How can I stop this error I am receiving using tumbleweed? [opensuse-factory] Throw "apper" out of 12.2?

Hi, in 11.4 and 12.1 i faced at least two apper bugs [1], which in my opinion have shown that this software is still beta, see also [2] Until a moment before i never saw the apper applet here on 12.2/RC2, and happily thought that it didn't got to 12.2. But now i wanted to update with Yast, and it gave me the following error: ------------------------------------ PackageKit is blocking software management. This happens when the updater applet or another software management application is running. Ask PackageKit to quit? ------------------------------------ I thought: What the heck, apper (= PackageKit(?)) still there? Ok, the former bugs surely are fixed now, so i will give it a try. Here is what happened: - starting apper per menu doesn't work, resp have to start it a second time - it then shows two icons: "Installed Software" and "Updates" - clicking once doesn't do anything (isn't it an KDE app and shouldn't one-clicks work? - double click on both icons gives error "an unknown error happened" - wait, forget the last but one point. one-click works, but it takes so long without any progress indicator, and the error arises anyway - After clicking away the error message, theres still a button left: "Check for updates ...". But pressing it leads to the same error again. ----------------------------------------------------------------- I propose to throw out "apper" because it still seems beta (and that for a long time). [opensuse-factory] 12.2RC2 with encrypted partition - systemctl keeps asking for the passphrase

Hi, I've recently updated an 12.1 install to 12.2RC2 . My root partition is encrypted /etc/fstab: /dev/system/root / ext4 acl,user_xattr 1 1 /dev/disk/by-id/ata-KINGSTON_SH100S3240G_50026B721A240420-part1 /boot ext4 acl,user_xattr 1 2 /dev/system/swap swap swap defaults 0 0 /etc/crypttab cr_sda2 /dev/disk/by-id/ata-KINGSTON_SH100S3240G_50026B721A240420-part2 none none Whenever I use systemctl to start or stop a service it asks for the passphrase Please enter passphrase for disk KINGSTON_SH100S3240G (cr_sda2)! **** Entering ( or not ) the correct passphrase has no effect, but it's quite annoying A quick search on bnc[1] has returned nothing of interest. Is this something I should change or a bug to report? [opensuse-factory] RC2: what's the difference between factory and RC2?

Hi everyone I have just installed this: openSUSE-DVD-Build0091-i586.iso Which do I have? factory or RC2? If I run zypper update it says Nothing to be done. even after a clean install from the DVD. Does it pull the stuff from 'net during install? t never has done before. Yast repos say: http://download.opensuse.org/update/12.2 Surely there have been some updates since RC2 was released. [opensuse-factory] Anyone able to use a UMTS data stick?

Is anyone successfully using a UMTS data stick with 12.2 (or Factory or 12.1 with kernel 3.4 or later for that matter)? I always get pppd[7116]: unrecognized option 'wwan0' since that is what NetworkManager now passes to pppd instead of ttyUSBX and failed to find a way to change that on the user side. Attached is the, ahem, creative workaround I devised to track this down and get online this weekend; https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=776520 has details Is this just me, or will this hit everyone/most/many with a UMTS data stick?
