drbd maintenance

Hi Guys, looks like Nick Wang (drbd maintainer) isn't active anymore. Do we have a plan, how to maintain the drbd stuff, specifically the kernel module. Before I wrote this, I looked into it of course, but failed (wouldn't write this mail otherwise..). This coccinelle stuff scares me to death. Needless to say, drbd-kmod doesn't build anymore since the release of kernel 5.18. Best, Pete -- Life without chameleons is possible, but pointless.

Tumbleweed - Review of the week 2022/25

Dear Tumbleweed users and hackers, During this week, we sweat some blood. Not only was it really hot here, but we also had a gap in the snapshots delivered. Turned out that the update to SELinux 3.4 worked in most cases – but not so well with containers. We stopped rolling for a few days to figure out the fixes for that one issue before merging other, large changes. Nevertheless, we still delivered 6 snapshots this week (0616,0617, 0618, 0619, 0622, and 0623). The major changes delivered in the last week include: * Linux kernel 5.18.4 * Mozilla Firefox 101.0.1 * KDE Frameworks 5.95.0 * KDE Plasma 5.25.1 * Gimp 2.10.32 * Inkscape 1.2 * LibreOffice 7.3.4RC2 * NetworkManager 1.38.2 * krb5 1.20 * Samba 4.16.2 * SELinux 3.4 * Redis 7.0.2 * Mesa 22.1.2 * Sphinx 5 Ok, looking at that list, it seems to be no wonder it got heated, when combined with the SELinux issues. But it worked out pretty well in the end. The staging projects are currently not overflowing, but a few things are still in the queue: * systemd 251.2 * Linux kernel 5.18.6 * rpmlint: some work to detect more of the common errors. This will result in a few packages failing to build, but detecting those errors is worth it. Regarding build failures: in openSUSE:Factory, we currently have 192 build errors[0] reported. Dear Package maintainers and hackers. Below package(s) in openSUSE:Factory have had problems for at least 4 weeks. We tried to send out notifications to the configured bugowner/maintainers of the package(s), but so far no fix has been submitted. This probably means that the maintainer/bugowner did not yet find the time to look into the matter and he/she would certainly appreciate help to get this sorted. - baresip: Uninstallable: nothing provides libre.so.1 needed by baresip-1.1.0.i586 Unless somebody is stepping up and submitting fixes, the listed package(s) are going to be removed from openSUSE:Factory. I was attempting to update to the new 20220622 build that was just published. I use tumbleweed-cli to control which build I switch to. I have a direct internet connection ( No proxy ) so it appears that there is a problem with the cache servers. Going to an older build like 20220606 which is what I am currently running has the same issues so that eliminates that 20220622 had not finished copying yet. Anybody else seeing this?

We have all required channels, but the openSUSE-release RPM unconditionally introduces repositories with download.opensuse.org URLs, two of them activated... hence stage 2 of the autoyast install reports errors on repository refresh, which we cannot disable via autoyast settings. Jiri suggested I get in touch with you. Current work-around is to "sed"- disable the repos in a chroot-script, but I'd rather see a solution (maybe in terms of a pattern all packages can follow), i.e. the post- install script of openSUSE-release detecting autoyast and then deactivating any repository it introduces (or not even add the repos at all, without breaking "rpm -V"). Jiri offered to help with his views on this (just mentioning it here...). Perhaps a topic for Leap 15.4 QU1? (from Jens - the one who reported this): If there's a "proper" way to detect that installation is via autoyast: In postinstall, change the "enabled=1" to "enabled=0" for all added repos. They're added as config files, so they'll be reported as "modifed", but I'd prefer this over removing the files alltogether in post-install (rpm -V then would report them as *missing*). OTOH, conditionally *creating* these files in post-install might be an option, but that would change the behaviour: Currently, an "rpm -qf" would report ownership for these files, while dynamically created files will be owner-less (the latter is the same as with the other repositories created during installation, so it would be ok with me. But, instead of testing Linux as a black box, rtla leverages kernel tracing capabilities to provide precise information about the properties and root causes of unexpected results.
