[opensuse-factory] Screen resolution problem

After latest zypper dup screen size had defaulted to 1024x768 and cannot be changed to anything higher. Yes at the end I did the same and it worked. But I think that for a not "pro" it could be an issue. Another problem is that USB forward via spice channel is not working. [opensuse-factory] Drop lightspark

Lightspark is a Flash player. Flash is dead. The package has a tendency to break with new LLVM versions. And the latest release is from one year ago. Right now it fails to build in Factory because of the update to LLVM 3.4. There is a patch in GIT, but I don't really feel like investing time on this. I have never really used it. So, somebody wants it? [opensuse-factory] Using Tumbleweed and zypper si -d -- installing package build dependencies

Hey folks, so I've gone down the OpenSUSE Tumbleweed road and so far I gotta say its pretty great. My only issue so far is the build dependency doesn't seem to work. That or the instructions to install Tumbleweed [0] are lacking a bit more context / repos. I'm about to try the same with xen and qemu to be able to build my own xen / qemu, but figure before I run into further compile issues. Am I missing repos or is the above example on kernel-desktop just not a good one? Which would have been the right package then? zypper dup after clean network installation without any additional repositories will switch glibc from i586 to i686. Why? If someone gets YaST packager segfaulting, 'solution' is to remove libqdialogsolver1. Apparently libyui-qt moved to Qt 5, but dialogsolver is still at Qt4, so things go crazy there ;-) Cheers, Hrvoje

I had upgraded a computer with opensuse 11.3 to 13.1, which worked fine in a computer with a Asus A7V600 motherboard and a Athlon XP2600+ At the first time from the beginin of the installation, I hear a noise coming from the hard disk, like a beat from the HD heads. Once the instalation was completed, I modified the file /etc/sysconfig/kernel and added the module sata_via, and created a new initrd and the system worked better with less beats from the HD heads, but not completely resolved. The other problem is the system I installed is 32 bits, but on my pc hay have X86-64. Later I modified the file /etc/sysconfig/kernel and replaced the module sata_via with ahci and created a new initrd, and the system worked worst. [opensuse-factory] broken dracut? perl-bootloader?

On Piii/32 bit host gx150 I just did a zypper dup. Each time Dracut was supposed to run, it did little but produce a usage message (Unknown arguments: 3.13.0-rc7-1-default...3.13.3-1-default...), so the new kernel had no initrd, and the old remained as last created, until I made one for the new kernel manually, which came out to 21613K, compared to the previous @ 5824K. /boot/grub/menu.lst did not get updated either. The new initrd failed on boot with "Failed to mount /sysroot". Previous kernel/initrd boot the system OK except for a long delay beginning around 13 seconds. -- "The wise are known for their understanding, and pleasant words are persuasive." I'd like to add this package to factory. It's been in Apache:Modules and used in production for several years now. apache2-mod_authn_otp mod_authn_otp is an Apache web server module for two-factor authentication using one-time passwords (OTP) generated via the HOTP/OATH algorithm defined in RFC 4226. This creates a simple way to protect a web site with one-time passwords, using any RFC 4226-compliant hardware or software token device. mod_authn_otp supports both event and time based one-time passwords. It also supports "lingering" which allows the repeated re-use of a previously used one-time password up to a configurable maximum linger time. This allows one-time passwords to be used directly in HTTP authentication without forcing the user to enter a new one-time password for every page load. mod_authn_otp supports both basic and digest authentication, and will auto-synchronize with the user's token within a configurable maximum offset (auto-synchronization is not supported with digest authentication). mod_authn_otp is especially useful for setting up protected web sites that require more security than simple username/password authentication yet also don't require users to install special VPN software, and is compatible with software tokens that run on cell phones.
