse-factory] all manpages broken?

Hi, is it again just me or all manpages missing dashes? I looked at "man setfacl" which was missing the dashes in front of all options. Now I looked at "man bash" and "man ls" and they are all missing the "-" in front of all options. anybody else seeing this? [opensuse-factory] HDTV - Mode Not Supported

Hello everyone, I have a fresh installation of 11.1 RC1 64-bit. The installation goes great, as does the loading screen after installation. Once it gets to the desktop, however, my display (Samsung 40" 1080p HDTV) goes blank and displays "mode not supported". I tried installing the ATI drivers (8.11) but this made no difference. Currently I'm using a little Samsung 15" LCD until the HDTV gets working. A note of interest however, the 15" LCD does not display the correct resolution either, it defaults to 800x600 (native is 1024x768). Any changes I make to the display (via 'Configure Desktop') are not saved. Hi . Just tried to install Opensuse 11.1RC1 on my laptop it keeps barfing when trying to use images to install if i disable images it installs fine the complaints i get are about LZM errors and unable to delete file **** Apart from that it seems ok so far apart from that darn KDE4 stuff Pete . -- SuSE Linux 10.3-Alpha3.
