[opensuse-factory] Tumbleweed and NVidia driver and SDB HOWTO

I recently upgraded from 13.2 over Leap 42.1 to Tumbleweed. I also had to update to the newest Tumbleweet snapshot today. It's a bit annoying, that it's necessary to reinstall the proprietary NVidia driver after each of these upgrade steps. Otherwise modern desktops like KDE and GNOME may refuse to start. There is probably a failure in this guide: SDB:NVIDIA the hard way section "openSUSE Tumbleweed and Leap" https://en.opensuse.org/SDB:NVIDIA_the_hard_way "NVIDIA proprietary driver works flawlessly on Leap; for Tumbleweed the driver is almost always compatible. However, please keep in mind that you must re-install the driver (simply by running the installer program) after each kernel upgrade." I found, that re-installing the NVidia driver is also necessary after each Xorg/Mesa upgrade. Probably some Xorg/Mesa packages mess-up the NVidia libraries. Could someone with write access to the SDB article fix this? [opensuse-factory] Question about new package Kjots

Hi all on the list, I updated to TW snapshot 20161222 today and wanted to try out the new kjots. However, I only see this error when launching it through Application Menu: KDEInit could not launch '/usr/bin/kjots' but it starts from Konsole. Should there also be a plugin for Kontact? Hopefully, anybody can help.

[opensuse-factory] SR workflow + beware Tumbleweed nodejs users: do *not* update to 5.6.0

Hi! Today I had the chance to submit my first SR to a larger project (nodejs), because it had been broken in the devel project. I've been using the development project, because a few month back the version in Tumbleweed was broken and I forgot to switch back. After a recent update, the development version broke, so I provided a fix for it. The SR actually got rejected with the comment, that my changes have been merged into some other development project, where an update is performed. Of course this hides the credits for the actual fix, but that's fine with me. While browsing through the project, I realized a pending SR from the devel project into factory. I added a comment, stating that this should never be accepted, because it totally breaks the installation. One hour later, the SR actually got accepted and is now in factory. I don't think, openQA will find the issue and I guess, this broken version will be pushed to Tumbleweed users, soon. So to all Tumbleweed users relying on nodejs, please do *not* upgrade to 5.6.0. Once 5.7.0 is published, everything should be fine, again. Now what puzzles me: what should I have done to have this SR prevented from being accepted? The commenting system does not seem to be enough. Sometimes, I've seen a "review" option in the SR, but it was not there for this particular SR (may be, because somebody already "reviewed it as green", or I'm not allowed to add a review to SR for factory). I'm just curious, what I should do, should such a situation happen, again. A second thing, I'd like to know, is how to proceed, now. Should I open another SR to the devel project? Because the update to the next version still seems to be pending with failing build, so it might still take a while. I just want the Tumbleweed version to be fixed ASAP. Currently, I have a working branch installed, so everything is fine for me ;) Of course I also care for my fellow Tumbleweed users. best regards julian

Hi, I managed to update texlive 20150521: https://build.opensuse.org/package/show/home:MargueriteSu:branches:Publishi… it builds successfully for Leap and TW. here are some leaf problems I need help: 1. where could I find changelog for texlive 2015? I mean major changes 2. openSUSE 13.2 won't build due to http://paste.opensuse.org/68437610 but texlive 2015 has supported poppler 0.26. so can anyone have a look at it? My C skill is not enough for it. 3. in specfile, there're many version tags with svn commit number. eg: %package a2ping-bin Version: %{texlive_version}.%{texlive_release}.svn27321 how did these different "svn27321" determined? I could find any .svn inside texlive 2015 source. Thanks for the help! And texlive 2015 is on its way.
