[opensuse-factory] Shared / static library packaging policy

Hi guys, your friendly (Factory) reviewing team would like to see more packages honor our not-so-new shared / static library policy [1],[2]. It has been around for ages, but we still have quite a bunch of offending packages in Factory. First of all this is only a gentle reminder, but we would like to enforce the policy for new packages more than we did so far. We believe that this is a wanted and very necessary step in order to increase the quality of our packages. The topic has already been cooking for a while and most packagers already do an awesome job on that front and we want to encourage everyone to fix the remaining bits. This means we don't like to see (and probably won't accept) the following rpmlint filters in Factory submissions anymore: - shlib-policy-missing-suffix - shlib-policy-name-error - shlib-policy-missing-lib - shlib-fixed-dependency - shlib-policy-nonversioned-dir - shlib-legacy-policy-name-error - shlib-policy-excessive-dependency So, if your package has one of those, please read the docs on how to fix it (or ask the list). Some good random examples on how it can be done (there are plenty of others): - openSUSE:Factory / gtkmm2 - openSUSE:Factory / librelp Of course, there are always exceptions, thus this isn't set in stone. If a package has to deviate from the policy, make sure to document why (if in doubt, ask the list). A suitable place is the rpmlintrc file in your package (it's Python, thus #commenting works). Remember, the more text you throw at the reviewers in your spec / changes / rpmlintrc files, the more likely it is that they understand the cause (but the easier it may be for them to fend it off :-). [opensuse-factory] bugs status

Hello, I notice that many of my bug reports have still the status "NEW" https://bugzilla.novell.com/buglist.cgi?bug_status=NEW&bug_status=ASSIGNED&… including many that *are* assigned as far as I can understand. This is disconcerting, specially for a bugzilla beginner (I don't speak for me here). I'm pretty sure it's simply a lack of attention problem, as I frequently do myself such errors :-(. I also took some time to scan all my openned bugs, and noticed that several seems to be solved (some where certainly solved, but nobody closed the bug). Then I closed the bug as fixed (or any other option I thought usefull). May be we could warn the reporters that the devs can't know better than them if the bug is fixed and encourage them to close they bugs. I know I was really hesitating to do so because I'm still not confident with bugzilla. Is is a good idea? [opensuse-factory] Audio mixer

The new version of Opensuse, will offer a decent audio mixer under KDE4? Hello I have some questions about factory , openqa and publishing of the .rpm's Questions - Q1 . After a successful test of a built .iso in opensuse openqa[1] can the associated .rpms be published to opensuse factory [2] say overnight ? - Q2 Could the publish part to factory be done say overnight with a automated process to add/remove/update .rpms and update metadata information ? [opensuse-factory] Virtualbox for Tumbleweed?

Hello Mates, just a Question. What is the best way to run virtualbox under tumbleweed? AFAIK we haven't precompiled kernel modules. Should i use the *.run from virtualbox.org? A zypper dup downloaded something causing this problem today. It did work last night. Running tvtime 1.0.2. Reading configuration from /etc/tvtime/tvtime.xml Reading configuration from /home/donn/.tvtime/tvtime.xml videoinput: Can't get tuner info: Invalid argument videoinput: Can't get tuner info: Invalid argument And yes I have used yast2>Hardware>TV Card to setup the card and I know what the variable are. I also noted that KDE/tvtime only has version 1.0.1 as available. It may be from V4L which as I remember was in the download. This would have come from the openSuSE Factory. As a test I did remove /home/donn/.tvtime which didn't help. Also the input from the mouse to change channels now fails. This like due to a lack of a tuner. ________________________________________________________________________ Is this something new! Or is it an error? [opensuse-factory] Tumbleweed: dependency problem for mercurial

Hello, Trying to install mercurial on my system. After that, it seems working as I managed to clone a repository with it.
