The original install was with Leap 42.1 specifying that kwrite be installed, but not kate or any other related package. All updates were installed within a day or two. This process worked well with 13.1 The only fix was to install kate. And the recent addition of tabs caused confusion with documents apparently disappearing. No, I don't spend several hours checking details in the documentation with every fresh install, and updates are currently big mysteries as to what the changes are. [opensuse-factory] Tumbleweed's polkit rule reads authentication is required to mount another partition on my drive

[opensuse-factory] create own yast2/zypper repository

Hi, I tried to create my own repository for zypper and/or Yast2 following the description on https://en.opensuse.org/SDB:Creating_YaST_installation_sources (third alternative). I can add the newly created repo using "zypper ar" or "Yast2 repositories", but when trying to install software via zypper from it, no package is found. Yast2 gives an error when leaving the repository module, that it can't update metadata somewhere. I guess, the above mentioned description is a bit outdated and misses some steps. Is there a newer description somewhere or can anyone tell me, what I have to do besides the steps from the description? TIA. Bye. Why PowerPC Tumbleweed isos not updated in download.opensuse.org (1) ? The last isos are dated September 27th while last openQA tests are 20161107 (2) Does it need a manual action, or is it part of an automatic process ? May be related to that there is one remaining ppc64 test (3) that failed as not found kbd-legacy. what is us supposed to come from ? HI all, after updating to the latest Tumbleweed snaphot 20161104 I get strange network connection problems when using hostnames although nslookup can resolve them. [opensuse-factory] suse 13.2: uncredited source used in shadowutils: where from?

I was trying to figure out a behavior/feature in shadowutils and whether it came from the package maintainers, or was an OpenSuse addition as wanted to know where the scripts: "useradd.local" and "groupadd.local" came from. I wanted to report one or more problems affecting both scripts and didn't know if it should be reported to the package "owners"[?] or opensuse. I installed the source rpm for "shadowutils-4.1.5" and then thought it might be as fast or faster to look at the sources from the package URL citing http://pkg-shadow.alioth.debian.org/ . On the site, I see the latest tars being 4.1.4, 4.2, and 4.2.1. I see no listing for the tarball used by OpenSUSE, neither 4.1.5.1 nor 4.1.5. I'm wondering where these packages came from (as well as wondering how 4.1.5 was "listed as being from the "alioth" source server when the source server has no such tar. It may be no big deal, but usually when I see a URL where the source tar is supposed to be from, it's usually verifiable as being there and, for the times I've checked, is usually the same tarball. In this case, taking a security-minded stance, I can't check any signature or checksum to verify that the tarball used to create opensuse binaries was from the attributed website. I'm sure there's some good explanation, but isn't this something that shouldn't happen for released software? Where *DID*, 4.1.5 (and 4.1.5.1) come from -- are they opensuse created versions? Should opensuse be creating versions of packages that are easily confused with the version numbers used on the original site? I.e. normally, I see something like 4.1.4_2.37, where the part after the "_" is some suse-specific/internal version. If the package owners didn't created the source for suse's package, who did? While I might have some belief in the security of the package on the package's source site, what is known about the 4.1.5.1 or 4.1.5 packages? Could they have a malware or a rootkit embedded -- since they aren't easily verified for content as they didn't come from the official source for this package... ??? [opensuse-factory] "latest" ca-certs from a year ago can't be installed on 13.2?

Is this correct? Looking in the latest tumbleweed snap for 20161108, I see ca-certificates-2+git20151110.c15593c-1.2.noarch.rpm as a new cert package -- but it won't install on 13.2. Why do I need p11-kit-tools to be updated to install updated certs? Also, where would be certs for the past year? (if the date on the rpm-name is to be believed, it wouldn't have any root-certs generated in the last year. Given all the cert problems in the past year, I'd think it would be important to update these. [opensuse-factory] Help with VirtualBox build error

I would appreciate if someone would look at the build log at https://build.opensuse.org/package/live_build_log/Virtualization/virtualbox…, which fails due to a missing directory. What am I doing wrong? This package builds correctly locally and seems to be OK for Factory and Leap 42.2, but gets this failure for Kernel_stable_standard.
