[opensuse-factory] After latest tumbleweed update, BTRFS root mounts as RO

After performing an update to the latest tumbleweed snapshot, an oss 13.2 tumbelweed machine with BTRFS for / mount root as ro at bootup. There are no errors logged anywhere regarding that, and the filesystem is all good. / can be remounted as rw post bootup just fine, problem is it is not happening automatically. Where do I need to look to troubleshoot, I am a bit lost with all the systemd material all over the place. I would like to include a new package into Factory: YaST2-Journal. As some people has already reported[1], the switch to systemd has made the "system log" module of YaST less useful that it used to be (unless you install syslog, which brings /var/log/messages back to life). In order to bring the YaST functionality back, while taking advantage of the of the advanced filtering capabilities of the systemd journal, we have developed the new YaST2-Journal module. As you can see in the screenshots [2][3], it displays the log entries in a table with a search box providing grep-like live searching. In addition, it allows to filter the entries in the list by date/time, unit, file or priority. In short, all the advantages of the old (and still present) log viewer with some extra systemd-powered goodies. The package is already hosted in the YaST:Head project, so you can already install it in 13.1, 13.2 and Tumbleweed[4]. If nobody is against, I will create the request for inclusion on Factory next Monday. Last but not least, we are looking for feedback. [opensuse-factory] Maintainability of base system packages

Hi List, I am wondering what the strategy of the openSUSE distribution is with regards to the base system packages. Lately I have seen that quite a number of these packages (e.g. systemd, dracut) are on very old versions, but contain a very high number of patches (most of the time even more than one hundred). Given this situation I am wonder what happened to the strategy to follow upstream releases and to update packages to the latest versions available (something that Tumbleweed is promising). It seems as if the maintainers here are following an old approach where a package is updated to the latest release when a new distro version is started and then only update the package with patches. This approach might be understandable for a product like SLE, but is this also the right approach for openSUSE ? Also I wonder if with this amount of patches the stability of these important packages (as they are part of the base system) is really guaranteed. In my opinion it would be very hard to keep all those patches separated and updating such packages to the latest version could become a nightmare. In many areas we are trying to stay as close to upstream as possible, but it seems that this is not happening in the most important area (the base system) and I am wondering why. Hello people, I need testers for cups-2.0 series. Currently it is residing in my home because I want to be sure it won't explode in our faces [1]. Give it a spin, report issues by bugzilla if you are able to set asignee in them to me. Or report them via mail here if you are unsure how to achieve that. Also as this is not "find your bug" approach try to report only issues that you observe after you migrated and didn't have before. What I tested was direct printing over USB, discovery over avahi, printing over network and our crazy SUSE internal network printing.
