[opensuse-factory] MOTD content and bit of expansion

Hello all, Currently we have in motd only "have a lot of fun..." string which is nice but sadly lacks some informative value. That is quite needed esp in container world to keep up at least some PR levels of what is being used. We can do many things there but I would aim for minimal approach that states something along the lines: "Welcome to openSUSE <release> host, have a lot of fun..." Alternatively we can gork some information and state what container technology we are using, how many resources are at hand/etc, but that might be way too much info :) Cheers Tom

[opensuse-factory] It is currently impossible to install QGIS

Hi, since yesterday it's impossible to install QGIS (available in science and geo OBS repos). It requires package qca. I see it as being in main repository at https://software.opensuse.org/package/qca but 'zypper se qca' doesn't show it and 'sudo zypper in qgis' complains about qca being unavailable. It happens at TW since yesterday or day before, I think. What is wrong? [opensuse-factory] Kmail crashing since last snapshot

Hi I've suddenly had kmail crash now and again when trying to open unread emails. Most times its crashes and gives to the chance to report the bug but i can't get far in that process as it needs to install some symbols but that crashes out just after you put the root password in and it closes the window too fast to read what the error is. So i'm able to get any traces to help. I've also had it crash out without any error process. [opensuse-factory] TW Can't open txt files with Kate with double click

Hi listmates! I have upgraded today to new TW snapshot, and after reboot, I have noted that I can't open a simple .txt file with Kate (my default option) with double click on it. I can't also open a file with right click on it and open with... and pick up Kate. I get a message that says: "KDEInit no ha podido lanzar «/usr/bin/kate»" But I can find it in that path: victorhck@Geeko:/usr/bin> ls kat* kate kate-syntax-highlighter I have to open Kate from the kickoff menu and then dig to the file I want open. any hint about it? [opensuse-factory] GNOME Shell instabilities... because of Geary?

Hi all, On my system, something occasionally makes GNOME Shell write out long sermons in the .xsession-errors file. And I only notice that because this behavior goes on until my /home partition is full, at which point the computer becomes hard to use. Esentially, that behavior gives me multi-gigabyte ~/.xsession-error-0 files containing over and over the following line: > ** (gnome-shell:29369): CRITICAL **: gtk_action_observer_action_removed: assertion 'GTK_IS_ACTION_OBSERVER (observer)' failed I suspect that this is related to my usage of Geary because that is in general the least stable app on my system, but I don't really know. (Geary 0.12.0, from OBS's GNOME:Apps -- and I am on Leap 42.2, not on Tw) Any pointers on how to best pinpoint this issue? Ideally, I'd like to find out why this happens while it happens -- Currently, I don't even know where to report this - is this a GNOME Shell issue? a Geary issue? maybe something else entirely, like a Shell extension? [opensuse-factory] SUSEConnect and rollback-helper

Hi, I've noticed that SUSEConnect and rollback-helper is installed by default (patterns-base-minimal_base Recommends: rollback-helper -> SUSEConnect) in openSUSE. From my point of view SUSEConnect is used for register and manage SLE licenses (scc.suse.com). Rollback-helper manages re-registration after snapper rollback. Are there other functions which are used in openSUSE? Or why is it installed by default? Today when I ran zypper dup to openSUSE Tumbleweed 20171019-0 -> 20171023-0 "dracut" ran no fewer then FOUR times. There is no need for this to happen with ANY dup.
