Hi,
https://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1165366 correctly notes that
dracut breaks with the concept of layering (it does not accept symlinks)
as seen in Factory. I will create a patch, but before I have some questions:
1. What is a reliable way to know that a system uses a layered file system?
2. IIRC other distros use a similar concept, but different locations.
What do they use? (I remember a comparison at AllSystemsGo, but couldn't
find a talk)
3. the inst macros so far only consider /etc/XY.d/* if they are
excplicitly named. Is there a good reason why installing /etc/XY should
automagically install the configuration directory as well? This feels
like too much magic at this point.
My naive strategy would create a patch that implicitly turns
inst /etc/services
into
inst_any /etc/services /usr/etc/services
IF the path starts in /etc/ AND some variable is defined that provides
the alternative location (/usr/etc in this case).
Cheers,
Daniel

by Kilian Holzinger 22 Mar '20
by Kilian Holzinger 22 Mar '20
22 Mar '20
Hello!
I use a German keyboard layout and I am entering my LUKS password in
German layout for ages. Since my zypper dup update yesterday it suddenly
changed back to US layout.
What change caused it?
How can I change it back?
Best regards
Kilian

Dear Reinhard, Marcus and Stefan,
I've noticed a change to the latest PostgreSQL package, that results in an
important dependency shift.
In order to have pg_config available, which is essential for proper postgresql
binding, packages like python-psycopg2 and asterisk need this:
%if ( 0%{?sle_version} >= 150200 && 0%{?is_opensuse} ) || 0%{?suse_version} >
1500
BuildRequires: postgresql-server-devel
%else
BuildRequires: postgresql-devel
%endif
Is this new behavior to be expected?
Cheers,
Pete

Hi,
A user just contributed a script that downloads and installs the extension pack
for VirtualBox. I would like to get the sense of VB users regarding
implementation of this script in the post-install routine for the openSUSE package.
Thanks,
Larry

Subpackages: drbd-kmp-default
- bsc#1166298, Update to drbd-9.0.22-1
* introduce locking to avoid connection retries when UUIDs or
relevant flags change during the exchange of this data
* improve serialization of events after loosing a primary
* fix a constraint in sanitize state that can caused a promote to be
deliced by some other node
* fix a case of a false positive detection of a split brain condition
* allow a resync target to switch to the resync source with less
bits out of sync
* fix bitmap UUID after resync to use current UUID from self rather
than sync source
* fix pushing bitmap UUID into history when changed
* fix regression introduced with 9.0.20, that can cause a missed
resync after a reconciliation resync
* fix regression introduced with 9.0.20, that can cause a missed
resync after a promote on a diskless node
* fix UUID handling in case a node promotes during (a short)
reconciliation resync
* fix removing of a diskless node when quorum is enabled
- Update to drbd-9.0.21-1, require coccinelle >= 1.0.8
* fix compat for write same on linux 4.9 and the Debian users
* fix kernel compat for linux 4.8 and 4.9; this mainly affected Debian
users; The symptoms where slow resync and resync getting stuck always at
the same point
* enable resync of lost and re-created backing devices (think lost node) when
the backing device was thinly provisioned and its current uuid is pre-set
to a 'day0 UUID' (by LINSTOR); that works by copying a unused bitmap slot
which tracks all changes since day 0
* fix attach when bitmap is on PMEM; before it was set to
'all blocks out-of-sync' upon attach
* avoid doing reconciliation resync multiple times by updating the
resync target's dagtag after if completed successfully
* return disk-state from Outdated to UpToDate when it loses connection
while in WFBitMapT and we have a stable and UpToDate peer
* new option --force-resync flag can be passed to new-current-uuid, that
can be used to trigger initial resync without touching the role
- Remove upstream drbd-update-resync-target-s-dagtag.patch
- Modify patch suse-coccinelle.patch to adopt spaas

[opensuse-factory] Tumbleweed - Review of the weeks 2020/11 & 12
by Dominique Leuenberger / DimStar 20 Mar '20
by Dominique Leuenberger / DimStar 20 Mar '20
20 Mar '20
Dear Tumbleweed users and hackers,
Last week I missed, for personal reasons, to write up the report. So,
slacking in one week means I have to catch up the other week. Of
course, you are all eager to hear/read what is happening in Tumbleweed.
In the period since covered, we have released 7 Snapshots (0305, 0306,
0307, 0309, 0311, 0312 and 0314). The major changes were:
* Linux kernel 5.5.7
* Python 3.8.2, with a lot of python modules being updated
* Mesa 20.0.1
* KDE Applications 19.12.3
* KDE Plasma 5.18.3
Thins currently being staged or close to be shipped:
* RPM: change of database format to ndb
* Linux kernel 5.5.10
* Qt 5.15.0 (currently betas being tested)
* Ruby 2.7 – possibly paired with the removal of Ruby 2.6
* GCC 10 as the default compiler
* Removal of Python 2
* GNU Make 4.3
Cheers,
Dominique

Hi all,
I need some guidance on how to create a proper bugreport.
I'm running a server at home with Leap, which hosts among others an owncloud instance with mariadb as database backend.
Since I was using a newer kernel because of XFS features anyway, yesterday I thought it would be a good idea to try
updating to Leap 15.2 beta.
I did take a fresh backup before doing this, which proved a good idea.
After the update, the mariadb databases were broken.
mysql root user was not able to access the database.
Re-running "mysql_secure_installation" was not possible because of that.
So I moved away /var/lib/mysql, rerun mysql_secure_installation and tried to restore the database dump with
mysql -u root < /space3/backup/sda/mysqldump/2020-03-15.sql
which choked on line 2009
2002 --
2003 -- Table structure for table `user`
2004 --
2005
2006 DROP TABLE IF EXISTS `user`;
2007 /*!40101 SET @saved_cs_client = @@character_set_client */;
2008 /*!40101 SET character_set_client = utf8 */;
2009 CREATE TABLE `user` (
2010 `Host` char(60) COLLATE utf8_bin NOT NULL DEFAULT '',
2011 `User` char(80) COLLATE utf8_bin NOT NULL DEFAULT '',
Because I needed the system up, the next try was "restore /var/lib/mysql from backup" which fortunately worked.
My guess is that even though mariadb shows a post-upgrade message that you should backup /var/lib/mysql before
restarting the database (which will perform an update), actually the RPM restarts the database and something went badly
wrong at this step.
As you might guess, I know nothing about mariadb and databases in general, so I'm type of lost on how to create a useful
bugreport.
I still have the (broken) contents of /var/lib/mysql that do not work.
I also have a fairly complete backup of the system before the update, so if time permits, I might try to reproduce the
issue in a virtual machine.
So what information would the mariadb maintainer need from me in a good bugreport?
Thanks,
seife
