Hello List , my sound worked OK until last zypper dup. Yast sees Intel Sound Card OK : NM10/ICH7 Family High Definition Audio Controller & , Yast plays Sound-Test , somewhat quietly, but audible but, still, XFCE Sound not yet working Yast sees Intel Sound Card OK : NM10/ICH7 Family High Definition Audio Controller & , Yast plays Sound-Test , somewhat quietly, but audible but, still, XFCE Sound not yet working ................ xfce audio settlings gives error message : "GStreamer was unable to detect any sound devices. Some sound system specific GStreamer packages may be missing. It may also be a permissions problem." ......... [opensuse-factory] openSUSE Tumbleweed – Review of the Weeks 2016/23

Dear Tumbleweed users and hackers, Week 2016/23 will go into the history books as the week a Tumbleweed snapshot sneaked through all openQA tests, hiding a breakage most users experienced. I’d like to apologize for the troubles you had with the 20160605 snapshot. I will explain at the end of the post how this could happen and how we plan on preventing such issues in the future. In total we had again 4 snapshots since my last review. Those are 0602, 0603, 0605 and 0607. Interesting updates delivered * Postfix 3.1.1 (updated from 2.11.7) * Linux Kernel 4.6.1 * Ruby 2.3 (parallel to Ruby 2.2, which is still marked default) Things currently in staging * GCC 6 as default compiler * Linux Kernel 4.6.2 * Libreoffice 5.2.0 * QEmu 2.6.0 (will be in 0609+) * Mozilla Firefox 47.0 * Ruby 2.1 is scheduled for removal And now, as promised, a short explanation how snapshot 0605 managed to sneak by openQA, despite the obvious issues it caused. openQA is testing a lot of combinations, from fresh installs in various setups to uprades from various openSUSE Releases. None of those tests caused any problem. The reason was rather simple: the update of pam-config replaced previously ‘ghost’ files with actual files with basic configuration. The basic configuration does not contain logind/systemd integration (pam_systemd.so), which is intentional. In case of new installations and upgrades from released products, this also did not matter, as they in any case had a systemd upgrade, which registers itself as pam service, thus fixing up the configuration again. Users frequenlty updating Tumbleweed did not receive a systemd update here, which made this fall through. In order to avoid such issues in the future we’re planning on a ‘Tumbleweed-to-TumbleweedNext’ upgrade test in openQA: it will install what is currently published on FTP and then try to upgrade to what will come next. This can’t be done with disk images of Tumbleweed, but really needs to be a new install every time. But the complexity is worth the effort in order to avoid such issues. And in case you did not yet resolve the issue on your system (an upgrade to a newer Tumbleweed snapshot does not correct it!), you can issue this command in a shell: > sudo zypper in -f systemd That will re-register systemd in the pam configuration. The snapshot 20160605 left me with problems with kmail. The repair of the problems of snapshot 20160605 did not bring a solution. Neither> did snapshot 20160607. Most things started to work but the bigges problem is still there. If I receive emails instead of one of the email addresses I use I find just Me in the To: field.Not what I expect but I can live with it. Worse is that if I send an email to this list It is send by "Me' and as the list does not recognize "Me" I get it back. Have looked into the kmail setup but did not stumble on any command line which would restore kmail into normal behaviour. Where can I find a solution? For your information, I wrote one email via my gmail account which I put up in the case that kmail has problems with my normal email address. It is an send only address.But that account also sends from "Me' and I have been stuck. [opensuse-factory] how to investigate/solve unresolvable in Virtualization:containers:ppc64le_with_gc_go project ?

Hello Favio, I noticed that the Virtualization:containers:ppc64le_with_gc_go project is now failing with unresolvable error (1) (it previously worked on June 2nd) This is most probably related to gcc5 specifications in Project config (2) and the presence of gcc6 as default. I do not know how to overpass this setup in a local osc build. I tried "osc meta prjconf -e" without success in my own branch Do somebody has as suggestion ? Hi all, I tested the snapshot from open.qa and had an issue with the Networkmanager applet in KDE: Could not add Connection - No session found for uid 1000 (unknown). Has anybody an idea about that. Robby.

[opensuse-factory] Tumbleweed with kernel 4.6 nightmares

Kernel 2.6 in the latest tumbleweed snapshot causes problems on Toshiba Satellite L775D laptops. The end symptom is that the wireless NIC does not work (Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL8188CE 802.11b/g/n WiFi Adapter (rev 01)). Looking the logs, it looks like there are multiple processes seg faulting, starting with panel-10-power, rtl8192ce:rtl92ce_get_hw_reg(), wpa_supplicant, etc. Switching back to kernel 4.5.4-1 makes the wifi work again. Is anyone else seeing similar issues with kernel 4.6? [opensuse-factory] recent updates have caused some problems

Hi, My system (tumbleweed) was running superb after the 4.6 kernel update, however, after the recent updates a couple days ago, I have problems. The Folding @Home client will not start, steam games run very slow, and shutdown goes to the login screen. Don'tknowif there are any other problems. Any ideas? Been waiting for newer updates, but n othing so far. [opensuse-factory] USB connected camera

Hi I've been happily connecting my camera and downloading to digikam over the years but now i'm getting a connection error. This problem has unfortunately coincided with the installation of the latest digikam via "zypper dup" i did this morning (which may be a red herring). The device notifier recognises the camera when connecting. Digikam can auto detect it but as soon as you try to access it (via digikam or dolphin or gwnview) it throws up an error. It does not show in dolphin as connected in the Places/Devices list. In gwenview the error shows this at the top of the viewing pane "Camera:/Nikon %2520DSC%2520D5000%2520(PTP%2520mode)@usb:001,008" In dolphin it shows "camera:/" in the file/folder area above the viewing pane then shows this error in its own pane just below that "Unknown error code 150, I/O problem Please send a full bug report at http://bugs.kde.org." and in the viewing pane it has a folder called Nikon DSC D5000 (PTP mode). I will log the error but i think i might need more info to add to the log. Any ideas?
