Good morning,
I ran a zypper dup this morning on an old Netbook running LXQT.
after rboot a screen popped up and asked something about a window
manager....I think I chose icewm.
Now i have the unpleasant situation that I have an icewm session
running on top of lxqt! When I log off from icewm the 'normal' LQXT
surface comes up, but w/o any window decorations (top bar with
small/large/close button)
I checked on update alternatives, but that looks good:
eeePC:/home/axel # update-alternatives --config
default-xsession.desktop There are 2 choices for the alternative
default-xsession.desktop
(providing /usr/share/xsessions/default.desktop).
Selection Path Priority
Status ------------------------------------------------------------
* 0 /usr/share/xsessions/lxqt.desktop 20
auto mode 1 /usr/share/xsessions/icewm-session.desktop
15 manual mode
2 /usr/share/xsessions/lxqt.desktop 20
manual mode
When I log off from lxqr (via lxqt panel) it shows lxqt-session as well
on the login panel.
an idea what the issue is/how to fix it?
Thanks
Axel

Sorry to ask here but since Tumbleweed is a bit more specific than for
example Ubuntu, I've not found any answers on the Web.
If you think my post is too "off-topic", I invite you to reply to my
personal email and not on the list.
1 - How to set locale so that XFCE Desktop and system environment is
correctly configured to a specific language.
After my attempts to configure an user to use Portuguese at his login
(attempt failed because it remained in English) once I logged back to my
user login which was set in Italian, I found it was in English and
despite many different approaches, including Yast Language, I haven't be
able to roll-back to my previous locale.
In order to be able to do it, I had to add the following statement to my
.bashrc:
export LC_CTYPE=it_IT.UTF-8
When I executed "locale" *before* adding such line in .bashrc, it was
reporting two times that variable and giving an error:
LANG=it_IT.UTF-8
LC_CTYPE=it_IT.UTF-8, it_IT.UTF-8
LC_NUMERIC="it_IT.UTF-8"
LC_TIME="it_IT.UTF-8"
LC_COLLATE="it_IT.UTF-8"
LC_MONETARY="it_IT.UTF-8"
LC_MESSAGES="it_IT.UTF-8"
LC_PAPER="it_IT.UTF-8"
LC_NAME="it_IT.UTF-8"
LC_ADDRESS="it_IT.UTF-8"
LC_TELEPHONE="it_IT.UTF-8"
LC_MEASUREMENT="it_IT.UTF-8"
LC_IDENTIFICATION="it_IT.UTF-8"
LC_ALL=
2 - Why XSane-Scanner Tool produces so large PDF files, also if we set
low resolution at 150 DPI?
I found a script (http://www.alfredklomp.com/programming/shrinkpdf) on
the Web which uses ghostscript which reduce a 15.2Mb Xsane PDF to just
1.4 Mb in size, so IMHO XSane developers should think to include a more
efficient compression routine to avoid the scanned PDF being created
with a so very big size.
Thanks and regards,

I'm not entirely sure if this is specific to OpenSUSE but thought I
would post here to see if my case is isolated or not.
For the past week or so Firefox has been extremely slow for me.
Looking at the CPU monitor it seems like this is consistently and
particularly bad when opening new tabs (100% of CPU is used for a
short while and then goes back to normal). But from what I can tell
this also happens sometimes at random intervals.
It's got to the point where unfortunately I've had to switch to
chromium as it's become close to unusable.
Is this a known issue or is someone else experiencing this?

- add btmgmt to bluez-test
==== dbus-1 ====
Subpackages: libdbus-1-3 libdbus-1-3-32bit
- Drop use of $FIRST_ARG in .spec
The use of $FIRST_ARG was probably required because of the
%service_* rpm macros were playing tricks with the shell positional
parameters. This is bad practice and error prones so let's assume
that no macros should do that anymore and hence it's safe to assume
that positional parameters remains unchanged after any rpm macro
call.

fixing bpo-35746.
An exploitable denial-of-service vulnerability exists in the
X509 certificate parser of Python.org Python 2.7.11 / 3.7.2.
A specially crafted X509 certificate can cause a NULL pointer
dereference, resulting in a denial of service. An attacker can
initiate or accept TLS connections using crafted certificates
to trigger this vulnerability.

+ Data updates
* Updated tzdata version to to 2018i.

* Added support for EXDATE parameters when parsing rrule
strings. Reported by @mlorant (gh issue #410), fixed by
@nicoe (gh pr #859).
* Added support for sub-minute time zone offsets in Python
3.6+. Fixed by @cssherry (gh issue #582, pr #763)
* Switched the tzoffset, tzstr and gettz caches over to using
weak references, so that the cache expires when no other
references to the original tzinfo objects exist. This cache-
expiry behavior is not guaranteed in the public interface and
may change in the future. To improve performance in the case
where transient references to the same time zones are
repeatedly created but no strong reference is continuously
held, a smaller ?strong value? cache was also added. Weak
value cache implemented by @cs-cordero (gh pr #672, #801),
strong cache added by Gken Nurlu (gh issue #691, gh pr
[#761])
+ Bugfixes
* Added time zone inference when initializing an rrule with a
specified UNTIL but without an explicitly specified DTSTART;
the time zone of the generated DTSTART will now be taken from
the UNTIL rule. Reported by @href (gh issue #652). Fixed by
@absreim (gh pr #693).
* Fixed an issue where parser.parse would raise Decimal-
specific errors instead of a standard ValueError if certain
malformed values were parsed (e.g. NaN or infinite values).
Reported and fixed by @amureki (gh issue #662, gh pr #679).
* Fixed issue in parser where a tzinfos call explicitly
returning None would throw a ValueError. Fixed by @parsethis
(gh issue #661, gh pr #681)
* Fixed incorrect parsing of certain dates earlier than 100 AD
when repesented in the form ?%B.%Y.%d?, e.g.
?December.0031.30?. (gh issue #687, pr #700)
* Add support for ISO 8601 times with comma as the decimal
separator in the dateutil.parser.isoparse function. (gh pr
[#721])
* Changed handling of T24:00 to be compliant with the standard.
T24:00 now represents midnight on the following day. Fixed by
@cheukting (gh issue #658, gh pr #751)
* Fixed an issue where isoparser.parse_isotime was unable to
handle the 24:00 variant representation of midnight. (gh pr
[#773])
* Added support for more than 6 fractional digits in isoparse.
Reported and fixed by @jayschwa (gh issue #786, gh pr #787).

Reported by @cjgibson (gh issue #820). Fixed by @Cheukting
(gh pr #822)

and refactored the way base offset changes are detected.
Originally reported on StackOverflow by @MartinThoma. (gh
issue #812, gh pr #810)
* Fixed error condition in tz.gettz when a non-ASCII timezone
is passed on Windows in Python 2.7. (gh issue #802, pr #861)
* Improved performance and inspection properties of tzname
methods. (gh pr #811)
* Removed unnecessary binary_type compatibility shims. Added by
@jdufresne (gh pr #817)
* Changed python setup.py test to print an error to stderr and
exit with 1 instead of 0. Reported and fixed by @hroncok (gh
pr #814)
* Added a pyproject.toml file with build requirements and an
explicitly specified build backend. (gh issue #736, gh prs
[#746], #863)
+ Documentation changes
* Added documentation for the rrule.rrulestr function. Fixed by
@prdickson (gh issue #623, gh pr #762)
* Added documentation for dateutil.tz.gettz. Fixed by
@weatherpattern (gh issue #647, gh pr #704)
* Add documentation for the dateutil.tz.win module and mocked
out certain Windows-specific modules so that autodoc can
still be run on non-Windows systems. (gh issue #442, pr #715)
* Added changelog to documentation. (gh issue #692, gh pr #707)
* Changed order of keywords in the rrule docstring. Reported

blocker. Given the proliferation of using vm's with host features
passed through and the general knowledge that nested
virtualization has many usage caveats, but still gets put in use
in restricted scenarios, this patch did more harm than good, I
feel. So despite this relaxation, please consider yourself warned
that nested virtualization is not yet a supportable feature.

0058-Revert-target-i386-kvm-add-VMX-migr.patch

- Remove 71-sev.rules, which modifies the default permissions of
/dev/sev by adding the kvm group as reader/writer. Upstream
decided to take a different approach for libvirt to manage SEV
due to security concerns which I agree overrides the convenience
of providing /dev/sev access to all the kvm group (bsc#1124842
bsc#1102604)
==== qemu-linux-user ====
- Patch queue updated from git://github.com/openSUSE/qemu.git opensuse-3.1

[opensuse-factory] Problem with zypper update since ~2weeks in Tumbleweed because grub2 hangs
by Tobias Ries 27 Feb '19
by Tobias Ries 27 Feb '19
27 Feb '19
Dear Tumbleweed team,
since about 2-3 weeks zypper dup does not work smoothly any more on my
tumbleweed installation because it calls grub2 and grub2 hangs with 100%
load on one cpu core.
I found out, that the reason for this is that grub2 fails to mount /
read / identify a manufacturer partition (of hp) which causes it to hang.
My current workaround is to kill the grub2 process. Then the update
procedure continues without errors.
However it's a bit annoying because this has to be done about 5-7times
during an update process and also once after a normal system start.
If you require further information (like details about system partition
information), please don't hesitate to contact me.
Best regards
Tobias Ries
P.S. Thanks for fixing FreeCad again. :-)

Hi list,
I just found some cool ML project using the tensorflow package. Seeing it's
in the normal Tumbleweed repo I wanted to install it, but I get
3 Problems:
Problem: nothing provides python(abi) = 3.6 needed by tensorflow-1.10.0-4.1.x86_64
Problem: nothing provides python(abi) = 3.6 needed by tensorflow-doc-1.10.0-4.1.x86_64
Problem: nothing provides python(abi) = 3.6 needed by tensorflow-1.10.0-4.1.x86_64
It obviously doesn't like the recent switch to Python 3.7 :o
Is such regarded an error (-> bugreport), or rather a sit-and-wait thing that
should resolve itself soon?

as Godot, has been improved.
* GLX and swrast have also seen some improvements.
* On the Vulkan side, the ANV driver adjusted the number of images supported
for gen8 and earlier to 8, while for newer hardware it remains the same 64.
The RADV driver has seens a collection of stability improvements and fix for
the Vulkan version advertised in some corner cases.
* To top it all up, the meson build system has seen a steady amount of fixes:
the DSO version for the VDPAU drivers is now included, ICC compatibility
patches, opencl handling and relaxed handling when building osmesa.
- adjusted n_Disable-Xshm-for-now-since-it-results-in-render-erro.patch
- Build Mesa with meson instead of automake

encoding of VEX.W-ignored (WIG) VEX instructions.
It also has a new -mx86-used-note=[yes|no] option to generate (or
not) x86 GNU property notes.

Subpackages: dialog-lang
- Update to version 1.3-20190211
+ modify to work with ncurses' threaded-library, which does not allow
assignment to LINES/COLS (report by Marcus Roeckrath).
+ correct clearing after text in progressbox from 2018/06/21 changes
for resizing (reports by David Boyd, Alan Somers).
+ improved configure macros CF_GNU_SOURCE, CF_POSIX_C_SOURCE,
CF_XOPEN_SOURCE
+ update config.guess, config.sub
- Includes also version 1.3-20181107
+ convert ja.po to UTF-8 for consistency (suggested by Stanislav
Brabec).
+ repair mis-encoded hi.po (report/analysis by Stanislav Brabec).
- Includes also version 1.3-20181022
+ improved configure macros CF_CC_ENV_FLAGS, CF_LD_RPATH_OPT,
CF_LIBRARY_PATH, CF_SHARED_OPTS, CF_WITH_MAN2HTML,
CF_WITH_VERSIONED_SYMS from ncurses
+ add ast.po, from
http://translationproject.org/latest/dialog/
- Includes also version 1.3-20180621
+ improve file-offset computation in textbox.c (Werner Fink).
+ fix an overlooked case with real_auto_size() to maximize when
height or width is given as -1.
+ build-fixes for configure options "--disable-Xdialog2" and
"--disable-form"
+ add traces for each widget to show its parameters.
+ modify color scheme for mixedgauge to use the dialog window colors,
like the captions.
+ fix a too-small malloc in the mixedgauge widget.
+ fix a use-after-free in dlg_remove_callback().
+ improve handling of SIGWINCH for several widgets (Debian #865840).
+ menubox, the point of the Debian report was that it would be nice
to increase the window size if the terminal size increases. Did
that as a special case less problematic than decreasing the
terminal size. Added samples/menubox11 to demonstrate by
comparison with menubox10 a problem with debconf which puts extra
newlines in the caption that interfere with autowrap.
+ progressbox and derived prgbox, programbox, now handle resizing.
+ yesno, window was cleared
+ add dlg_ttysize() to support new options, allowing scripts to obtain
some text-formatting details without initializing the terminal.
+ add options --print-text-only, and --print-text-size for scripts that
adjust the widget size according to how the captions are formatted.
+ improve dialog.pl:
+ add demo.pl, to demonstrate the functions
+ quote/escape string parameters passed to dialog.
+ ensure all "integer" parameters are really integers.
+ use actual screensize for list captions rather than assuming 24
lines.
+ when trimming blanks, treat unconverted tabs the same as spaces.
+ correct parameter to test when trimming blanks from the script,
e.g., with "--trim" (report by Jarno Suni).
+ improve documentation of the various whitespace-filtering options,
to show which take precedence (Debian #867536, cf: Debian #102942).
+ modify msgbox.c, yesno.c to bind SCROLLKEY_BINDINGS before
TRAVERSE_BINDINGS so that up/down arrow will by default scroll the
message up/down rather than be aliases for tab-traversal (report by
Fredrik Kers).
+ modify dump_one_binding() to show when a binding is overridden.
+ improve format of trace-file, making comment-syntax consistent,
as well as showing argv-splitting as a series of comments.
+ modify dlg_string_to_argv() to change the quoting behavior to be
more consistent with shell behavior (patch by Denilson Sa Maia).
+ modify dlg_getc() to return ESC when a timeout expires, notifying
callers that a quit occurred rather than exiting the application
(suggested by Rodrigo Freitas).
+ modify handle_inputs() to ensure cursor-visibility is restored when
there is no input character available (report by Guillaume Vareille).
+ improve comment in manual page regarding which widgets can use the
"--help-button" (prompted by discussion with Csanyi Pal).
+ add a check for valid object pointer in tailbox's main loop since
the getc-callback may have been freed within ui_getc.c (report by
"David").
+ improved configure macros for ncurses: CF_GNU_SOURCE, CF_SHARED_OPTS,
CF_CURSES_LIBS, CF_CURSES_FUNCS, CF_NCURSES_CONFIG
+ improved configure script checks for groff vs man2html:
CF_PROG_GROFF and CF_WITH_MAN2HTML
+ build-fix from lynx for AM_WITH_NLS configure macro

- Add FFTW_BIN to environment variable with module file (bsc#1125824).
==== flatpak ====
Version update (1.2.0 -> 1.2.3)
Subpackages: libflatpak0 typelib-1_0-Flatpak-1_0
- Update to version 1.2.3:
+ Don't expose /proc in apply_extra script sandbox. The CVE-2019-5736
runc vulnerability is about using /proc/self/exe to modify the host
side binary from the sandbox. This mostly does not affect flatpak
since the flatpak sandbox is not run with root permissions.
However, there is one case (running the apply_extra script for
system installs) where this happens, so this release contains a fix
for that.
- Update to version 1.2.2:
+ Reverted green checkbox as they caused table alignment issues
+ Fix a division by zero if the terminal reports a zero terminal
width (which happens in the flathub build environment).
- Update to version 1.2.1:
+ Ensure flatpak builds with older versions of glib and
appstream-glib.
+ build-commit-from: Fix the new --extra-id option.
+ build-export: Allow disabling the sandboxing of the icon validator
and do so during the tests.
+ profile: Don't break if debug logging is enabled.
+ Better handling of the appdata release attribute.
+ Don't install polkit agent when not needed, avoiding some
unnecessary log lines in some cases.
+ Fix the output of the sandboxed icon validator not being visible.
+ builld-init: Allow specifying a full ref for the sdk, which is
used to select the branch name when checking sdk extensions.
+ Make the ok checks in the output green
==== fontconfig ====
Subpackages: fontconfig-devel fontconfig-lang libfontconfig1 libfontconfig1-32bit
- Add fontconfig-do-not-remove-UUID-file.patch: Removing .uuid
files caused frequent rescanning of all system fonts causing
intermittent CPU usage surges, for example, when browsing using
firefox; patch taken from upstream commit (boo#1124816,
https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/fontconfig/fontconfig/merge_requests/8).
==== glib2 ====

- BuildIgnore glib2-devel: since we have to require gtk-doc in
order to produce the doc, we gained an implicit dependency on
ourselves. The gtk-doc dependency is correct, but glib happens
to be buildable without this dependency too.
- Rework the check section to be in an own if/endif block so that
spec-cleaner is not getting confused by it.
==== glibc ====

Version update (18.1 -> 19.0.2)
- Avoid name repetition in summary. Summary should not be a
sentence (let alone three).
- Update to 19.0.2 (2019-02-09):
+ Bug Fixes
* Fix a crash where PEP 517-based builds using --no-cache-dir
would fail in some circumstances with an AssertionError due
to not finalizing a build directory internally. (#6197)
* Provide a better error message if attempting an editable
install of a directory with a pyproject.toml but no setup.py.
(#6170)
* The implicit default backend used for projects that provide a
pyproject.toml file without explicitly specifying build-
backend now behaves more like direct execution of setup.py,
and hence should restore compatibility with projects that
were unable to be installed with pip 19.0. This raised the
minimum required version of setuptools for such builds to
40.8.0. (#6163)
* Allow RECORD lines with more than three elements, and display
a warning. (#6165)
* AdjacentTempDirectory fails on unwritable directory instead
of locking up the uninstall command. (#6169)
* Make failed uninstalls roll back more reliably and better at
avoiding naming conflicts. (#6194)
* Ensure the correct wheel file is copied when building PEP 517
distribution is built. (#6196)
* The Python 2 end of life warning now only shows on CPython,
which is the implementation that has announced end of life
plans. (#6207)
+ Improved Documentation
* Re-write README and documentation index (#5815)
- Update to 19.0.1 (2019-01-23):

+ Deprecations and Removals
* Deprecate support for Python 3.4 (#6106)
* Start printing a warning for Python 2.7 to warn of impending
Python 2.7 End-of-life and prompt users to start migrating to
Python 3. (#6148)
* Remove the deprecated --process-dependency-links option.
(#6060)
* Remove the deprecated SVN editable detection based on
dependency links during freeze. (#5866)
+ Features
* Implement PEP 517 (allow projects to specify a build backend
via pyproject.toml). (#5743)
* Implement manylinux2010 platform tag support. manylinux2010
is the successor to manylinux1. It allows carefully compiled
binary wheels to be installed on compatible Linux platforms.
(#5008)
* Improve build isolation: handle .pth files, so namespace
packages are correctly supported under Python 3.2 and
earlier. (#5656)
* Include the package name in a freeze warning if the package
is not installed. (#5943)
* Warn when dropping an --[extra-]index-url value that points
to an existing local directory. (#5827)
* Prefix pip?s --log file lines with their timestamp. (#6141)
+ Bug Fixes
* Avoid creating excessively long temporary paths when
uninstalling packages. (#3055)
* Redact the password from the URL in various log messages.
(#4746, #6124)
* Avoid creating excessively long temporary paths when
uninstalling packages. (#3055)
* Avoid printing a stack trace when given an invalid
requirement. (#5147)
* Present 401 warning if username/password do not work for URL
(#4833)
* Handle requests.exceptions.RetryError raised in PackageFinder
that was causing pip to fail silently when some indexes were
unreachable. (#5270, #5483)

running pip list | head). (#4170)
* Fix crash from setting PIP_NO_CACHE_DIR=yes. (#5385)

installed packages in pip list --outdated --not-required
(#5737)
* Fix sorting TypeError in move_wheel_files() when installing
some packages. (#5868)

* Editable non-VCS installs now freeze as editable. (#5031)
