Hello there factory guys.
I've started a little personal project of building a low-power
multicast-capable router using the raspberry pi, and was considering
doing it with opensuse, just for the lulz.
In the process, I noticed there's no mrouted daemon, and can't find
anything similar.
Trying to find out why, and assuming that it was either dropped or
excluded because it's really old, I read that debian also dropped it,
along with other distros.
I'm not sure if it's the same in opensuse, but I could guess so.
However, I can find no replacement.
For instance, I can find no recent and/or complete implementation of
MOSPF, except in software router frameworks (which I'd rather avoid).
So... two questions:
1) does anyone know any alternatives to mrouted?
2) would anyone object to me packaging mrouted for Factory?
I noticed a few packages in home projects as well, they all look
rather straightforward, but old (ie: still using initscripts - mrouted
is simple enough that systemd should handle it well).

* Add support for accessing KDCs via an HTTPS proxy server using the
MS-KKDCP protocol.
* Add support for hierarchical incremental propagation, where slaves
can act as intermediates between an upstream master and other downstream
slaves.
* Add support for configuring GSS mechanisms using /etc/gss/mech.d/*.conf
files in addition to /etc/gss/mech.
* Add support to the LDAP KDB module for binding to the LDAP server using
SASL.
* The KDC listens for TCP connections by default.
* Fix a minor key disclosure vulnerability where using the "keepold" option
to the kadmin randkey operation could return the old keys. [CVE-2014-5351]
* Add client support for the Kerberos Cache Manager protocol. If the host
is running a Heimdal kcm daemon, caches served by the daemon can be
accessed with the KCM: cache type.
* When built on OS X 10.7 and higher, use "KCM:" as the default cache type,
unless overridden by command-line options or krb5-config values.
* Add support for doing unlocked database dumps for the DB2 KDC back end,
which would allow the KDC and kadmind to continue accessing the database
during lengthy database dumps.

==== libjpeg-turbo ====
Version update (1.3.1 -> 1.4.0)
Subpackages: libjpeg8 libjpeg8-32bit libturbojpeg0
- Update to version 1.4.0
+ Fixed a build issue on OS X PowerPC platforms (md5cmp failed to build
because OS X does not provide the le32toh() and htole32() functions.)
+ The non-SIMD RGB565 color conversion code did not work correctly on big
endian machines. This has been fixed.
+ Fixed an issue in tjPlaneSizeYUV() whereby it would erroneously return 1
instead of -1 if componentID was > 0 and subsamp was TJSAMP_GRAY.
+ Fixed an issue in tjBufSizeYUV2() wherby it would erroneously return 0
instead of -1 if width was < 1.
+ The Huffman encoder now uses clz and bsr instructions for bit counting on
ARM64 platforms (see 1.4 beta1 [5].)
+ The close() method in the TJCompressor and TJDecompressor Java classes is
now idempotent. Previously, that method would call the native tjDestroy()
function even if the TurboJPEG instance had already been destroyed. This
caused an exception to be thrown during finalization, if the close() method had
already been called. The exception was caught, but it was still an expensive
operation.
+ The TurboJPEG API previously generated an error ("Could not determine
subsampling type for JPEG image") when attempting to decompress grayscale JPEG
images that were compressed with a sampling factor other than 1 (for instance,
with 'cjpeg -grayscale -sample 2x2'). Subsampling technically has no meaning
with grayscale JPEGs, and thus the horizontal and vertical sampling factors
for such images are ignored by the decompressor. However, the TurboJPEG API
was being too rigid and was expecting the sampling factors to be equal to 1
before it treated the image as a grayscale JPEG.
+ cjpeg, djpeg, and jpegtran now accept an argument of -version, which will
print the library version and exit.
+ Referring to 1.4 beta1 [15], another extremely rare circumstance was
discovered under which the Huffman encoder's local buffer can be overrun
when a buffered destination manager is being used and an
extremely-high-frequency block (basically junk image data) is being encoded.
Even though the Huffman local buffer was increased from 128 bytes to 136 bytes
to address the previous issue, the new issue caused even the larger buffer to
be overrun. Further analysis reveals that, in the absolute worst case (such as
setting alternating AC coefficients to 32767 and -32768 in the JPEG scanning
order), the Huffman encoder can produce encoded blocks that approach double the
size of the unencoded blocks. Thus, the Huffman local buffer was increased to
256 bytes, which should prevent any such issue from re-occurring in the future.
+ The new tjPlaneSizeYUV(), tjPlaneWidth(), and tjPlaneHeight() functions
were not actually usable on any platform except OS X and Windows, because
those functions were not included in the libturbojpeg mapfile. This has been
fixed.
+ Restored the JPP(), JMETHOD(), and FAR macros in the libjpeg-turbo header
files. The JPP() and JMETHOD() macros were originally implemented in libjpeg
as a way of supporting non-ANSI compilers that lacked support for prototype
parameters. libjpeg-turbo has never supported such compilers, but some
software packages still use the macros to define their own prototypes.
Similarly, libjpeg-turbo has never supported MS-DOS and other platforms that
have far symbols, but some software packages still use the FAR macro. A pretty
good argument can be made that this is a bad practice on the part of the
software in question, but since this affects more than one package, it's just
easier to fix it here.
+ Fixed issues that were preventing the ARM 64-bit SIMD code from compiling
for iOS, and included an ARMv8 architecture in all of the binaries installed by
the "official" libjpeg-turbo SDK for OS X.
- Adapt patches to upstream changes
libjpeg-ocloexec.patch > libjpeg-1.4.0-ocloexec.patch

- Remove libjpeg-turbo-CVE-2014-9092.patch; fixed on upstream release
- Bump tminor to 1
==== libjpeg62 ====
Subpackages: libjpeg62-devel

- Adapt pip-shipped-requests-cabundle.patch to upstream changes
> pip-6.0.6-shipped-requests-cabundle.patch
- Do not ship bundled cacert
- update to version 6.0.6:
* Continue the regression fix from 6.0.5 which was not a complete
fix.
- changes from version 6.0.5:
* Fix a regression with 6.0.4 under Windows where most commands
would raise an exception due to Windows not having the
os.geteuid() function.
- changes from version 6.0.4:
* Fix an issue where ANSI escape codes would be used on Windows even
though the Windows shell does not support them, causing odd
characters to appear with the progress bar.
* Fix an issue where using -v would cause an exception saying
TypeError: not all arguments converted during string formatting.
* Fix an issue where using -v with dependency links would cause an
exception saying TypeError: 'InstallationCandidate' object is not
iterable.
* Fix an issue where upgrading distribute would cause an exception
saying TypeError: expected string or buffer.
* Show a warning and disable the use of the cache directory when the
cache directory is not owned by the current use, commonly caused
by using sudo without the -H flag.
* Update PEP 440 support to handle the latest changes to PEP 440,
particularly the changes to >V and <V so that they no longer imply
!=V.*.
* Document the default cache directories for each operating system.
* Create the cache directory when the pip version check needs to
save to it instead of silently logging an error.
* Fix a regression where the -q flag would not properly suppress the
display of the progress bars.
- changes from version 6.0.3:
* Fix an issue where the implicit version check new in pip 6.0 could
cause pip to block for up to 75 seconds if PyPI was not
accessible.
* Make --no-index imply --disable-pip-version-check.
- changes from version 6.0.2:
* Fix an issue where the output saying that a package was installed
would report the old version instead of the new version during an
upgrade.
* Fix left over merge conflict markers in the documentation.
* Document the backwards incompatible PEP 440 change in the 6.0.0
changelog.
- changes from version 6.0.1:
* Fix executable file permissions for Wheel files when using the
distutils scripts option.
* Fix a confusing error message when an exceptions was raised at
certain points in pip?s execution.
* Fix the missing list of versions when a version cannot be found
that matches the specifiers.
* Add a warning about the possibly problematic use of > when the
given specifier doesn?t match anything.
* Fix an issue where installing from a directory would not copy over
certain directories which were being excluded, however some build
systems rely on them.
- changes from version 6.0:
* PROCESS Version numbers are now simply X.Y where the leading 1 has
been dropped.
* BACKWARD INCOMPATIBLE Dropped support for Python 3.1.
* BACKWARD INCOMPATIBLE Removed the bundle support which was
deprecated in 1.4. (PR #1806)
* BACKWARD INCOMPATIBLE File lists generated by pip show -f are now
rooted at the location reported by show, rather than one
(unstated) directory lower. (PR #1933)
* BACKWARD INCOMPATIBLE The ability to install files over the FTP
protocol was accidently lost in pip 1.5 and it has now been
decided to not restore that ability.
* BACKWARD INCOMPATIBLE PEP 440 is now fully implemented, this means
that in some cases versions will sort differently or version
specifiers will be interpreted differently than previou sly. The
common cases should all function similarly to before.
* DEPRECATION pip install --download-cache and pip wheel
- -download-cache command line flags have been deprecated and the
functionality removed. Since pip now automatically configures and
uses it?s internal HTTP cache which supplants the --download-cache
the existing options have been made non functional but will still be
accepted until their removal in pip v8.0. Fo r more information
please see
https://pip.pypa.io/en/latest/reference/pip_install.html#caching
* DEPRECATION pip install --build and pip install --no-clean are now
NOT deprecated. This reverses the deprecation that occurred in
v1.5.3. See #906 for discussion.
* DEPRECATION Implicitly accessing URLs which point to an origin
which is not a secure origin, instead requiring an opt-in for each
host using the new --trusted-host flag (pip install -
- trusted-host example.com foo).
* Allow the new --trusted-host flag to also disable TLS verification
for a particular hostname.
* Added a --user flag to pip freeze and pip list to check the user
site directory only.
* Fixed #1873. Silence byte compile errors when installation
succeed.
* Added a virtualenv-specific configuration file. (PR #1364)
* Added site-wide configuation files. (PR #1978)

pip available (PR #2049).
* wsgiref and argparse (for >py26) are now excluded from pip list
and pip freeze (PR #1606, PR #1369)
* Fixed #1424. Add --client-cert option for SSL client certificates.

==== python3-setuptools ====
Version update (11.0 -> 11.3.1)
- update to version 11.3.1:
* Issue #327: Formalize and restore support for any printable character in an
entry point name.
- changes from version 11.3:
* Expose "EntryPoint.resolve" in place of EntryPoint._load, implementing the
simple, non-requiring load. Deprecated all uses of "EntryPoint._load"
except for calling with no parameters, which is just a shortcut for
"ep.require(); ep.resolve();".
Apps currently invoking "ep.load(require=False)" should instead do the
following if wanting to avoid the deprecating warning::
getattr(ep, "resolve", lambda: ep.load(require=False))()
- changes from version 11.2:
* Pip #2326: Report deprecation warning at stacklevel 2 for easier diagnosis.
- changes from version 11.1:
* Issue #281: Since Setuptools 6.1 (Issue #268), a ValueError would be
raised in certain cases where VersionConflict was raised with two
arguments, which occurred in "pkg_resources.WorkingSet.find". This
release adds support for indicating the dependent packages while
maintaining support for a VersionConflict when no dependent package
context is known. New unit tests now capture the expected interface.

Hello,
ntop isn't maintained by upstream anymore, further development will take
place in ntopng. Because of open security issues I would like to have ntop
removed from factory. Objections?

Bug
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=913421
made me aware that in my factory installation logrotate is also not
running.
I applied the workaround as described in the bugreport and I have
the impression a systemd timer configured as
OnCalendar=daily
ist started exactly and only at midnight.
Is this correct, I could not find documentation about this?
The "daily" functionality of cron is quite different, so this could
cause a lot of things no longer working as expected when services are
migrated if not documented properly.
Additional question: if a *.timer configuration file is changed or a
local configuration is created, how to trigger systemd to re-read this
changed configuration?
After "systemctl dameon-reload" "systemctl list-timers" still showed
the original schedule of timer execution. Only after a reboot the new
values were used. I also found no documentation for this.

Hi all,
oSC15 is coming up, May 1-4 in The Hague, and as you may or may not
know we are in a bit of trouble concerning registrations and talk
submissions. Additionally some legislation changes eventually trickled
down to effect us and we have to move our venue. Our previous location
BINK36 is being sold as the current owner is being forced, via
legislation, to re-focus their effort on housing rentals rather than
side projects such as venue rentals. The sales process of BINK36
leaves us in limbo with respect to signing a contract and thus we have
to move to a new venue. Thanks to the effort of Hans and Robin a new
location has already been found and we are ready to leave BINK36
behind and look forward to meet at Westvliet
(http://www.westvliet.nl/algemeen/sfeerimpressie/ .) While this is
primarily a sports facility there is plenty of room for us to hang
out, chat, hack, and have fun together. Thus, as of today we focus on
a new venue and move forward. The new venue is located in a town
called Voorburg just on the outskirts of The Hague. The location is
easily reachable by train from down town The Hague, thus if you
already booked a Hotel there is nothing to worry about.
So much for the news about the venue change, an article will appear
shortly on news.o.o.
Now to my personal appeal to everyone. Yes, we certainly had some
rough times over the last couple of years and some of us are probably
still disgruntled. However, I think the time has come to let the past
rest and look forward to new horizons. oSC15 is a great opportunity to
do just that. We can all come together re-kindle the spirit that has
made past events great with large numbers of us Geekos participating
in oSC. oSC is our event, it can only be successfull if as many of us
as possible participate. Whether we discuss the booth boxes, marketing
efforts, design, or technical contributions, all areas benefit from
face to face time. oSC is our opportunity to meet face to face and
discuss and improve the state of our project. As with every conference
TSP money is available to help get you to the conference. With the
budget in very good shape there will be extra money available for the
TSP to help more people get to oSC. The TSP period will open in the
near future, watch out for announcements.
Please consider to join your fellow Geekos at oSC15 in The Hague, May
1 - 4, 2015. The goal is to have at least 150 people at the
conference, overshooting the goal would certainly be a welcome sign of
live.
Thanks for taking the time to read this and I hope to see you in The
Hague.
Later,
Robert

Hello,
I'm troubleshooting KDE 5. I can't get past ksplash, and
when I do, I arrive at a black screen with just a mouse. I do have a X11
error, but I can't remember how to paste it, otherwise I would've
attached it. --

Changed packages:
==== IPython ====
- specfile:
* updated copyright year
* added Jinja2 requirement for notebook and nbconvert (bnc#911524)
==== calibre ====
- Removed liberation fonts from package (boo#911756)
==== cscope ====
- support-fun-as-params.patch: swallow function as parameters
- remove INSTALL from %doc, as suggested by the rpm checker
==== dbus-1-devel ====
Version update (1.8.12 -> 1.8.14)
Subpackages: libdbus-1-3 libdbus-1-3-32bit
- Update to 1.8.14
* Security hardening:
- Do not allow calls to UpdateActivationEnvironment from uids
other than the uid of the dbus-daemon. If a system service
installs unsafe security policy rules that allow arbitrary
method calls (such as CVE-2014-8148) then this prevents
memory consumption and possible privilege escalation via
UpdateActivationEnvironment.
We believe that in practice, privilege escalation here is
avoided by dbus-daemon-launch-helper sanitizing its
environment; but it seems better to be safe.
- Do not allow calls to UpdateActivationEnvironment or the
Stats interface on object paths other than
/org/freedesktop/DBus. Some system services install unsafe
security policy rules that allow arbitrary method calls to
any destination, method and interface with a specified object
path; while less bad than allowing arbitrary method calls,
these security policies are still harmful, since dbus-daemon
normally offers the same API on all object paths and other
system services might behave similarly.
* Other fixes:
- Add missing initialization so GetExtendedTcpTable doesn't
crash on Windows Vista SP0 (fdo#77008, Ilya A. Tkachenko)

==== xterm ====
Version update (312 -> 313)
Subpackages: xterm-bin
- Patch #313 - 2014/11/28
* add regisScreenSize resource setting to allow custom
screensizes for ReGIS graphics (prompted by discussion with
Scott Froebe).
* fix some minor issues in manpage (Jens Schweikhardt).
* improve ReGIS font-handling (Ross Combs):
+ remove "random junk" generation for unknown characters
+ add xterm extension to load user glyphs for alphabet 0
+ add xterm extension to specify loading an alphabet from a
font by name
+ fix bug with use of empty alphabet slots which caused slot
0 to be clobbered
+ update/clarify ReGIS-related comments
+ add DECprint extension for printing/clearing the screen
(only clearing is performed)
* improve ReGIS colorspec conversion (Ross Combs):
+ avoid some floating point math for colorspace conversion
+ move two copies of colorspec parsing to a single function
+ change colorspec parsing to handle components being out of
order or with spaces and commas between them
+ add support for an extension where RGB components can be
given instead of HLS
* improve use of const, e.g., for the LineData pointers (patch
by Ross Combs).
* clip of graphics that overlap the scrollback buffer and alt
screen (patch by Ross Combs).
* amend change to focus-change events in patch #287 to limit it
to suppressing the reset of the urgency-hint, because some
useful FocusOut events were lost (report by Joe Peterson).
* modify dpkg build-script to configure xterm-dev as an
x-terminal-emulator alternative.
* extend the --with-xterm-symlink feature to make symbolic
links for the other programs and scripts.
* minor fix to vttests/resize.pl to avoid undefined variable
when receiving broken/missing response, e.g., from mrxvt.
* change the way that ReGIS graphics are refreshed (patch by
Ross Combs):
+ it pre-composes any overlapping graphics to avoid
unnecessary and flickering draws
+ it adds a three-dimensional lookup table for RGB -> pixel
values and uses this across all graphics
+ it draws in line segments when there is a run of the same
color
+ in cases where there are no transparent parts, it uses an
XImage to draw
+ it hooks into the double-buffering support if it is
enabled (though this doesn't seem to get rid of all
flicker).
* This has the effect of reducing flicker and speeding up
redraws.
- Add libX11-devel, libXft-devel and libXrender-devel
BuildRequires: the configure script silently disables XRENDERFONT
support if the dependencies are missing (boo#911683).
- Add an extra check after configure to ensure we do not lose this
support accidentally ever again.
