Big update: openSUSE Leap 15.3 testing images are finally available and detail about Leap 15.3 submissions

Ahoy openSUSE! I'd like to inform you that you can already find openSUSE Leap 15.3 testing images on https://software.opensuse.org/distributions/testing . We're really sorry for the delay that was caused mostly by waiting on SLE 15 SP3 Beta1 NDA liftoff and rebuild of openSUSE Backports. I've already requested process changes, so this does not happen next release. Just a reminder that openSUSE Leap 15.3 is based on the Jump concept that we've developed for the past several months. https://en.opensuse.org/Portal:Jump Any update request to existing packages should be simply submitted against openSUSE:Leap:15.3 and OBS will determine where to redirect the request either to SLE or openSUSE Backports. The top-level Leap project servers more like a wrapper for building images and to override SLE branding. On new package submissions: Please note that new packages need to be currently submitted against openSUSE:Backports:SLE-15-SP3.opensuse-factory@ We know it's inconvenient and we'll work with the Autobuild team to make it a default destination place for any new package submission for openSUSE Leap 15.3. Note: on SLE submissions: Yes you can finally do them. Please make sure that you reference JIRA (e.g. openSUSE partner id request) or bugzilla number while sending request against package comming from SUSE Linux Enterprise. [opensuse-factory] Random desktop lockups with kernel 5.9.x

Hi! Ever since my machine got upgraded to kernel 5.9.x, my Tumbleweed installation is randomly locking up (KDE, X11). Booting into the last 5.8.x kernel fixes the problem, so it's definitely related to the kernel and not anything else. Does anyone else see such lockups? This is on a Dell E7470 laptop with Intel Skylake graphics (Skylake GT2 [HD Graphics 520]), in case it might be related to bugs in the GPU driver. Adrian

Incoming javascript and wasm packages

Hello everyone, I am looking at adding a few packages to Factory soon. To start with: * binaryen <https://build.opensuse.org/request/show/853081> * quickjs <https://build.opensuse.org/package/show/devel:tools:compiler/quickjs> The quickjs compiler is now in devel. The more common use case for quickjs <https://bellard.org/quickjs/> seems to be embedding it yourself. However, it now includes a number of CLI apps, so I created a small package. By the way thanks for reviewing the submission Pluskalm and Andreas! Sharing a learning about optflags: passing the optflags can be tricky, and even trickier still is validating that it was passed correctly. For this, I found it helpful to check the build log. If the defaults are getting passed, you should see FORTIFY_SOURCE=2 getting passed around quite a bit. Also, I am having a look at building: * deno <https://build.opensuse.org/package/show/home:avindra/deno#comment-1368472> * emscripten <https://build.opensuse.org/package/show/home:avindra/emscripten> If anyone has a good idea of why the deno build is getting killed and if there is a workaround, please let me know. ISO images authenticity check: Signature does not check and no detached signature

A user brought to my attention that the gpg public key we provide (0x22C07BA534178CD02EFE22AAB88B2FD43DBDC284) does not allow to gpg verify the checksum files associated with our ISO images. For instance, the checksum file at http://download.opensuse.org/tumbleweed/iso/openSUSE-Tumbleweed-KDE-Live-x8… will not be verified by `gpg --verify <iso dot sha256 dot file>`. As far as I understand, a detached signature file could be an alternative, using this time `gpg --verify <detached signature file> <iso dot sha256 dot file>`, but we won't provide one either. Does it mean that users cannot verify the authenticity of our ISO images as of now? Best, Adrien

Build a complete distribution using OBS

hi， I originally planned to use openSUSE's OBS, but unfortunately it does not support mips64el architecture, so I built an OBS on my computer. The software package can now be compiled normally.I plan to use it to build a complete distribution, I refer toopenSUSE:Factory, But I did not understand how the standard in its repositories is configured.Does anyone understand?Can you give me some guidance? thanks！

Multi-spec packages only need a single .changes file now

Hi, Previously, packages with multiple spec files (e.g. systemd, which has both systemd.spec and systemd-mini.spec) needed a .changes file for each .spec. As the vast majority of changes (e.g. version updates) affect all "flavors", this requirement got dropped and only a single .changes file with the name used for the submit request is needed. TW: Sound lost after switch to Nvidia & connecting external monitor

Hi, right at year end I ran into a serious problem on TW: Operating System: openSUSE Tumbleweed 20201228 KDE Plasma Version: 5.20.4 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.77.0 Qt Version: 5.15.2 Kernel Version: 5.10.1-1-default In order to use an external monitor I used-prime select wo switch to nvidia - driver nvidia-glG05-460.27.04 (with just the intel driver, no expternal HDMI- Monitor can be connected). Switch to external monitor worked well with everything, but suddenly sound is gone! Neither KDE audio module nor pavucontrol detect any sound devices anymore. Switched back to intel graphics, rebooted - no change, Any ideas what to try? Just noticed that the available nvidia 450.80.02 kmp doesn't build with kernel 5.10 . See BOO 1180095.
