[opensuse-factory] can't login to buzilla & 3 other bugs: using delay-tools, building them, need more caps on wireshark....

Was going to report prob w/delay tools -- doesn't seem to list a version, but wasn't getting expected output, so straced it and at end got: > strace -ff getdelays -c sleep 1 |& more ... So tried to rebuid it from tumb source: rpm -qi delayacct-utils ... Build Date : Mon Jun 11 16:51:34 2018 Install Date: Tue Nov 13 05:17:02 2018 Distribution: openSUSE Tumbleweed > rpm -Uhv /tumbleweed/src/delayacct-utils-4.17.0-29.4.src.rpm ... That didn't work -- gave me: > rpmbuild -ba specs/delayacct-utils.spec error: File /usr/src/packages/SOURCES/delayacct-utils-3.16.7/delayacct-utils.tar.bz2: No such file or directory I look at sources and find its not in 3.16.7, but in packages/sources> ll delayacct-utils-4.17.0/ 4.17.0 is closer to what the kernel number was last june maybe, as it is a bit over 4.20.3 now (maybe 4.21?) Yup....it sets its version to the version of the kernel it is built on: (spec): Name: delayacct-utils BuildRequires: kernel-source Summary: Delay Accounting Utilities License: GPL-2.0 Group: System/Monitoring %define version %(rpm -q --qf '%%{VERSION}' kernel-source) Version: %version Release: 29.4 So am guessing the build machine was running a very old kernel? Maybe it should be a bit better behaved about it's version matching running kernel's rather than just going haywire? === and then on wireshark...I only got that cap net_admin needed setting, but that doesn't allow filtering to work...maybe cap_sys_admin...hadn't got that far in testing yet....tried to login to bug site...bug site came up ok, but press login and I get a blank screen and novel never arranged a good encrypted connection after that...I see encrypted alerts and what looked like timeouts so can't ever login...but the bugzila homepage is talking to m e over https just fine. Think this was mentioned eaerlier on this list right after some bug was announced in ssh and encryptions were changed -- but not everywhere the same. And no -- i couldn't post this stuff in bugzilla...can't logon there. (*sigh*) and my original start was to find out why catting an empty file took 3 seconds. (thus the delay utils).... (*double sigh*) I think I need to goto store or something....but wanted to get down these 3-4 bugs... [opensuse-factory] Question about Sane - plustek is missing on my TW machine..

Maybe I'm just dumb or I didn't look around enough, but since today's TW updates (last updated last weekend) my USB scanner (EPSON) isn't recognized anymore, only partially. Reason seems to be the error message that YaST throws up: "plustek not found in /etc/sane.d/dll.conf" Whereas scanimage -L does not see the printer, sane-find-scanner shows it with: (...) found USB scanner (vendor=0x04b8 [EPSON], product=0x011d [EPSON Scanner], chip=LM9832/3) at libusb:003:006 (...) I'm still looking around, but has anybody noticed the same? [opensuse-factory] strange su behaviour

After the latest TW update from last Wednesday I noticed a strange behavior when using the next command: su - <name> It always returns with the next message: [1]+ Stopped su - <name> I also found that runuser displayed the same behavior and I also noticed that the actual su process keeps on running in the background. It acts as if I have entered: su - <name> & kill <pid> So I wonder, is it "the latest feature" or a bug? [opensuse-factory] zypper dup disk space requirement

Hi List, I just did my 'zypper dup' to the fully recompiled system. As there had been some reports about out of disk space conditions I thought I watch it carefully, and report here. I started deleting all old snapshots. This left me with woodstock:~% df -h / Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on /dev/sda2 68G 49G 20G 72% / Then I started the dup. It told me it would download 3576 packages, totaling to 3.something GB. Only one conflict with a python package. So I started. After update is finished, this is the usage: woodstock:~% df -h / Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on /dev/sda2 68G 61G 6.2G 91% / So, that's 13.8GB space needed for the update because all files are COWed during update, but stay undeleted in the snapshot :o Now that extent might be non-standard, as I have installed lots of development stuff and also TeX. But the keypoint is that such an update will require the full size of your current system (minus the logs of course) as free space. (The difference between the initial 49GB usage and those ~14GB is mostly in the /usr/local subvolume and external software in /opt). So for sure checking that there is enough space to download the packages in advance is not sufficient to make sure the upgrade succeeds. Maybe zypper should get some better logic like summing the installed sizes of the packages to be installed and make sure that is available? [opensuse-factory] Leap 15.0: krb5 update breaks rdp

Hi! Leap 15.0, the update of krb5 from v 1.15.2-lp150.5.3.1 to v 1.15.2- lp150.5.6.1, which I installed yesterday (February 6th, 2019), breaks the remote desktop protocol. Neither xfreerdp nor rdesktop »work«: They start, but no window, no error. I went back to the older version and rdesktop is back to normal. Is this a bug or did the new krb5 bring a feature that needs some customization on the other side (the remote Windows-PC)? Hello, When I try to start yast2 bootloader I get this error: Internal error. Please report a bug report with logs. Run save_y2logs to get complete logs. While trying to dup to Tumbleweed 20190202, the installation process suddenly got stuck at trying to install 'btrfsmaintenance' at 70%.
