[opensuse-factory][42.2] zypper up/dup: Cannot read input: bad stream or EOF

On an alpha on host hpg33 last updated (installed?) in July, after zypper ref I tried to zypper up, and it aborted with $SUBJECT message. I got it to update by using the suggested-by-error-message --non-interactive option. Afterward, I tried to zypper dup, but it produces the same result as before the update. rpm --rebuilddb, zypper clean -a and zypper ref didn't help. Searching for $SUBJECT in boo as comment produces no hits in past 11 months. Rebooting seems to have fixed it. I'm trying to package glide[1], and I'm getting an interesting error message from OBS: Files could not be expanded: 400 remote error: /bs/service/1579 not writable for me at /usr/lib/obs/server/bs_service line 115. I'm using a _service file that only contains disabled services, so I'm not sure why OBS is trying to run services when none are enabled. [opensuse-factory] Umm... 42.2 RC1 froze on shutdown for 12 minutes, then continued the reboot?

I upgraded my 42.2 PC with each alpha/beta release. Yesterday I updated to RC1 and then rebooted. I just now rebooted via a SSH login. I was also sitting in front of the machine so I could watch it. The console popped up the Leap Icon/Logo with the 3 big dots below it. The dots showed the machine was alive. After 10 minutes I thought it was locked up and was trying alt-F2, etc. I may have hit cntrl-alt-delete. Then all of a sudden, the reboot proceeded. The machine was idle all day today. This a desktop PC with 64GB of RAM and NVME SSD. I also had a 3TB USB drive connected to it and mounted. I'd done very little I/O to the USB drive between mounting it and rebooting. Dear Tumbleweed users and hackers, The magic number this week is 6: that’s how many snapshots have been published since the last weekly review (1020, 1022, 1023, 1024, 1025 and 1026). Some of them were a bit larger than average (1026 – a big rebuild due to bash 4.4). Let’s see what else we got in this week’s updates: * Kernel 4.8.4 (incl. dirty CoW fix CVE-2016-5195) * LightDM 1.20.0 * KDE Plasma 5.8.2 * SQLite 3.15.0 * Bash 4.4 – libreadline had an ABI change, resulting in quite some rebuilds Let’s see if Tumbleweed can keep up this pace of snapshots. After all, there are those things lined up: * linux-glibc-devel 4.8: only one more build failure (lirc, patch available) * KDE Frameworks 5.27.0 (1028+) * Flatpak (1028+ – New feature will surely need some testing) * Samba 4.5.0 – Some attention by the maintainers seems needed * ICU 58.1 – Staging issues should be resolved already With Leap 42.2 nearing RC2, we will probably soon see some larger changes also in the base systems, as many contributors will be braver again (systemd anybody?)
