Hi there, today we have rebuilt the LiveCDs for Beta2, which are currently too big, but should be usable at least as LiveDVDs ;) Please don't install from the LiveCD, as we already have a bugreport on "System unbootable after Live-CD installation" (bnc#432699). [opensuse-factory] Beta2 availability?

Hi, For me, only the delta isos are available from http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/11.1-Beta2/ The iso dir is empty. When trying to download the torrents (tried i386 and x86_64) it complains about "unregistered torrent". Assuming there is limited time between Beta and RC releases I'd prefer to release these versions on Mondays or during first half of the week. Otherwise there might not be enough Beta testers "active" during the first few days of the release period, meaning: bug reports (and later on bug fixes) might get delayed just for scheduling reasons. [opensuse-factory] Is Updating from 11.1 Beta1 to factory supported ?

When trying to update a Beta1 installation (from x86_64 DVD) to Factory by setting the repo to Factory ( http://ftp5.gwdg.de/pub/opensuse/factory/repo/oss/ ) an then running "zypper dup" i got : [...] The following packages are going to change architecture: perl-Net-DNS zypper yelp yast2-ycp-ui-bindings yast2-xml yast2-users yast2-transfer yast2-storage-lib yast2-storage yast2-sound yast2-slp yast2-qt-pkg yast2-qt yast2-profile-manager yast2-pkg-bindings yast2-perl-bindings yast2-nis-client yast2-ncurses-pkg yast2-ncurses yast2-libyui yast2-ldap yast2-hardware-detection yast2-gtk yast2-core yast2-control-center-gnome xsane xchat wv wireless-tools vinagre ufraw-gimp ufraw totem-plugin totem-pl-parser totem t1lib silc-toolkit sg3_utils scpm sax2-libsax-perl sax2-libsax sax2-gui sax2 satsolver-tools sane-frontends sane-backends rpm-python rpm rarian pyxml python-xml python-satsolver python-qt4 [...] The problem here is that the arch of rpm is going to be changed from x86_64 to i586. This will cause a broken update, because after installing the new rpm package, zypper can't install remaining x86_64.rpms any more. Hi everyone, it's a short week in Germany (public holiday tomorrow), and we are still working on creating a first installable build of openSUSE 11.1 Beta2. Currently, we are looking into a cyclic dependency between some packages. [opensuse-factory] Discussion about Java versions in 11.1

It's my understanding that 11.1 is planned to ship with openjdk 1.6 installed by default and with (only) Sun Java 1.6 available via non-oss repo. I'd like to discuss this, as it causes some major problems - at least for Danish users. 1) With Danske Bank - the largest Danish bank, home banking only works properly with Sun Java 1.5. With Sun Java 1.6 some core functionality doesn't work and with openjdk 1.6 you can't even login at all. 2) Another home bank system, common to many smaller Danish banks, won't work with Sun Java 1.6 on x86_64 systems (even with 32-bit firefox+32-bit java, even though it does work on full 32-bit systems with Sun Java 1.6). https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=288750 In summary, 11.1 will be unusable for Danske Bank customers and most x86_64 users without Sun Java 1.5 available - making it very difficult to recommend to anyone. I'm certain these problems of critical java applets, that only work (properly) with Sun Java 1.5, exist for very many users in very many countries. I suggest to include Sun Java 1.5 in the non-oss repo for 11.1. And to make this repo available for testing before release. I also encourage anyone who's dependant on Java applets to test this stuff ASAP. [opensuse-factory] Has anyone booted from a fresh 11.1b2 installation?

Hi, I just tried to reboot my fresh upgrade with grub-0.97-151.3 and I got the grub shell this time instead of os not found but no boot. I copied old backed up grub directory into /boot and used system repair to point grub at the new kernel and now it works.
