Hello all
I'll apologize up front for casting such a large email net.
I am a long time suse user ... like since the late 1990's. SuSE and/or
openSUSE has been the os on my "work" computer since since 2000 or 2001,
when it replaced Solaris (aka Slowaris on x86, though I never found it to
be slow).
About this time last year I replaced Leap with Debian 12 because I
mistakenly thought Leap was going away. Debian is a great OS, but I really
missed Leap. Anyway, the hiatus has motivated me to contribute.
I am especially interested in gnome and Leap 16; I know it's a bit early
yet and I still don't understand what alp is :).
Although I could not write a C program any more complicated than "hello
word" to save my life, I have surprised myself numerous times over the
years successfully hacking broken code into working. I should also mention
that I worked as a build and release engineer for about a decade. In that
role I became fairly adept with perl, bash, etc.
If there is a list of packages in search of maintainers, please point the
way.
I'm also willing to write documentation.
Cheers,
ox (aka Charles Wight)

Hi,
due to the recent Intel security fixes that need the firmware updates,
we'd need to update the kernel drivers for Leap 15.x, and I decided to
bump major WiFi driver code to the state of 6.9.x kernel (at least for
Leap 15.6).
So far, Intel, Atheros and Realtek drivers have been backported,
together with the update to the latest linux-firmware tree. (Mediatek
is still work in progress).
Now I'm looking for volunteers to test those updates before merging to
the official tree.
The test kernels and firmware packages are found in OBS
home:tiwai:kernel:sle15-sp6-wifi repo:
http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/tiwai:/kernel:/sle15-sp6-wi…
If you run a Leap 15.6 system and have those WiFi devices of the
vendors above, it'd be appreciated if you can test those packages.
Especially testing an Intel AX210 or AX220 would be helpful.
Note that the packages above are unofficial builds, hence you'd better
to turn off Secure Boot for testing.
Thanks!
Takashi

While investing the benign warning lines in the systemd audit.service
log at the end of this post,
I noticed that the audit package is stuck at version 3.1.1 (released Apr
27, 2023) while it is at 3.1.4 (released Apr 10, 2024)
Any reason this has not been updated for 1 year ?
I briefly tried to build v3.1.4 locally on my system and it did just
fine without modification.
Although there is a multibuild version (audit-secondary) that includes
many patches, which would probably not build without
changes, but I'm not sure what this is used for and not super familiar
with multibuild as well.
There is even a 4.x version of audit now, but it probably entails
breaking changes requiring to rework the .spec file.

Hi there,
Currently, running 20240709, but the problem is present in 20240705 and probability before. The reason is I need to run this VM once a month, so how knows when this issue was introduced.
Anyway, it is a old setup, running fine for months.
I usually run as root: "virsh net-start default ; virsh start win11"
The computer immediately reboot (as if the hardware reset button was pressed, not as when one runs reboot cmd) when I run "virsh start win11".
The journalctl section can be found at https://paste.fo/86b77fe83d70
The journal log was get by "journalctl --boot=-1" in the next boot, as the current section was crashed.
