Hi all,
As many people are aware the sharing of code between Leap and SLE
combined with SUSE's "Factory First" policy has often lead to the need
for openSUSE community members needing to read bugs that have been
marked as private because they were originally created for SLE.
For some time SUSE has been happy for SUSE employee's to review and
disclose the contents of private bugs as long as we don't share any
customer information. We can either do this by making any such
confidential info private in the bug should it exist then making the bug
public or in other cases providing a summary of the bug and discussion,
even if in some cases all we can say is "this is a private customer feature"
In order to make this process slightly easier and more formal during las
weeks board discussion the board decided to the mailing list
opensuse-bugshare(a)opensuse.org where community members can send an email
then a volunteer SUSE employee can read the bug report then either open
it or provide a summary.
Currently this is a short term solution, SUSE Engineering understands
this problem and will be working toward a better solution longer term.
If you are a SUSE employee and you are happy to help with this process
shoot me an email and i'll get you subscribed to the list.
Cheers

Hi all,
We have pretty strict requirements how the group tags are shown. [0]
But there are only 2 ways to use it, 1) yast view based on groups 2)
using rpm -q to get information for the individual package.
For all other purposes from zypp/packagekit this stuff is ignored.
In general it does not really make sense to install packages based on
groups. As Fedora already deprecated this tag it would make sense for
us to drop it too [1][2].
Proposed change would be to kill the Yast UI and then have spec-cleaner
to drop the part where needed. It won't break on older releases as it
would simply have Undefined as a group.
Cheers
Tom

Hi,
I have finished converting VirtualBox from Python 2.7 to 3.6, and I am currently
testing it. No problems with the new package have been found, once it built
without error.
Most of the changes were contained within the VB files; however, the system
macro py_compile found in /usr/lib/rpm/macros is hardwired to use the "python"
command, which causes it to try to use Python 2.7. My hack is to add a new
version of that macro using python3 to the VB spec file. It works, but I am
wondering if the system version should use __python, or some other macro. Is
this situation worthy of a bug report?
As far as I can tell, all supported versions of openSUSE contain Python 3.6.
Should I push this change to Factory as soon as the testing is complete? What
about Leap 15.0 and Leap 42.3 updates?
Thanks,
Larry

==== libidn2 ====
Version update (2.0.4 -> 2.0.5)
Subpackages: libidn2-0 libidn2-0-32bit
- update to 2.0.5:
* Switch the default library behavior to IDNA2008 as amended by
TR#46 (non-transitional). That default behavior is enabled when
no flags are specified to function calls. Applications can
utilize the %IDN2_NO_TR46 flag to switch to the unamended
IDNA2008. This is done in the interest of interoperability
based on the fact that this is what application writers care
about rather than strict compliance with a particular protocol
* Fixed memory leak in idn2_to_unicode_8zlz()
* Return error (IDN2_ICONV_FAIL) on charset conversion errors
* Fixed issue with STD3 rules applying in non-transitional TR46
mode
* idn2: added option --usestd3asciirules
- put translations into libidn2-lang
- correct location of install_info_prereq macro to be on tools

* [Bug] openmpt123: Fixed build failure in C++17 due to use of removed feature std::random_shuffle.
* STM: Having both Bxx and Cxx commands in a pattern imported the Bxx command incorrectly.
* STM: Last character of sample name was missing.
* Speed up reading of truncated ULT files.
* ULT: Portamento import was sometimes broken.
* The resonant filter was sometimes unstable when combining low-volume samples, low cutoff and high mixing rates.

by Normand 31 May '18

Hi there,
I was not able to find the Leap 42.3 ppc64le iso from software page now
that Leap 15.0 is new stable for x86-64 (1)
How are we supposed to retrieve previous stable Leap isos ?
Do we have to retrieve directly from download server (2) ?
If this is the case then would be good to give directions in software page.
(1) https://software.opensuse.org/distributions/leap
(2) http://download.opensuse.org/ports/ppc/distribution/leap/42.3/iso/

Hi,
I just attempted to test Leap 15.0 in my laptop, and I don't see the XFCE
pattern. I had to abort.
Has XFCE been removed? Is there some trick?
I used openSUSE-Leap-15.0-DVD-x86_64-Build128.1-Media.iso
No internet.

- Spectre v4 vulnerability mitigation support for KVM guests.
High level description of vulnerability: Systems with microprocessors
utilizing speculative execution and speculative execution of memory
reads before the addresses of all prior memory writes are known may
allow unauthorized disclosure of information to an attacker with
local user access via a side-channel analysis.
This change permits the new x86 cpu feature flag named "ssbd" to be
presented to the guest, given that the host has this feature, and
KVM exposes it to the guest as well.
For this feature to be enabled, via adding it to the qemu commandline
(eg: -cpu <model>,+spec-ctrl,+ssbd), so the guest OS can take advantage
of the feature, spec-ctrl and ssbd support is also required in the host.
Another new x86 cpu feature flag named "virt-ssbd" is also added to
handle this vulnerability for AMD processors.
