[opensuse-factory] Upgrade to 15.0: Will Zypper dup delete packages which are not in any Enabled repos?

Actually I have 2 question, perhaps the first is just a confirmation. 1. From reading the docs, I understand `zypped dup` will delete "unavailable" packages (packages which are NOT t in any Enabled repo). Is that correct? 2. If the above is correct, is there an option not to delete such "unavailable" packages? [opensuse-factory] Problem with Leap 15 beta and systemd-nspawn / machinectl

Hello, I have problems to start systemd-nspawn containers on Leap 15, newly installed from the latest cd image. A container that works without problem on Ubuntu 16.04 does not work on the latest Leap beta. It is hard to say exactly what is wrong, one symptom is that I can't get a shell on container "test" that was imported using machinectl import-raw : # machinectl shell test Failed to get shell PTY: No machine 'test' known However journalctl complains about a number of things. Below in the email extract from journalctl after # machinectl start test I notice error messages such as kernel: cgroup: cgroup2: unknown option "nsdelegate" Failed to read AF_UNIX datagram queue length, ignoring: No such file or directory Couldn't move remaining userspace processes, ignoring: Input/output error var-run.mount: Mount process exited, code=exited status=32 [FAILED] Failed to mount Runtime Directory. etc.. I'm trying to build a live image based on Leap 15.0 Beta at OBS, here are a few lines of appliance.kiwi: <packages type="image" patternType="plusRecommended">   <package name="patterns-base-base"/> <package name="patterns-base-x11"/> <package name="patterns-gnome-gnome"/> <package name="gdm"/> </packages> Full: https://build.opensuse.org/package/view_file/home:kamarada:15.0:dev/Linux-K… But it fails with unresolvable: nothing provides vpnc needed by NetworkManager-vpnc I believe that is a Leap 15.0 issue (not OBS nor KIWI), that's why I addressed this e-mail to opensuse-factory. Just as a test, I tried to zypper in NetworkManager-vpnc on my notebook and I got nothing provides vpnc needed by NetworkManager-vpnc. I've read another thread about dropping VPNC, but that focused on why it was dropped (or should not be dropped) and whether it still works or not. Here, I want to call attention to a package management issue: if I understood well, vpnc was already dropped and there is no way back on that decision, so why not drop NetworkManager-vpnc as well? Also, any reference to the vpnc package (requires/recommends/suggests vpnc) should be removed. Any help with that would be really appreciated. Thank you! And keep up the good work with Leap 15.0! Six Tumbleweed snapshots since my last review! The snapshots released during the last week were 0330, 0331, 0401, 0402, 0403 and 0404 (became available just very recently) Some interesting updates were part of those snapshots: * Mesa 18.0.0 final (no actual code change over the last release candidate) * KDE Plasma 5.12.4 * LibreOffice 6.0.3.1 * Mono 5.8.1 * Kubic installation workflow changes * GStreamer 1.12.5 * Samba 4.8.0 * LLVM 6.0 * Kernel config: support signed modules And a lot more going on in the stagings. HI! On an old laptop running Tumbleweed there were crashes in DRM module making all things only working *very* slow. There have been postings here and some tickets quite a while ago but issues were never resolved. With Leap 15 until kernel 4.12.14-lp150.5 everything worked smoothly on Leap 15 and using XFCE. With the DRM patches installed with 4.12.14-lp150.6 same problems now appear in Leap 15. Can I disable this new DRM stuff with a kernel switch at boot time? Hi, everyone! While on Leap 42.3, I was experimenting with an Aladdin / SafeNet eToken PRO, which is a certificate-based PKI USB authentication token. I found this tutorial that recommended, among others, installing the opensc package: Configuring Smart Card authentication on SUSE Linux Enterprise https://www.suse.com/c/configuring-smart-card-authentication-suse-linux-ent… These days I realized that opensc is not available for Leap 15.0 Beta: https://software.opensuse.org/package/opensc An excerpt of the package description: "OpenSC provides a set of utilities to access smart cards. It mainly focuses on cards that support cryptographic operations. It facilitates their use in security applications such as mail encryption, authentication, and digital signature. OpenSC implements the PKCS#11 API. Applications supporting this API, such as Mozilla Firefox and Thunderbird, can use it." Tumbleweed currently has opensc 0.17.0 - the latest stable version, released on 18.07.2017, according to the OpenSC wiki: https://github.com/OpenSC/OpenSC/wiki Leap 42.3 has opensc 0.13.0. [opensuse-factory] TW 20180331: libkdeinit5_kwrite removed?

Morning all, looks like some trouble with KDE again..... 1) trying to open a file out of Dolphin using kwrite, error message: library libkdeinit5_kwrite could not be found. And indeed, kwrite got removed by the last zypper dup. Manual reinstallation fixed it. Was it removed from template? 2) plug-in a USB-stick, select 'open with file manager': error message 'malformatted URL' and file manager does not open. Opening dolphin manually and selecting the USB-device displays the content, so mount process was working properly. Is this distro-specific or should I file a bug upstream? Anyone else seeing this? Recently I did some lookaround on leap 15. Konsole starts only in superusermode and asks imediate for the rootpassword. I could not find a way to start konsole in usermode ! Hi, Today I have my android phone connected to the laptop via USB, but it doesn't charge; in fact, it discharges (verified after some hours of having it connected). I moved the cable to an 1A charger (usb battery pack), and it charges. Connecting to the laptop it says it is charging for some seconds, then the icon changes to discharging (on the phone). I'm going now to reboot to 42.2 and see if there is a difference. [...] Yes, on 42.3 it charges. I reboot to 15.0 without moving the cable, and at some point during the boot it stops charging. I also rebooted the phone. Prior to rebooting the phone, it only charged on the 2A socket of the charger. [opensuse-factory] Leap 15 Plymouth bootsplash images only work under nouveau

Hi all, Has anyone noticed that the new Plymouth bootsplash work under nouveau only? After I installed the nvidia drivers, the three little squares reappeared in the center of the screen during boot up. The Nvidia drivers are working fine with Plymouth in openSUSE Leap 42.3. I can see Plymouth bootsplash but not in Leap 15 and Tumbleweed. Looks like nouveau provides that nvidia doesn't. Any thoughts? -- Cheers! Hi there Using the interactive mode of PowerTOP 2.9 in Leap 15.0, I have noticed that some of the key bindings like "Esc" (or "q" for exit powertop) and "r" (for refresh) take a long time (about 10-15 seconds) to be operative. With version 2.8 of Leap 42.3 there is no delay at all. Does anyone else see this? Any suggestion? Thank you. Hi, since some time (not sure if it was the switch to Quantum), Firefox does not find websites if it is running before the network was up (e.g. if you have to select a WIFI network). Same happens partly if you switch the network, e.g. after a S2RAM. If you restart Firefox, all pages a found and displayed. Looks like an odd (DNS?) caching issue to me. Does anyone know how to fix this, e.g. disable caching? There have been only 3 snapshots released this week, a few more tested and discarded, for different reasons. This has been happening on most of my installations, maybe all, for many months. Why does systemd try to load modules the system has no apparent need for, or do not exist? What should be providing pciehp? AFAIK, I've never had a system that requires dm* for storage access. Hi, Just curious, why minor/bugfix update hasn't come Tumbleweed yet? It is in KDE:Qt.10, but not KDE:Qt5 or openSUSE:Factory. It looks like only Qt5WebEngine was updated to 5.10.1.
