[opensuse-factory] Has FreeNX server been dropped?

I'm running 11.0 and I'm running amazingly old version 0.7.0-18.1-x86_64 from oss repo of the freenx server in it. Nomachine is in version 3.3.0-27. And I see that it can no more be found in 11.2 at all. I've also heard that it's missing already in 11.1. Is this the case? [opensuse-factory] Disaster -- was No updates of any description to 11.2 (MS6)?

Short time ago I updated my (32-bit) 11.2 MS6 KDE installation using the "zypper up" command - which I concluded was the command I needed to run from the comments in the above-mentioned thread (to update from the factory repos). After some 3+ hours online and ~970MB of updates later what happens when I reboot? The normal, green, grub menu.lst screen appears showing me that the only selectable device I have to boot 11.2 with is....the Floppy. Nothing else, just Floppy. I use the Rescue option on the (11.1) DVD and I am informed that I have no Linux system installed. Suggestions about how to recover the already-installed oS would be greatly appreciated. [opensuse-factory] My usb card reader no longer works with latest kernel-default-2.6.31-4.1.x86_64

Worked perfectly before, pop-up menu when card inserted. Will boot previous kernel and see if different as soon as current update is finished. [opensuse-factory] M6 kernel panic: grub/initrd problems with ext4

Hi, I use M6 on x86_64 and yesterday I dist-upgraded all packages. On startup my system now jumps into grub-shell. I use one boot- (/dev/sda2) and a separate root-partition (/dev/sda3 formatted with ext4) and entered into grub-shell root(hd0,2) kernel (hd0,1)/vmlinuz root=/dev/sda3 init=/bin/bash vga=0x317 boot but I get this kernel panic: EXT3-fs: sda3: couldn't mount because of unsupported optional features (240) EXT3-fs: sda3: couldn't mount because of unsupported optional features (244) List of all partitions: 0800 78150744 sda driver: sd 0801 1951866 sda1 0802 96390 sda2 0803 9767520 sda3 0804 66332385 sda4 No filesystem could mount root, tried: ext3, ext2 iso9660 Kernel Panic - not syncing: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(8,3) I suppose this is something initrd related? How do I get my system back working? Hallo Liste, I run the above wlanadapter in a Toshiba Satellite A310 on a x86_64 system with the latest opensuse 2.6.31-rc6-3-desktop I configured the adapter with yast an ifup. When i start the wlan with ifup wlan0 it connects to my router (fritzbox wlan) and i can go online. the routing at this time looks like this: /home/user # route Kernel IP Routentabelle Ziel Router Genmask Flags Metric Ref Use Iface 192.168.178.0 * 255.255.255.0 U 0 0 0 wlan0 link-local * 255.255.0.0 U 0 0 0 wlan0 loopback * 255.0.0.0 U 0 0 0 lo default fritz.fonwlan.b 0.0.0.0 UG 0 0 0 wlan0 When i disconnect the wlan or it does it by itself, the next time i connect i have no more connection to the internet. The routingtable does not change until i shut down the machine. A restart does not change it too. I also noticed the wlan did not start in windows when i booted from Suse. First after the shutdown the route changed to the first entry an i can go online again. Can someone help. [opensuse-factory] heads up about ext4 online defrag

Greg KH / Factory, I mostly lurk on the Ext4 kernel mailing list. Just this morning I participated in a brief thread about ext4's newly merged online defrag ioctl which was pushed to Linus in the 2.6.31 merge window and is part of 2.6.31-rc7 at a minimum. As of rc7 there is not a Kconfig option to disable it. Per http://marc.info/?l=linux-ext4&m=124992522305319&w=2, it currently can cause oop'es when defragging a sparse file, and the recently submitted patch to resolve that introduces file corruption of those same files. I don't know if 11.2 had plans of including ex4defrag or not, but if so I believe this issue should be closely watched and may need to be dropped altogether until 11.3 comes along. Even if userspace was not going to have the ex4defrag tool, having the ioctl in the final 11.2 shipping kernel also seems like a bad idea. I hope it gets somehow marked experimental before 2.6.31 goes final. If not Greg KH and his team may need to patch it out of the kernel for our release. In this case orca refuses to start. Another Problem is that the shipped configs for orca are outdated and should be updated. [opensuse-factory] kernel-2.6.31-5.1 broke usb mouse for my machine

I was testing the lastest factory build (kernel-2.6.31-5.1) for x86_64 for some bugs I am following and on reboot I lost ability to use a USB mouse. Tried hotplugging to see if it was discovered this way and this didn't work either. Tried mice both with a cable and with the flaky Logitech USB/bluetooth mouse I own. I didn't find my mouse port adapter for USB so I can't say if the legacy mouse port works or not. Also, still seeing the delay in startup due to searching for a disk in the /dev/fd0. The machine went through 3 rounds of "waiting for udev to settle" before anything came up.
