[opensuse-factory] Feedback from download clients to openSUSE servers.

Is there any plans to add feedback from installation program, YaST, YOU etc, to download.opensuse.org about used mirror properties; speed, file status and anything else that can be used to evaluate where to redirect users. The present problem is that people land on not so fast, or mirror with bad files, and the only feedback is trough mail lists or newsgroups. This is not easy to troubleshoot, as status can change until someone reads message and perform test. [opensuse-factory] Kudos to developers for Tablet PC features!

I've finally had some time to install 10.2 on my Tablet PC, and I'm impressed! I knew that there would be some improvements due to Xorg 7.2, but there are a lot of little things that make using it on a tablet much easier, so kudos to the development team! Here are a few examples of things that I really appreciate: -- xvkbd when the password dialog is open on the KDE screensaver (I would really like to know how this was done--does anyone have an idea how I can find out, short of looking through all the source? Is it a KDE enhancement or a SUSE specific enhancement?) Next would be to get this working in GNOME... -- xvkbd automatically open on the login screen -- xournal installed by default (very nice Journal replacement that includes PDF annotation capability!) -- suspend-to-ram and suspend-to-disk work great! -- on-the-fly display rotation (although I can't suspend the machine in portrait mode without having the digitizer settings messed up on resume). BTW, I have an HP TC4200 Tablet PC (Centrino chipset, etc). So, again, OpenSUSE is tops among all the recent distros (Fedora Core 6, Ubuntu 6.10) that I've tried in terms of Tablet PC support. [opensuse-factory] vim/gvim session and KDE

Hi, I am not sure whether this is the right mailing list for this issue. I looked through the list of mailing lists on opensuse.org and felt like this one might fit. I am using vim/gvim for several years in connection with suse linux running kde. One issue that always annoyed me was that when I have gvim open with some files loaded and I log out from kde and log in again, gvim will come up with an empty session. Now I know there is a way to do this by hand, saving the current session in gvim with :mksession <sessionname> and then later restore that session with :source <sessionname>. However, I know from a friend who uses mandrake, that there the session restores automatically under kde. On and off I was searching the web for this issue and ran now across some documentation that talked about that: http://vimdoc.sourceforge.net/htmldoc/gui_x11.html#GNOME There it says that if gvim is compiled as gnome gui, it works together with the gnome session manager and also should work together with the kde session manager. I looked for information on my 10.1 gvim installation and it says: :version VIM - Vi IMproved 6.4 (2005 Oct 15, compiled May 2 2006 09:59:09) Included patches: 1-6 Compiled by abuild@blacher Big version with GTK2 GUI. [...] So it looks like that gvim is compiled for GTK2 and according to the documentation then does not support the kde session manager? I am no expert here and maybe there are other ways to get it going. I was just wondering whether anyone know whether that would be a solution to add session support to gvim and whether that could be an option to compile gvim that way in future releases? [opensuse-factory] Heads up for 2.6.19 - Gigabit ethernet problems on 10.2

With the absence of similar problems on the kernel mailing list, I'm thinking it may possibly a 10.2 bug. The x86 Athlon box uses a 8139C ethernet card, so I haven't checked if the problem is solely with x86_64. I first saw the problem on the 64x2 box after upgrading to 2.6.19. The network appeared OK with ifconfig and route -n, but I had no network access. Pinging any other box, the box was responding, but no response was received. I checked cables and the switch which were OK, so I figured I had a faulty receiver on the on-board ethernet. I plugged in a PCI eepro100, reconfigured the network and it's been fine ever since. Today I upgraded to 2.6.20-rc1 on the x86_64 laptop and that also experienced the same problem - different cards in both boxes. [opensuse-factory] updates to 10.2

The updater on the kicker says there 11 updates available to download. YaST online update claims there are none. How do I get the right hand and the left hand synchronized here? Where are the online updates on the mirrors? YaST sources seems to be missing an updates source. I don't seem to be able to find any update directories on any of my usual mirrors. Started to track factory again. And I have a bit of a problem. Not sure if it's a "not synched yet" problem or a real problem. xorg-x11-libs-7.2-19 provided libxcb.so.1 and the new version xorg-x11-libs-7.2-23 seems like it doesn't provide this. Is this that we awaiting xorg-x11-libcb or something like that? Or is this a bug that I should report?
