[opensuse-factory] Outdated clamav in 42.2 (newer version in 42.1 update)

Hello, I just noticed that clamav in 42.2 is still at version 0.99.1, while both Tumbleweed and 42.1 update already have 0.99.2 since a while [1]. I noticed this because freshclam complained about an outdated version ;-) Can someone please check why 42.2 still has the old clamav version? BTW: 00Meta says the package is coming from SUSE:SLE-12:Update. Having read much too much literature about the setup of a home network I am comming to a point that I need a simple manual for my needs. My two computers are both connected through a switch with the router by cable. I want to have the possibility to exchange data between the computers on a regular base. Both are running Tumbleweed. The computers are both physically under my control. Looks like there are straight solutions until you start reading everything there is about connecting computers via a home network. Upstream's usage is consistent with what update-alternatives(8) implies and what common sense says. In the wiki [1] there's some mention to update-alternatives, and it contains a mention to add `%ghost %_sysconfdir/alternatives/foo`, which can explain why some packages own files there and why some not. If a package owns the symlinks there, IMHO it overcomplicates things, such problems when updating a package, and forgetting to redo `update-alternatives --config`, etc. Also, there's a chance that it didn't use update-alternatives and it did set up the links manually; breaking the mechanism of update-alternatives. As it stands right now, it seems wrong to me. Either we make all links owned by packages or not. I haven't filled any bug yet, since that would need to need a mass bug filling for all the packages that own files in /etc/alternatives/*. I would love to gather some ideas and consensus on this, and ideally, get a policy on how update-alternatives should be used, and have an rpmlint check written/improved so we can start filling bugs per package. Fedora is implementing a system to automatically add reliable, distro-agnostic provides to their python packages [1]. This apparently originally came from Mandriva and Mageia, according to the mailing list discussion [2]. They are also adding macros to make these easier to use, so you can use the macros to depend on the right provides automatically. This seems like something that would make it much easier to handle python packages in a distro-agnostic manner. The downside is it requires rebuilding all python packages to work, which may limit its applicably to previous openSUSE/SLE releases. What does everything think about implementing this on our end as well? I am not exactly clear from the discussion what exactly it would entail. Hi all, The next release of openSUSE Leap is coming along and we need some help marketing it. One solution that could be helpful would be to have a script like we have with Tumbleweed (https://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-factory/2016-08/msg00256.html) that produces a list of the differences in version number from openSUSE Leap 42.1 to openSUSE Leap 42.2. It would also be great if the script could list the differences between 42.1, 42.2 and SLE 12 SP2. this will help us publicize the differences in the versions and allow us to articulate the benefits of Leap to potential new users. The scripts for Tumbleweed were written in python, so some of the script for the Leap purpose could be reused.
