Dear Tumbleweed users and hackers, As promised last week, you received a snapshot that contained: * systemd 224 * Linux Kernel 4.2 * Mozilla Firefox 41.0 * libQt 5.5.0 Users of Virtualbox were a bit bitten by this update, as virtualbox did not successfully build with kernel 4.2 (not due to a vbox issue, but due to dependency issues with the systemd update, which manifested in virtualbox). Of course, virtualbox has since been fixed and you can expect this problem solved in the next snapshot. The next snapshot will have some larger updates again, which is why it takes a bit longer to get this out to you guys, in fully working state. The updates that will guaranteed be in are: * GNOME 3.18.0 * KDE Applications 15.08.1 As you’d expect, we’re working hard to get these updates out to you as quickly as possible. What is currently being prepared in stagings: *Python 3.5 update: this will need some work, as there are multiple packages failing to build (e.g. pythonn3-setuptools, which is quite basic requriement). * Plasma 5.4.2 Have a great weekend a lot of fun. Of course I CAN release the snapshot which has a fixed virtualbox but knowingly breaks ALL systems out there because the bootloader is broken. But I'm not sure it's worthy the tradeoff. So, again: snapshots come out when they are ready. This can be as often as daily - this can be as rare as never. The more people that look at the dashboards and act accordingly to get things fixed, the better the chances to get to daily snapshots. There have been workarounds published on this mailing list like 1 day after the issue with vbox arose first - so there is no real 'blockage' in still running virtual box, if it's a must-have. [opensuse-factory] Leap - sddm-greeter keeps abending, no gui available

The other day I ran "zypper up" on my test desktop - now I'm stuck with "we are sorry, sddm-greeter closed unexpectedly". This morning I ran another "up", no change, still this sddm-greeter failing. Any suggestions - do I reinstall from scratch? Hi all, I wanted to share a good news with you: virt-builder now (finally) has opensuse 13.1, 13.2, Leap 42.1 (to be updated after the release) and Tumbleweed images. [opensuse-factory] Network Manager disabled at startup at random

I am not sure why, but occasionally TW starts without enabling Network Manager. I have to start it with the Services Manager in YaST. Any idea how to force it to start every single time?

[opensuse-factory] Leap 42.1: unofficial ports

Hello, What do you think how many resources (human and computational) would take to maintain unofficial ports of Leap to i586 and armv7l? [opensuse-factory] install pdfedit-0.4.5-2.185.x86_64 impossible

Just got a pdf file that needed editing and I remembered pdfedit. The one click install of the unstable Tumbleweed went okay until installation. It than protested that libt1.so.5()(64bit) needed by pdfedit-0.4.5-2.185.x86_64 was not available. Manual intervention is required. nothing provides libQt5Gui5 = 5.4.2 needed by kwin5-5.4.1-1.2.x86_64 nothing provides libQt5Gui5 = 5.4.2 needed by frameworkintegration-plugin-5.14.0-1.1.x86_64 b) with the nouveau driver, the GUI didn't work. At all. Just updated to Tumbleweed 20151002, and google-chrome-stable is just black boxes - no visible content. Hi, first, this is no attempt for trolling or wasting your precious time. I only see room for improvement and can't really understand why you handle ncurses in so complicated and "messy" way. I was looking recently into ncurses spec file and I was more than confused: 1] why do you use screen during build? is that still valid requirement or it is some remnant of old dark ages? 2] is really necesary to probe options through cflags()? Are these options still required? How can one find that `-Wl,--hash-size=8599' is the right value? 3] do we really want backward compatibility with ncurses 5.4 in Factory/Tumbleweed/Leap? If so, why don't we use %ifarch for the check? 4] what security benefit is in wiping TMPDIR? 5] gpm-devel library is not changing that frequently to have there heuristics to find proper location 6] what is 'correct fallback.c'? 7] is there any effect of applying the same configure options multiple times? 8] why do we still build narrow character variant of libraries (in Factory/Tumbleweed/Leap)? 9] what about generating two separate packages with separated ABI version (ncurses5, ncurses6)? 10] why do we use different tack source?
