[opensuse-factory] no luck with luks

Just tried to replay an example from the net with luks under 10.2, without success. According to the aricle "Datan verschlussen mit dm-crypt fur Linux" from 11 december 2006 (rather up-to-date, I thought) i should do: dd if=/dev/zero of=crypt.img bs=1M count=100 shred -n 1 crypt.img losetup /dev/loop0 crypt.img cryptsetup luksFormat -c aes-cbc-essiv:sh256 -s 256 -y /dev/loop0 According to the man-page of cryptsetup that should be ok. cryptset up however fails with: WARNING! ======== This will overwrite data on /dev/loop0 irrevocably. Are you sure? (Type uppercase yes): YES Enter LUKS passphrase: Verify passphrase: Failed to setup dm-crypt key mapping. Check kernel for support for the aes-cbc-essiv:sh256 cipher spec and verify that /dev/loop0 contains at least 258 sectors. Failed to write to key storage. Well, crypt.img is large enough (100MB) in this example. All available crypto parts are build as modules. Hi, Python IDLE is not found on the 32 bit openSUSE10.2GM DVD. Is this due to the change to "patterns" or a question of space on the DVD? In any event could it be included in openSUSE 10.3? I've been browsing through the roadmaps / release notes of SLES-10 And i wonder if/when xen-3.0.3 will be released for sles 10 On the DVD contains XEN-3.0.2, (just like Boxed 10.1) Latest SuSE release uses XEN-3.0.3 which contain a number of important patches (full system freezes) a) Will it be in SP1 (many months to go) b) Can i upgrade (this part of sles) manually? [opensuse-factory] SCPM on update from 10.1

Does anyone have any experience yet with how well 10.2 updates a 10.1 system that makes heavy use of SCPM? I have 4 complicated profiles that cover everything from wpa_supplicant.conf to proxies, ldap.conf, etc. I've done all my 10.2 testing on a spare drive, so I haven't yet done an update on my work laptop. [opensuse-factory] jboss4 package is missing in the opensuse10.2 repository

hello all , The jboss4-ejb3 package is missing the jboss4 rpm (includes the jboss-common depandancy). I downloaded the src rpm , build it and it produced following rpms : Wrote: /usr/src/packages/SRPMS/jboss4-4.0.4.GA-19.src.rpm Wrote: /usr/src/packages/RPMS/noarch/jboss4-4.0.4.GA-19.noarch.rpm Wrote: /usr/src/packages/RPMS/noarch/jboss4-debuginfo-4.0.4.GA-19.noarch.rpm Wrote: /usr/src/packages/RPMS/noarch/jboss4-ejb-4.0.4.GA-19.noarch.rpm Wrote: /usr/src/packages/RPMS/noarch/jboss4-ejb3-4.0.4.GA-19.noarch.rpm the jboss4 rpm is missing from the online repository and factory. [opensuse-factory] D-Link DWL 520+ support

In 10.0 there's an update available on the update servers, a script that installs the acx100 firmware for Texas Instruments chipset used in DWL520+. This works fine, the card works without any problems. If I update to 10.2 the card does not work anymore. This script is no more available. If I make a fresh install of 10.2 the card is not even found. Is there a workaround I could try to a) keep my existing card in update (otherwise the update works fine) b) get the firmware to work when I copy it to the same place in a fresh install? Does the firmware (or kernel or something) need some "installing" or is it just to copy the firmware? [opensuse-factory] compiz + xcb problem

Hello I wanted to try the latest xgl/compiz stuff so I added a two repos from repos.opensuse.org; X11:/XGL and xorg72. That got me Xorg 7.2 RC3, mesa 6.5.2, compiz 0.3.4 and some other stuff. The new xorg is built with xcb instead of standard xlib which causes a problem with compiz. Now it refuses to start with this error: simon@Isidor:~> DISPLAY=":1" compiz compiz: xcb_xlib.c:50: xcb_xlib_unlock: Assertion `c->xlib.lock' failed. Avbruten (SIGABRT) Is this a known problem? Any ideas? What to do with the bad package mngr reviews [1,2]. Should there be bug reports for it, or is it already handled by the opensuse devs? Updates are slow at times, particularly during installation, and it seems to me that the repositories are not as reliable as they should be.
