Hi, This month I did plenty patches again, including one for the python interpreter's gzip lib itself https://github.com/python/cpython/pull/125261 to make it deterministic by default so we don't have to patch an infinite number of places. Also worth noting that the timebombs file got several updates as I re-tested all entries from ring1. I did several more patches to ring1 packages this month so that it is as bit-reproducible as it can be. QSVEnc package missing on Slowroll

python devs are planning to stop signing with gpg and switching to sigstore

Python developers started to discuss PEP-761 [1], which is about stop signing Python release tarballs with GPG and switching to sigstore. The discussion on discuss.python.org [2] grew to rather large one, including Fedora and openSUSE maintainers strong opposition to using Python-based sigstore and prefering compiled version [3] and requiring offline verification [4] (also supported by the Gentoo maintainer [4]). Hopefully there is also alternative Go client [5]. Similar discussion started on Debian Python list [6]. The thing which runs through my mind is whether we as whole openSUSE don’t want to switch to sigstore for security of our packages as well. What do you think? Recurring question (or should I say complaint?) on openSUSE forum is "why cannot I run GUI program as root when I can do it on every other distribution". Well ... Upstream sudo keeps $DISPLAY and $XAUTHORITY by default which is enough for running GUI programs as root. Ubuntu (and I assume Debian) do not modify default. Fedora overrides defaults but explicitly allows DISPLAY and XAUTHORITY. This leaves (open)SUSE that overrides defaults but does not add DISPLAY and/or XAUTHORITY. Is there some reason for this? Both for overriding defaults and for not allowing GUI? If keeping locale is desired, why not augment instead of replace? env_keep+="LANG LC_ADDRESS LC_CTYPE ..."
