[opensuse-factory] KDE unusable with dual-monitor setup

Hi, since opensuse 11.3 automatic switching my dual monitor setup to side-by-side on KDE startup no longer works for me. The workaround was to manually switch after each KDE startup using krandrtray. This has been annoying with 11.3, but with 11.4 things have become worse: The current plasma-desktop obviously assumes side-by-side arrangement of monitors has been set up properly and as a consequence applies desktop backgrounds in an insane way: After start of KDE session I observe one of two effects. Either 1) one of the background images is always on top on both monitors in a way that no application window is visible except of shortly flickering up when doing Alt-Tab (that't how I discovered that app windows while not visible are existing). In this situation the desktop is effectively unusable. 2) plasma-desktop arranges backgrounds of both monitors as single background image on one monitor where the width of the left image is horizontally sqeezed to less then 10% so that there is enough space for the right background image. This shows up mirrored on both monitors. Until now I believed that this may be a problem may be related to my graphics hardware (older Radeon X1300). But now I discovered the same behaviours on an notebook with recent intel core-i3 integrated graphics. So I looks like that this is a major distribution or KDE problem. Is there a known way to fix the dual monitor setup? [opensuse-factory] GTK Libraries Problems after moving onto factory

Hi All Recently I moved on to factory tested repo and then did a zypper dup Now I find a host of problems as 1. I am not able to see any panel 2. [opensuse-factory] Burning CD image RC2 - failed booting

Dear developers! I finished burning RC2 right now to CD and wanna boot it in VirtualBox. I´ve got the CD in my CD/DVD-drive and start the virtual machine. The machine tried to boot, and then following cames: ISOLINUX 3.86 [...] No DEFAULT or UI configuration directive found! boot: _ I downloaded the x86_64 image from http://www.software.opensuse.org/developers/de Has anybody else this problem? Is this a general problem? I have an 11.4 machine, everything up to date. I have a Tumbleweed machine, everything up to date. I intend to keep 11.4 as 11.4 for a while at least, so that's fine. I intend to go on upgrading the Tumbleweed machine. At what point do I need to change YaST to point to 11.4 repos? BTW the Tumbleweed kernel is beyond 11.4 now. Hello all, I know that all have been very busy with 11.4. I would fix this if I knew coding. I would offer my time and services for testing this on my 64-bit machine with GeForce 8600 GTS graphics card. [opensuse-factory] openSUSE 11.4 is done! Please help with Launch!

I'm happy to announce that the DVD ISOs of openSUSE 11.4 are finished. As usual a distribution is a product of many hands - both from the openSUSE community and the various upstream communities whose projects we use: Some developed great software, or wrote documentation, or translated documentation and software, build packages for openSUSE, tested everything, wrote bug reports, helped to get the bugreports to those that fixed it, fixed bugreports, supported those that were using openSUSE 11.4 in the development phase, told others about openSUSE 11.4 via blogs, videos etc. Thanks to all of you! I'd like to thank especially Coolo who drove as release manager the creation of 11.4 until he became ill. I had some catching up yesterday and checked in only a few fixes that were critical for installation and missed for sure some important fixes. So, for those and other important fixes, please follow the Maintenance workflow as explained at http://en.opensuse.org/Portal:Maintenance so that users can get quickly fixes for these. The next big thing now is the launch of openSUSE 11.4 on Thursday, 10th of March. Please support the marketing team *NOW* with getting everything ready for the launch. Join us on the opensuse-marketing mailing list and on freenode IRC channel #opensuse-marketing. The central web page is http://en.opensuse.org/Portal:11.4 and it needs quite some love at the moment.
