Pulseaudio release candidate (with bluetooth fixes), maybe worth for Tumbleweed?

Hello, I want to advertise PulseAudio 14.99.1 (aka "15.0 RC1"). See https://www.mail-archive.com/pulseaudio-discuss@lists.freedesktop.org/msg21… for the release announcement. Maybe this is also interesting to some fellow openSUSErs? Especially the much needed Bluetooth improvements finally made 2 of my headsets usable very good on Linux! It would probably also get rid of the huge stack of patches that are currently on 14.2 in openSUSE. Alternative suggestions usually include installing PipeWire, which Fedora has set as default already. I asked Takashi if it might be nice to have included in Tumbleweed, but in general there is a bit of reluctance (understandably) to include non-final releases. Note that an update would also require an updated pavucontrol, to enable Codec selection. In any case I have prepared the Pulseaudio in my home dir on OBS, so if anyone wants to try it you can get it from https://build.opensuse.org/project/show/home:ailin_nemui:test_pulseaudio (zypper dup --from home_ailin_nemui_test_pulseaudio) I'm sure the Pulseaudio team will also appreciate feedback on the RC. Dear Package maintainers and hackers. Below package(s) in openSUSE:Factory have been failing to build for at least 4 weeks. We tried to send out notifications to the configured bugowner/maintainers of the package(s), but so far no fix has been submitted. This probably means that the maintainer/bugowner did not yet find the time to look into the matter and he/she would certainly appreciate help to get this sorted. - pyspacewar Unless somebody is stepping up and submitting fixes, the listed package(s) are going to be removed from openSUSE:Factory. No output in 15.3/Factory Xfce on QEMU with virgl

https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1186365 Now I also see it after update from Leap 15.1 to Leap 15.3 in the same VM. After reboot screen remains black, no output. So this is not limited to Live images.

Think then of Usenet instead. A client connects to a server that has a database of "all" the messages, but the messages are propagated to and from many other servers. Tumbleweed - Review of the week 2021/21

Dear Tumbleweed users and hackers, During this week, we have finalized the UsrMerge project in openSUSE:Factory. Future snapshots will have /bin as a symlink to /usr/bin, and /lib(64) as symlink to /usr/lib(64). This is also the reason why the last snapshot tested and published was 0424. After that, I was keeping OBS busy with a full bootstrap and rebuild of Tumbleweed. But let’s first focus on the things that have been delivered during the last week, namely the 4 snapshots 0520, 0521, 0522, and 0524. Those snapshots contained: * Mozilla Thunderbird 78.10.2 * NetworkManager-applet 1.22.0 (last week I wrongly announced an upgrade of NetworkManager, but in fact it was NetworkManager-applet) * Linux kernel 5.12.4 * Poppler 21.05.0 * sssd 2.5.0: note, a few deprecated command-line arguments have been removed for good * zstd 1.5.0 * Mesa 21.1.1 The next snapshot to be published, possibly 0525 in case openQA agrees, will be built entirely using gcc11 and will have UsrMerge enabled. You can find some information about this topic at https://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Usr_merge Besides that, the snapshots in planning, beyond that point, are planned to bring: * python3x packages will no longer provide python symbol. This caused for some confusion in the past when people expected ‘python’ to be the legacy python2, but python3x provided it as well. * Linux kernel 5.12.6 * systemd-experimental should finally land in the repositories * KDE Plasma 5.22.0: for now we still have 5.22 Beta in staging, release is planned for week 23 Cheers, Dominique

Packaging with MPI support

Hello, I have package https://build.opensuse.org/package/show/home:vojtaeus/PhyML-mpi containing BuildRequires: autoconf BuildRequires: automake BuildRequires: gcc BuildRequires: openmpi-macros-devel ... %build %{setup_openmpi} ./autogen.sh %configure --enable-mpi %make_build ... %check %{setup_openmpi} When I install it (up-to-date TW), it pulls openmpi3, openmpi3-config, openmpi3-libs and few other libs, but when I run it, I get error $ phyml-mpi phyml-mpi: error while loading shared libraries: libmpi.so.40: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory Interestingly, manual installation of openmpi4-libs and running "mpi-selector --set openmpi4" doesn't help. Cross-compiling Rust on openSUSE

Hi! Has anyone successfully cross-compiled the Rust compiler on openSUSE? I'm currently trying to bisect a 32-bit PowerPC bug [1] in the Rust compiler and I'm using an openSUSE system for cross-compiling for powerpc-unknown-linux-gnu for the first time for this purpose now. I'm normally using Debian in that case where cross-compiling just works thanks to Multi-Arch. But it seems more tricky in openSUSE. 15.3 issue

I have been trying to build something with Leap 15.3. During this process I have been getting the following error for the past couple days. Is there something wrong in the repository? It is always this specific RPM out of the hundreds used that fails. (I'm not sure this is a factory or some other list's interest. Sorry if I have posted to the wrong place. If so, where is a better pace to post this kind of question?)
